Summer Speculation 2015

Cabaye would be amazing but he's 30...

A lot can happen in the 2 or 3 years he could give us.

I dont doubt that.. but the talk is a 10 million fee and id imagine hes not on cheap wages either.. so its a massive gamble.. a club like ours cant really take after just clearing the books of Bent etc.. we need players with re sale value.. players around 24-26 that we can build teams around for years.

Unless we are being taken over by mega rich owners then who gives a shit :)

Arsenal and Liverpool are targeting him, but not good enough for us?

I loved him at Bordeaux but I don't think he's done anything since. Injuries, maybe some other issues as eluded to. I'm positive that neither of those two clubs are targetting him.

He's not even 30, he's 29. 30 in January.

If we could get him he'd be the biggest signing (at time of signing) since Milner imo.

Did anyone realise that Yoann Gourcuff is available on a free from Lyon?

Would be a great signing.

Apparently been injured A LOT so no thanks.

Just because a paper said a club is after someone doesn't make it true

Great - that means we are after no-one and Benteke's staying put!  :P  :thumb:

It means pay absolutely no attention to links in papers, because 99.9% of them are garbage

Assuming we get Richards and alreday have Sinclair I would say we must get a keeper, a left back, a centre back and a midfielder.

If Beneteke goes obviously another striker.

I'd say we need two midfielders. Cleverley's replacement and his understudy.

Maybe we're hoping Gardner can be involved?

Well we've got Sinclair and Richards, might as well go for John Guidetti

I expect that he will be. Sherwood described him as a box-to-box midfielder and his successful spell at Forest came playing a holding role, so he'll probably be challenging for those spots.

If we want two players for every position then; Sánchez and Westwood the defensive-midfielders, Delph and Gardner the box-to-box midfielders and two new players to compete for the more advanced #8 position.

Brum Mail saying we're still in for Trippier, and Lowton may be offered to sweeten the deal. They suggest that Richards is coming in to play at centre back.

Is anybody else confused over the transfer/takeover situation? wouldn't signing or selling any player alter the figures and financial numbers of the club. Surely it would make more sense not to change the squad for the 6 week period to see if a takeover happens or not, then either way kick on from there.

It depends how you read into it. I'd say that if we've been authorised to sign a player, especially on the sort of wages being reported, whilst in an exclusivity period it could mean the sale is progressing quickly and the incoming owners have already given the go ahead for this deal.

Or , it could mean the complete opposite.
