Feel bad for the children. However, the more the wheels come off Barca, the better.

They are handing out a new and much improved contract to Xavi thou so at least the money is going to someone who's already immensely rich. :thumb:

A club who always prioritised the most needy. Football is honestly better off without them.

FC Barcelona is threatened with a ban from the Champions League – balance sheets “a mess”

The Spanish football club FC Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the Champions League. The reason is violations of the financial regulations of the European Football Association. Insiders say the club's balance sheets are "a mess".FC Barcelona is threatened with exclusion from the Champions League from the 2024/2025 season. WELT AM SONNTAG learned this from circles of the European Football Association Uefa and the traditional Spanish club.

The reason for the sanction are violations of UEFA's financial regulations, according to which clubs are obliged to offset expenses with corresponding income. The most recent three-year cycle is always evaluated.

Barca announced a net profit of 304 million euros in September. This meant that possible penalties, which, according to information from this newspaper, had been discussed internally for more than a year, seemed to be off the table.

However, with regard to the association's financial regulations, only sales that can be directly attributed to the football business are decisive. The highly indebted club's most recent annual report also reported income amounting to hundreds of millions of euros, for example from the sale of future TV and marketing rights as well as from other sports.

However, these have no influence on UEFA’s assessment. Behind the scenes in the association it was said that the club's balance sheets were "a mess". There is talk of a Champions League ban “for two to three years”. “The greater the loss, the greater the penalty,” they told this newspaper. UEFA had already sentenced Barcelona to a fine of 500,000 euros in the summer. The association's financial control chamber concluded at the time that the club had incorrectly declared profits from the sale of intangible assets that did not constitute relevant income.

They are recording a profit because they’ve sold lots of future TV revenues. Its financial stupidly of the highest order.

Like me selling next years wages without having a plan to pay next years bills.

That is daft!

"Mess of a Club"

A quick lawsuit so they have money to sign a new midfielder :D

Quote

Earlier this season, Barcelona reached an agreement with Libero for 10% of Barca Visions. This was used as a “lever”, meaning that the club could use the money towards balancing its books, which would also allow for funds to be used on improving the first team.

However, no money was ever received, and the deadline for payment having now passed, Barcelona have taken the decision to use Libero over the non-payment of €40m, as reported by EFE (via El Partidazo de Cope). Barcelona will hope to be able to claim the money owed during these legal proceedings, and quickly too, as it is seen as being essential towards the signing of a new midfielder in January,

I can’t believe they get away with this stuff. If I remember correctly, they were asking (telling) players to take a pay cut, then spent €50m on Ferran Torres.

They couldnt afford a happy meal . This club somehow decided to pay Messi something like a million a week despite him being the most loyal player who would have never left them . So despite being an iconic club they fully deserve what has happened.  Makes Peter Risdale look like a genius.

And weirdly loads of players agreed to a pay cut. No idea why?

so, apparently they got around some financial restrictions to get Felix, by registering him as on 350k a year......(so less than 7k a week?!?!!?)

Apparently the Spanish FA (or whatever their name is), has now made them increase it to 3.5m a year (so 70k ish a week - which is mad, as he's on way more than that).

How do they keep getting away with this nonsense?!

Felix apparently took a massive pay cut to sign for them.

Stories seems to be that La Liga are forcing Barcelona to pay him the average salary at Barcelona

its mad tho isnt it?

They are just desperately trying to pull every available string to keep themselves on top, while slowly sinking themselves, but being allowed to do it.

They are like a drug/drink addict selling their assets and themselves for the next hit, no matter the long term impact.

i wonder how long it can go on?, i guess indefinitely, is anyone actually going to hold them to account?, doubt it.

They'll keep at it until they join the Saudi Super League. Their entire "strategy" is to keep spending money they don't have and bank on the Super League windfall. Sadly it'll probably work since that league will happen one way or another.

Reading around their forums the fans seem fine with it or in denial. They are looking forward to the Super League because it's unfair that other clubs have more money than them. Oh and Felix was seen smiling on the bench when Barca conceded a goal last week so some of the fans have started to hate him now because he doesn't care or something.

In fairness our fans hated him before we made a bid so might be just one of them people that people dont like 😝

There’s still something very fishy going on, no way he’s on so little wages. They must be offering him something else off the books.
