Bother is by their lead singers other project, Stone Sour, which is a more straight up rock band.

by them is bloody good. It's pretty surprising that the bloke can switch from having a half decent voice to that shite shouty guttural crap so well.

Surprisingly Slipknot do a fair few more down tempo less growled vocal stuff, and most tend to be pretty decent. Vermillion Pt 2, and Danger Keep Away are pretty decent, as is Circle.

Just finished listening to Moby - Last Night Remixed as mentioned a few pages back. Here's my review for the paper.

Moby – Last Night Remixed

For those of you who see the words ‘Last Night’ and instantly think of The Strokes, shame on you. In April this year Moby used this title for his eighth studio album (EIGHTH!). It received much critical acclaim but only reached 28 in the UK album chart, as is so often the way. Neil Diamond topped the album chart that week, which shows how much you can read into that chart placing.

This CD features remixes of that album from your standard commercial DJs such as Shapeshifters and Freemasons. While it does make for a good listen it’s difficult to see any reason it was made, other than the obvious: to make money. The standout tracks are I Love to Move in Here (Seamus Haji remix) and The Stars (AC Slater remix), but then they were the standout tracks on the original too.

If this album was an original, ie. this was not a bunch of remixes and Moby’s album didn’t exist, then it would probably stand out as a very good album. But it is, so it doesn’t. If you add that to the fact that despite there being fourteen tracks on the album, the same number as the original, there’s six of those tracks from the original missing and they’re just replaced with other remixes of the original tracks. So you end up with two remixes of four of the tracks and a ridiculous three of “I like to move in here”. In addition, Last Night is the track off the original album. Which all in all, leaves you feeling a bit short changed.

If the original album was a 7/10 this would probably be a 5. If you enjoyed the original you might enjoy this. But if you don’t have the original then certainly get that rather than this one. The only situation that you might conceivably listen to this version rather than the original is if you wanted to stick it on in the build up to a night out. But even then there’s still a convincing argument for putting on the original.

This is not a bad album by any means, but unlike the original, it’s not one you’ll listen to over and over again. If you’re only going to get one album this week, get the new Fat Freddy’s Drop one over this. You won’t regret it. 5/10
