I think I remember catching a bit of grief for even suggesting this thought in January, but here I go again: I hope our recruitment team is extremely disciplined and selfish about guarding information and closing down leaks. ("Of course they are!" were the replies I think I recall from the last window.)

I think we'll always do better when we can cement deals out of the scrutiny of the twitterverse, and the press, and fan forums, and as excited as I am about reading all the various rumours, I still remain convinced that some of the best potential deals aren't ones anyone but a tiny core of recruiters and Emery etc. know about. Maybe that's a naive thought in 2023. But I'm hoping there will be some total under-the-radar ****-ing amazing surprises. Indeed, I'm counting on it.

But again, we can be as secretive as we want, Spanish and French clubs in particular leak like a sieve

He's already done his ACL twice.

Do we really want to fork out 35m so he can do the treble?

Take the advice of the people who specialise in this field tbh.

On the surface it would be a no from me too on the basis of two ACL but if the doctor says it is fine…..

I don’t think he scores enough anywhere tbh

Would be perfect to partner Watkins in the deeper striker role, but I’m afraid he’d spend more time on the sick bed than Diego Carlos.

On a separate note, he was a Monchi signing at Roma, one of the few signings he got right there. Maybe Monchi is imminent?

What am I missing? Looks like €5m player with Tonev vibes

Worth noting Monchi signed him for Roma … also it’s not like it’s the 90’s knee reconstruction surgery is relatively simple based on the severity obviously … He is a class dribbler and has quite good defensive stats. I personally think it’s worth the risk Vs reward IF Emery wants him, the data backs it up and crucially if the medical team are satisfied.

Good point. I suppose sellers want/need to promote sales, too — it’s in their interest to make Jacques Footballer seem huge.

What am I missing? Previous season similar stats

we told Lange we wanted to build a squad capable of challenging for the treble.

Lange clearly misunderstood this instruction......

That Zaniolo would be 20 mill max I'd imagine, Roma desperate to get rid after his comments no way anyone activates his release cause.

Not sure he's worth the risk even at that price.

He doesn't play for Roma anymore. Galatasaray bought him permanently

are we still in for williams

Seriously though, how would we know? Only a handful of people would have the latest on our interest (if we have any) and everyone else is just guessing. I include the press in that, so no need to get your knickers in a twist if they say he or any other player doesn't want to come.

You said he has quite good defensive stats and one of best stats sites says he doesn't plus injury issues. Very tenuous link anyway
