So I've been sent home as 3 positive cases in my class.

At my school we currently have 120 children and 8 staff self isolating. It's worse than any other time before.

I'm thinking this rule needs to change.

I think the plan is just to struggle through the next three weeks and then desperately pray that the summer holiday fixes everything. Can't see anything changing policy-wise before then.

I think clubs will open and pubs allow general admission but he's pretty much paved the way today for many restrictions to stay. For example I think wearing masks in shops will stay.

It’s the new norm isn’t it. Certain restrictions will come and go depending on how things are .

Yeah, that's how I see it.  Until such time as the most of the world is vaccinated we're going to get new strains and I can't see the whole world having regular boosters so new variants will flare up from time to time.

But first world oldies will have annual jabs like with the flu vaccine.

I think the days of having multi country holidays has long gone now. I've done some trips where we've been to 6 or 7 countries in 3 weeks. Can't ever see that happening again.

Just glad I got to see a fair bit of the world while I could.

I read something the other day, and some disease/infection specialist reckons it will be around for years, maybe for a very very long time, but our bodies will adapt to it like they do to colds etc. He also thinks it will eventually weaken and we’ll be left with small outbreaks popping up around the globe. Obviously vaccines are the way to go and as you say it will be treated like the flu jabs for the elderly. I’m not sure I fancy getting vaccinated every year for it, but we’ll see.

The weird thing so far is that normally when viruses mutate to be more contagious, they become less deadly.  This virus seems to be defying convention and becoming more contagious AND more dangerous.  Obviously not a good mix.

Yes that’s true , but I still think overall we are not dealing with something that’s really really dangerous. Majority of people are fine after catching it, with many not even being ill of it. Be interesting to see where it goes next in terms of mutating. It’s obviously a concern and maybe if it wasn’t for the vaccines I’d be viewing it as a lot more dangerous. Not that I’m not taking it seriously. The vaccine programme has been great .

Had my first jab (AZ) in May, felt fine other than a mild headache for a few hours.

Was on my stag do Saturday, felt crap since (presumed hungover) flu like symptoms initially, headache, fatigue etc.. got a text yesterday saying I'd come into contact with someone that had tested positive and to isolate for 7 days. Went for a test.

Result came this morning I was positive! Worst I've felt today, not moved out of bed, tight chest and cough being the worst.

3 of the 14 friends I was with also tested positive, plus their friends - seems really rife where we are at the moment.

Not posted on here till now but continually read to see what peoples thoughts are on the whole virus / vaccines ETC, the general consensus I've found is that the majority of people are pro vaccines,  but in my circle of friends (30's / 40's) majority do not want the vaccine, some are  refusing it and some have had one jab but regretting it (cos of the constant moving of the goal posts by the government etc) so debating the second jab!

I'm totally perplexed by it all to be honest. Just want a return to 'normality'!

It’s difficult because the whole planet is on its knees because of this virus.

The only way back to normality is if enough people have the vaccines.

A few “my body, my rules” doesn’t matter. If that group is big enough then it doesn’t just affect them. It’s on everyone. We’re stuck with restrictions on our daily lives because of selfish misinformed people.

To be fair, we can get to herd immunity through acquired immunity too. At the end of the day, people who won't take the vaccine are making a choice that they would rather either not get the virus or get infected, and risk getting sick.

I don't like their perspective, and I don't agree with it, but there are clearly a lot of people who feel this way and we might run out of people who want a vaccine before we reach the herd immunity threshold. So we have to plan for that possibility.

Nah, chin up mate. I know it's depressing but the restrictions aren't going to last forever, because the public isn't going to consent forever.

My sister in law who is early 40's and perfectly fit is pretty ill with it as was her 15 year old son.

She's had 1 dose, god knows how ill she would have been with no doses.

She saw a doctor who told her that the thing that has taken them aback with Delta is how much sicker young people are who are catching this variant compared to the earlier variants.

If you are hovering over having it or not, or think you'll be OK because you're young my advice is to take it.  This new varient is much worse and hitting younger people who get it much harder.

Vaccines are clearly the way forward. Infections are going up, but it’s to be expected with more people mingling. I’ve got no problem with someone who doesn’t want the vaccine for a valid reason , but there’s still the odd person I talk to who are conspiracy nut jobs and it’s frustrating hear them come out with their crazy reasons for not having it. I’m not thrilled about having a vaccine year after year, but I’ ll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Yeah it seems to be effecting teens more than the other variants. WHO are still stating that teens and children are relatively safe from it providing there’s no  serious underlying health issues. Once we’ve got adults vaccinated, will they then go after teens and even children then?
