When we signed Digne, we thought he'd be a significant upgrade on Targett - he really hasn't been, hence we have purchased yet another LB. When we signed Bailey and Buendia, the club not only thought but communicated to fans that they would make up for the loss of Grealish. Villa never think they're making bad signings. Perhaps that's part of the problem, we're a bit naive and gullible in thinking every player worth X million pounds must therefore be alright. Moreno might be great, or he might be pants. MrBlack Posted January 13, 2023 Share Posted January 13, 2023 (edited) Not sure if this has been linked/ posted before but he seems to me to be a better winger than a full back. Season long heat map has him fairly high up the pitch, and his defensive stats aren't amazing. ~50% of ground duels won, only 33% our aerial duels won. His passing stats are better, but a crosser he ain't. This is based on 15 games this season: He's bringing speed, dribbling, and huge levels of ground coverage. Seems to be an ideal Digne replacement, in Emery's system of attacking down the left, but think we'd want a specialist in front of him to take advantage of his skills.
