Lichfield Dean Posted June 30, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted June 30, 2018 Play aguero, he scores. I mean seriously what kind of moron leaves one of the best strikers in the world on the bench, especially with service from Messi? Insane.

sharkyvilla
Just now, Keyblade said: There was a whole minute at least eaten up by that stoppage, but the referee gives 20 seconds? Madness. Serves Otamendi right though. France definitely deserved it, their star players delivered today. I'd not seen a huge amount of Mbappe but can see a lot of fat Ronaldo in him.

Argentina just need this generation to retire now. Messi, Di Maria, Otamendi, Mercado, Aguero, Banega, Higuain will all be 34-35 when 2022 starts and you don't win tournaments with half your team that age. Copa America next summer should be Icardi upfront with Dybala in number 10 position. That will be alright I suspect given what they show weekly in Seria A. Argentina need to find some cool headed defenders from somewhere in next 4 years as the ones they have now are total car crash against pace and movement. Think anyway the cult of Messi has become too big for them. Bit like Henry at Arsenal in his final 18 months. It might do them some good long term if he just retires after this. OutByEaster? Posted June 30, 2018 Moderator Share Posted June 30, 2018 Brilliant game. Argentina got the shape and selection all wrong - the French were organised and they used their talented players to the things they're good at. Argentina don't have a midfield - they'd kill for Jordan Henderson - they've probably got fourteen of them at home but this manager's a wazzock. France could go a long way. If getting rid of Messi brings Icardi in then that would be good. However the 'next' generation includes the likes of Pavon and Meza and they are not very good at all. They have a decade of mediocrity ahead of them.
rodders0223
Otamendi and Rojo, two of the thickest people to ever set foot on a football pitch. Good riddance.

Hard to say he is when he has spent his career at a club team that has for a period of time been arguably the best ever club side and outside of that still one of the very best in the world. On top of that his performances at international tournaments have hardly distinguished himself as the best ever. Messi would not be good enough to do what Maradona did at Napoli for instance. Go to a mediocre team in the hardest league in the world and drag them to league titles and when they weren't winning the league still very much up there with the big boys. sharkyvilla
And the tiresome Messi conversation starts. He really should have won the world cup here, to be fair... 1

They could still put this out at Copa America next summer: Lo Celso Leandro Paredes Ascacibar Lanzini (if he gets back playing in January) Dybala Icardi That's pretty decent. Most of those have done well in europe and Ascacibar at Stuttgart sounds like exciting talent so will try to watch more of them next season. People probably don't know midfielders well but can't be any worse than muck like Enzo Perez and Biglia. Paredes is a high energy box to box player which they just don't have in the squad now. No idea what sort of youth they have coming through in defence. That will probably remain a massive problem area for them. HongKongVillan Posted June 30, 2018 VT Supporter Share Posted June 30, 2018 Makes you wonder how Woho and otamendi are earning 100k plus a week being shit at what they were suppose to do, defend.

He's a shadow of the player he was though, yes his stats are still insane for Barcelona but look at some games from 2010-2013, he had a whole other gear, the best player I've seen in my lifetime. It's different with City as basically the only defending you have to do is last-ditch so he's probably well suited to playing for Guardiola. Working in a team that needs organising and he's horrendous. Rojo is just abysmal all round. You'd think Mourinho wouldn't even tolerate having him at the club.
