Having mentioned it, here's one for you (Mods, if you want me to start a new thread let me know)...

Fantasy Festival. Three nights, five bands each night, pick your ultimate line up for a festival. Go...

music is subjective there aren't any right or wrong answers surely  ? Apart from Queen  as we all know they are pants

Well to a certain extent surely. For instance, take the U2 blokes; Larry Carlton could play anything that The Edge(?) could play I guess. Steve Gadd could play anything that whoever the U2 drummer is .. but they couldn't play what Carlton and Gadd can play. So I guess that makes the latter 2, better musicians. Vocalists - definitely subjective.

What makes a band better than another band?

Musicianship, or the end product?

Yes that's a great point and probably best illustrated by The Beatles.

Current bands, or can I pick dead people?

I'm going to say the end product. There are several bands with superb musicianship, but it's all a bit meh when listening to it. It's not to say musicianship is overrated or it's all meh, but sometimes it feels a bit meaningless. Being creative and progressive outshines anything that's being played at the highest standard.

Very diverse. I thought about mixing mine up a bit with a bit more light and shade, but I thought **** it.

Went with the skids which is Stuart Adamson anyway , just thought they'd fit the heavier guitar theme of my day ... they can also throw a few BC songs in anyway :)
