I had a look on a Southampton forum and a lot of them were saying that they have a soft spot for Bournemouth. Think from a fans point of view they'd rather see us go down, as we'd been seen as more of a threat in the premier league.

Why would Southampton want us down? Its the essiest 6 points they gor this year

That's just two games in isolation, they'd see us as more likely to overtake them as a force in the premier league than Bournemouth, for the simple fact that we have more resources and more pulling power.

If you imagine we were midtable and Newcastle and Bournemouth were in a relegation battle, we'd probably prefer Newcastle to go down, even though we took four points from them and none from Bournemouth, for the same reason, Newcastle have the bigger potential to be a threat to us.

Unless it's an arch rival it's the way most fans will think, although it's becoming less of a novelty fans of other clubs also love to see big clubs relegated.

I don't think Southampton fans will be desperate for us to be relegated, but I bet if you were survey them more would take us going down than would take Bournemouth going down.

How sad is that a team that lost 9-0 and in the relgation zone written off are deciding our fate.

Also hilarious people claim our squad isn't good enough to stay up. 🤣

Well that's based on evidence. This idea that we should be safe is based on nothing.

What a pointless argument we may as well never talk about football again unless we talking in facts.

Facts tend to help, especially when the other side of your argument is so hilarious.

You could also say it's a fact that Smith hasn't been good enough to keep us up. The idea that he's good enough and it's all the team's fault is equally just as much of an opinion rather than a fact.

Also, y'all thinking we're down already - smugly, I already thought we were down and had 'factored in' a point at Everton. 4 points from last 2 games, no reason we can't go unbeaten to the end of the season. Game on.

Its incredible that we have only managed 6 points in the 8 games since restart and we still have a miniscule chance. It was probably the easiest you’ll get to stay up as a newly promoted team.

Feel absolutely gutted waking up this morning. After Calvert-Lewin put that chance wide we needed to break up the game and manage it better; we still had the chance to throw on 3 more subs. Anything just to stem the tide and pattern that was beginning to happen in that last 10 mins. Can never trust this fragile mentality the players have. But its the story of the season, cant put the ball in the net one end, cant keep it out the other. We never win the games with nothing in it, always manage to throw away leads. Deflating.

4 points still means relegation.

Even if it would be enough point wise our GD is shit.

Man city's last 2 results against Watford were 8-0 and 6-0 so Its not impossible we can overturn their gd but I can't see us getting 4 points so it's pretty irrelevant

The real problem is bournemouth have two easy games.

Southampton isn't an easy game for Bournemouth, Southampton have the fifth best away record in the league, Man CIty who have the second best, have only taken three more points away from home. Also think that Everton will be determined to finish the season with a win.

Never said any different.

Smith hasn't been able to keep this squad up and the squad has been terrible.

There is still nothing to base the idea that we should have survived on. Looking at the squad and injuries and lack of improvement in january at least provides more evidence than Smith is shit.
