SSN said yesterday that they'd spoken to Whelan & the deal with Villa was there or thereabouts, but he wasn't accepting a penny less than the asking price. I remember we had all this with Milner.... Last minute bid from Everton...bla bla bla Villa will just up the cash downpayment for him if we want him if there's a rival bid. Like I posted yesterday Randy doesn't mess around with buying players.... Also....Ian Taylor wouldn't tweet #N'Zogbia #avfc if this wasn't done and dusted! As I've also posted previously Wignites had reported this was done & dusted over a week ago Zog to Villa........before we'd sold Downing in fact THAT's why the player DIDN'T fly out to Sweden with the rest of the Wigan squad on a pre-season tour Last Monday. He has forked out large sums for players that his manager at the time says is good. Give him credit for that. Bent. Davies. Shorey. Reo-Coker. Young. Milner. The list goes on of expensive players. They have finished ahead of us in 6 of the last 7 seasons, with '09-10 being the exception. Would that be the type that drags on aka Dunne, Stephen Ireland and now Given? - Two words and maybe both shoud be removed - Garry Cook! PLUS - Villa by all accounts do things properly by approaching the selling club about a player before we speak to him, instead of tapping him up like some! Mention no names.... Hence when there's no transfer request...Player needs to negotiate THEIR compensation package with the selling club. It takes time! Not to mention since PF returned off his honeymoon only just over a week ago, he's had the SHA situation to sort out with settling compensation over McLeish' backroom staff and any further aggro over the manager's position... Appointing Lamb off Blackburn.... and any other new backroom staff. Haggling with Liverpool to get the best price we can for Downing and sorting that situation out. Also sorting out bids for outgoing player - Cuellar & anyone else Not to mention lodging bids for Shay Given, N'Zogbia and possibly others. So the CEO has been kinda busy! Crack is off twitter... we're trying to get in the following players at least... Given, N'Zogbia, Parker, Dann + Sturridge on Loan Dann being preferred to Cuellar. I knew about McLeish before these clowns even got a wiff of it purely through knowing somebody who works at bodymoor. They were still reporting Moyes was favourite next manager when McLeish was getting interviewed. To summarise, they know no more than me or you.
