Just a thought, would Cardiff want their insurers to pay the fee instead of paying the fee themselves and then being reimbursed by the insurers?

I don't think so (well, they might want that, but there's no basis for it).  They are presumably insured against the player not being able to play for some reason, same as with the rest of the squad.  The fact that they haven't yet paid the transfer fee is immaterial, and the insurers have no relationship with the selling club.  I assume the insurers will pay Cardiff and no-one else.  Cardiff might prefer to makes Nantes wait until the insurance money comes in before paying, but there's absolutely no basis that I can see for expecting Nantes to wait for the part of the payment they should already have received.

In the context of a tragedy like this, creating a situation where there are arguments over the payment looks shabby, and incredibly disrespectful to the dead player's family.

I agree but it's Cardiff who are being disrespectful in my view

Very sad indeed. May he rip in peace and gives the family closure.

Absolutely. I am pleased they crowdfunded the intense search and it was worth it as he has now been found and equally it offers closure which you cannot put a price on imo.

Such tragic events. I feel for the family in this sad time.  😢

Hopefully they make examples out of the two idiotic Southampton fans yesterday making Aeroplane gestures at Cardiff fans

Couple of words removed.

What an absolute pair of tubes. Hopefully they'll both get blown into the path of an incoming train by storm Erik.

Brilliant to see Mbappe has donated £27k to the Go Fund Me site to find the pilot, David Ibbotson. On top of the 30,000 EUR donated to find Sala

Makes me like him even more.

The wreck was announced by official authorities belonging to Argentine player Emiliano Sala on the plane in the Channel. However, the aircraft presented to the public in underwater exploration studies were claimed to be different from the airplanes taken out of the sea yesterday.

Is what was broadcast right?

Yet, this one below is what was recovered or not?

Fwiw. This picture looks too old and the plane too intact.

Sala's plane apparantly cannot be removed yet?

Sala's plane is unlikely to ever be recovered from the seabed.

That is a completely different plane from years ago. Some clickbait article claiming it was recovered yesterday.

Emiliano Sala agent Willie McKay challenges Cardiff to public Q&A

The agent who brokered Emiliano Sala's £15m transfer from Nantes has challenged Cardiff's bosses to a public Q&A in an attempt to prove he has done nothing wrong, Sky Sports News has learned.

Willie McKay has confirmed to Sky News that he arranged and paid for flights linked to the Sala deal, before the Argentine striker's death.

Sala died when the light aircraft he was on crashed into the English Channel on January 21. His body was recovered on February 6. Pilot David Ibbotson remains missing.

McKay has told Sky Sports News he feels vilified by the media, and he and his family have faced threats of violence on social media, since the tragedy.

He has likened his part in the plane accident to booking a taxi. While he ordered and paid for the flights, he is adamant he did not own the plane, or have any responsibility for its safety.

He also claims that Cardiff's hierarchy knew all about the flight bookings, and were involved in all the meetings where it was discussed.

Now, McKay has challenged Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, manager Neil Warnock, chairman Mehmet Dalman, chief executive Ken Choo and the club's lawyer Chris Knott, to join him in a public meeting where all the issues can be aired.

Cardiff have told Sky Sports News they will not be taking up McKay's offer.

Sky Sports News has seen the email from McKay to Cardiff's solicitor, where he points out he wants the meeting to take place in the full gaze of the media, so that what is said can be recorded.

It has also emerged that McKay organised many more flights for Cardiff in the months before Sala's death, including several that took Warnock over to France to monitor transfer targets, and discuss possible deals.

Documents seen by Sky show that McKay first flew a delegation from Cardiff to Nantes on December 5 - Warnock and assistant manager Kevin Blackwell were on board.
