We need a result badly for this one. A win here and we can pull away from the bottom and start to move on up. The players showed some fight. Do we have players suspended after all those yellows?

Oh ok. We had people over when the match was on so had to keep the volume down but I thought I may have heard that Clark was suspended because he picked up 5 yellows this season. I hope I misheard.

I would keep the same team but possibly start Albie and rest Gabby to the bench. I think Ged picked the right back 4 for Chelski as they play with little genuine width or pace and Sunderland have pretty much the same type of attacking formation, i.e. a 4-3-3 with 3 centre forwards, so 4 CBs should be okay.

Is Delph back fit? I would get him on for the last 30 when Stan tires, which he will.

I will go Villa 2-0.

I don't think we will keep a clean sheet unless they don't turn up. It's going to be a case of out scoring them. Its got potential to be a really good game. They are in a good run of form, we are at home and just come off that injury time goal against Chelsea.

Same start as chelsea, but I'd have Hogg on the bench (and Delph if fit) to move into center mid if by chance we are holding on late since petrov will have tired. Might pull off Gabby and or Downing for the extra center mid.

Its all about this one, This is the big one and the one that matters, We were never expected to get anythin from chelsea so the point was a bonus to build off.

Win this and things may turn the corner in 2011...

If you got the cash and the time then get yourself down to villa park and sing your hearts out for the lads!..

Come on villa lets fcukin do it!..

Up The Villa.

Houllier revealed Fabian Delph [knee] will miss the Sunderland and Sheffield United games while Luke Young [knee] will see a specialist to ascertain the extent of his injury.

Gabby Agbonlahor, meanwhile, who was substituted at Stamford Bridge with a sore groin should be fit to face the Black Cats.

He added: "Fabian won't be involved in the next two games. Gabby felt his groin but he should be okay.

"Luke is another casualty. He will see a specialist. We need to sort out the knee injury."

I'm interested to see if Bannan and Albrighton come back in to the team for this one.... If Albrighton does come back in it'll probably be for Gabby on the wings. I would like to see some sort of consistancy and for the team to be as similar as possible. Loved the height we had in the team on Sunday too so hopefully we'll see that in a few more games.

If no Delph then play the same team as Chelsea.

Having Albrighton on the bench to scare a tired defence in the 2nd half is a great option.

The thing with Albrighton he seems to make a lot of mistakes late on in games. He gave away the free kick against Fulham for them to equalise and he lost the ball against Chelsea for them to score their 3rd goal. I'm sure he has given a penalty away or something too. As soon as he came on against Chelsea I knew he would do something like that. I'm a big fan of the lad and he will learn from his mistakes but I'd probably rather he started and we rested Downing and brought him on 60/70mins in. Downing I think has played every game for us this year, he needs some sort of rest or he is going to burn out.

I'd take a draw in tis one if the performance is right. Sunderland are a good side and they seem to be in a decent rhythm at the moment. A draw here and wins in the next two should see us progress.

The game on the 16th is increasingly looking like a big one and it was already a big one.

For me, the result will rest on which team can get onto the front foot - on paper, both attacks are better than both defences - Richardson, Malbranque, Bent, Wellbeck and Gyan are a handful for anyone - so it'll be vital that we get them thinking about how to stop Gabby, Heskey, Young, Downing and Albrighton rather than concentrating on attacking us.

We've got a bit of momentum but it's a fragile confidence and the first goal will make a huge difference - if we get it then I think we can go on and win well.
