The Moral Maze - Age of Consent

Have we established yet the cut off age that’s an acceptable age for paying for porn rather than using the free stuff?

This feels like one of those hilarious discussions where someone in their 20’s suddenly realises but can’t accept that old people still shag.

I’m intrigued in who actually pays for porn, when you can get it all free

Somebody upstream asked a question about paying for porn and it made me think, had I ever paid. Then I remembered the olden times when you had to go to a different part of town and buy a jazz mag. That then made me wonder what had happened to the jazz mag industry and I’ve since found myself checking out the top shelf in shops, and I think that industry has disappeared. I don’t doubt there’s still more niche stuff in hobby shops, but it looks to me like everyday newsagent porn has gone.

They needed a campaign, like the old ‘home taping is killing music’.

’phone wanking is killing jazz mags’

Okay I won't look anymore, pass me your 18 year old daughters (if you had one), number and I'll ask her to send me some nudies for £500 so I can polish my rocket. Or would you rather I just browse the inter web, for randoms. Admitted they are possibly both immoral, but I would say one is worse then the other.

A lot has been said by posters such as @Mark Albrighton or @Stevo985 since you quoted me and they've said most of what I would have.

One thing I would add though is that even in your imaginary scenario, it doesn't really matter what my thoughts on it would be. If my imaginary 18 year old daughter was selling her nudes to 60 year old men, it doesn't matter if I don't like it.

Neither of them would be braking the law and they're both consenting adults who can do what they like, no matter how I or anyone else felt about it.

I'm also fully aware of the fact that when I was about that age that I did plenty of things that my parents would have objections to if they knew. Some legal, some not. Including actually sleeping with women about 20/25 year's older than me, which is probably worse than anything that appears to have happened here but at the time I wasn't condemned for it.

For me to condemn people engaging in morally questionable but ultimately legal activities would make me a hypocritic.

I'd argue there's a hell of a lot of people on here who would also did some dodgy things when they were young.

Quick question for you though, when you turn 60 are you only going to watch porn of 50 year old woman? Where would your own morally acceptable line be?

I had sympathy with him at first but the more i read the more it was dodgey to me. It definitely for me aounded like he commited a grooming affair. How he hasnt been investigated properly ill never know.

What are the facts you know. The facts.

The only known fact at this point is his brother is a paedophile, in prison and once told he didn't go to the police. The only element of that which could be laid at Schofield's feet is that he didn't go to the police.

There is no story about his inappropriate behaviour with an underage male.

Well no not quite, the inappropriate behaviour with a minor only became inappropriate in retrospect when the minor was older as far as we know. Sure it’s possible it was inappropriate early but that isn’t a fact

Quite, im merely pointing out why hasnt it been investigated further? Huw appears to have done less than schofield and its been a witch hunt on him.

Huw doesn't seem to be a media darling.

All im interested in is justice for wrong doing and appropriate action on those individuals

It was dominating the news on completely false pretenses, that 1) the 'victim' was underage and 2) the 'victim' was the one reporting it to authorities.

As soon as mental health was mentioned it disappeared just like schofield

If andrew tate (whether you like his views or not) said his mental health was in jeopardy would this disappear on the news too?
