Seat68
I used to drink 2 bottles of wine every night. I miss them days.
lapal_fan
It's a waste of money, then you have to go through the already shit bit of waking up and functioning the next day! 2 bottles of wine and I'd be on my back alseep
darrenm
Same as mooney more or less. On average, 1-2 bottles of real ale a night, so about a pint & half, but some nights none and some nights 2 or 3. When I'm out it's not much more because I get room spinny very easily and don't like puking.

Seat68
I guess I was a functioning alcoholic. Never missed work, was never out of control, just loved and still love alcohol.

Popular Post mjmooney Posted December 3, 2015 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted December 3, 2015 I don't love alcohol per se, I just love certain alcoholic drinks. Good beer, wine, whiskey, brandy. If I can only get inferior examples of those, then I won't drink. I do have the odd day, or even few days without. I don't really like it when that happens, I miss it, and the thought of being teetotal would greatly depress me. BUT, the thought of drinking larger amounts horrifies me, as it always makes me feel horribly ill for days afterwards. I absolutely could not drink some of the amounts quoted in this thread by the binge drinkers. Truly frightening.

mjmooney Posted December 3, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted December 3, 2015 The litre of vodka a day genuinely made me gag [emoji38] that's absolutely obscene! Thing is, I can see how that would be easy. Smallish regular amounts, spread out over the day, no problem. You'd just stay nicely hazy the whole time, therein lies the appeal - and the danger. I could do that quite easily if I wanted (thankfully I don't). It's the big weekend sessions on gallons of lager plus god knows what else that are totally beyond my comprehension. Can't imagine it now. If the current Villa situation can't get me back on the source then I think I'm safe for now.
darrenm
I've gotten _very_ comfy having the 1-3 bottles of ale after exercising on the night. It's like a super-relaxation aid after exerting. I do have a night or 2 off every now and again just to make sure I don't have some withdrawal symptoms or anything but I'm always fine.
lapal_fan
I've just finished a major piece of compliance work today (not finished, but we're out of the pressure zone). I know I've got a bottle of Prosecco when I get back (wife got a new job, I bought her some G.H Mumm Champagne, but we drank that last night with friends who have had a baby, seemed appropriate), but I might crack the whisky open and try and fall asleep before
Dr_Pangloss
Sadly a bit of a binge drinker, might only go out once every couple of week, but when I do, I comfortably sink a good 10 pints before starting on the shorts.

My nan and grandad have always been fond of a beer, with grandad being a bit of a local darts superstar and nan being a Darts wag, they were always big on the Black Country social scene but they've always, even now stuck to the Monday/Tuesday no alcohol rule for the same reason. It's mad that they've got to 82 and 79 and still have those two days to 'give their body a rest'. Respect to the old uns.

This is the style I cannot imagine doing. Either the dry days, or the crazy quantity in the binges. 10 pints and shorts would make me really, really ill. Out of interest, are you a big bloke? I often wonder whether that affects how much you can put away.
AVFCDAN
Mon-Thur - Generally nothing Friday or Sat - Could be anything from a couple of pints up to a massive session such as last Friday where I probably had 5 pints and at least 6 double vodkas. Sun - Never I'm happy with my drinking, the thought of drinking every night, even moderate amounts, scares me a lot more than the odd binge sessions. Binging every now and then shows a lot more control than drinking every day imo.
Xela
I can go months without drinking and then drink heavily for a month if I have a busy social calendar. For instance, December is always a boozy month as people are a lot more social and there is always drinks/parties going on etc. I'm out 4 days next week and I'll be drinking a fair amount on each night. However, come January and it will probably be a dry month. I have no desire to drink at home on my own. For me drinking = socialising
