Wrestling Themes Quiz

I only got 50/60... a chance for some of you to redeem yourselves after the thumping I gave you all in the wrestling figure quiz.

Today's theme are all the same boring crap.

A very disappointing 16.

I did get Rick Martel though! :D

This is on YouTube at the moment, watched it the other night

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg3BW7bOwLE

Justin Credible (w/ Jason, Nicole Bass, and Chastity) v Jerry Lynn

Lance Storm v Chris Candido (w/ Tammy Lynn Sytch)

Mike Awesome v Masato Tanaka

Rob Van Dam & Sabu (w/ Bill Alfonso) v Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki for the ECW World Tag Team Championship

Taz v Bam Bam Bigelow in a Falls Count Anywhere match for the FTW Heavyweight Championship

The Dudley Boyz (Buh Buh Ray, D-Von and Big Dick) (w/ Joel Gertner, Sign Guy Dudley and Jeff Jones) v Tommy Dreamer, Spike Dudley and The Sandman in a Street Fight

Not a dud on the card. It's the original DVD rip as well, so no cuts and no overdub. Great fun.

Survivor Series 1997. One of my absolute favourite years in the WWF, even if Bret Hart got screwed over :(

That makes me want to read "Have a Nice Day" again

Edit: Amazing, here it is in audiobook format

Having listened to this, I now realise it's a very abridged version of the book (I did think 3 hours was a bit short for the book which is about 700 pages from memory).

For anyone who hasn't read it, read the full version. It's worth it.

Literally wrestling history right there.

Always wanted to see the footage of Brett tearing the place up after that.

Ahhhh the Montreal Screwjob. :)

To be fair to Brett that was one quality lump of phlem he gobbed at Vince. He had 4 or 5 goes at wiping that off.

Also  at the bloke saying to HBK "WALK" as he pretty much drags him up the ramp......

Bret screwed himself he refused to drop the belt before going to WCW, they were the biggest threat to Vince ever, and to take the risk that your champion doesn't drop the belt? Nah I'm with Vinnie I would have done same thing and forced the match.

Bret should have done the honourable thing and dropped the belt it's his job to wrestle, not to decide who should win a match, if/when wrestlers refuse to job/loose today everyone gets on their back within seconds but because its Bret people don't?

I think he was one of the best technical wrestlers ever to grace the ring but doesn't stop me agreeing with Vince

Bret was unable to appear on WCW for another month after Survivor Series and was happy to drop the belt on Raw over the next few weeks, just not during his last WWF match in Canada.

Vinnie Mac just got paranoid.

 It really isn't that simple.

Brett was the highest paid star on the roster by a country mile..... to a point where the WWF (which was struggling financially couldn't pay him) Vince had pretty much told Brett to negotiate with and sign for WCW because he wouldn't be able to honour the contract long term.

Vince had already been burned when his Women's Champ defected to WCW and was seen dumping her WWF belt into the trash on her first appearance.

Vince couldn't have his most prestigious title go the same way.

Brett and HBKs egos also play a role here, they hated each other. No way would Brett drop the belt to HBK on PPV in front of his home crowd Vince wanted the belt back asap - so opted for the piss poorly planned screwjob you saw above. Hart was warned it was coming by several wrestlers prior to the PPV. Vader advised him to kick out of covers straight away - he took his eye off the ball allowing HBK to put him the Sharpshooter in the first place.

Aaanyway the most important thing about the MSJ was that it lead directly to the creation of the McMahon character and the Attitude Era.
