Zatman
I have said for a few seasons when people said Randy should sell straightaway that nobody is buying football clubs anymore and by what looks like a lack of interest in Villa I think that is the case

Jarpie
Anyone know why Newcastle havent found a buyer after all this time? Is it because pie man is looking to much? I don't think he's really selling Newcastle, it's too good marketing tool for Ashley, also he probably loves to troll Newcastle fans.
jacketspuds
Anyone know why Newcastle havent found a buyer after all this time? Is it because pie man is looking to much? I would imagine turning a profit 3 years on the spin has suppressed Ashley's desire to sell the club.
niblot
I think if Lambert was to go we would put Cowans or someone like that in charge in a caretaker role. Like after O'Neill. And to be honest I think that might work, especially with Cowans, as what we'll need in that time - end of preseason, first few games, is someone who knows the club and, crucially perhaps, knows the youth setup and can bring a few of the younger players in to cover injuries. Even if results weren't great I think a temp manager with that approach would be appreciated by the fans, rather than, as someone suggested, a journeyman. But. Lambert hasn't gone anywhere. We haven't been sold. So it's all hypothetical and about as relevant as the last 200 pages of this thread.... Hasn't Cowans expressed his dislike at working with the first team, if I recall correctly he would much rather work with the youth team. Why would we put Sid in the uncomfortable position of pressuring him to take on a role (albeit temporarily) that he does not want? It makes sense for Lambert to stay put no matter how close a takeover is, why sack him now before everything is sorted and there is still a possibility that any potential deal might fall through? Look at what happened to McDermott at Leeds.
AshVilla
Anyone know why Newcastle havent found a buyer after all this time? Is it because pie man is looking to much? Or Everton a side consistently finishing around the top 6 spots never seem to find a buyer

Popular Post mini_beest
The thing is guys you have to look at the situation from the outside in. Lerner has put the club up for sale. The chairman will not spend anymore if he doesn't have to on new players, contracts or deals of any sort. Sacking Lambert & Faulkner would of meant another hit on Lerner's wallet. For me, these pair will go when the new owner/s comes in. For starters, Lambert has one year left on his deal so its not going to be a massive hit on the wallet to whoever comes in. As for Faulkner, he is a good business man, but certainly whoever comes in will want to bring in their own people. The fact Albrighton was offered a deal & refused seems to point at the fact Villa offered him something either the same or less than what he is currently on. I'll be honest he will be missed but I certainly wouldn't offer him the money Leicester are rumoured to have put on the table for him (around 35k pw). The fact the club are also letting Del Boy & Gardner go as well doesn't surprise me. What does is the fact we are not offering contracts to those who were rumoured to be picking up new deals this summer (Delph, Vlaar, Gabby but a few) this to me is a clear indication that Lerner isn't prepared to throw money into the wages pot & more than likely there'll be a sign on fee as well. How the hell are we going to sign Lescott according to Nursey I do not know. The other factor is when Tom Ross quizzed him about the takeover Lambert commented to the fact he knows what is going on & commented about if something happens in a week or 2 he then quickly backed tracked & added 3 weeks, a month, 6 months, how ever long it takes to sell a football club. You only have to listen to the interview to hear the bloke is gutted, he knows he's on borrow time at Villa and he has been while and totally screwed over by Lerner. The interesting point for me will be if Faulkner goes off to the world cup with the FA. The other factor is Bob Rich. TheTrees did an excellent job yet again reporting that not only was McLaughlin and Stern in town but Robert Rich has come to BHX too and his plane is on the ramp meaning it's not moving anytime soon. Even if Bob was coming over to look around with Faulkner & Co, you wouldn't bring in Lawyers to look around the place. If anything you'd bring them in to look at the books or something to that effect. Even then, you could easily send them over electronic copies via PDF. It is slightly worrying times yes, but it is not business as usual in my mind behind the scenes at VP & I am pretty confident something will happen or even come out before the WC starts. Keep calm & carry on gang. Still another 5 weeks to go at least (according to Bryan Swanson).

If McLaughlin and Stern are still here then that has to be a positive in my view If Bob wasn't happy (if it is Villa he is looking at) the lawyers would be flying back too. Instead to me, its a case of they are looking over the books and trying to sort something out. Thats my view but lets see. Believe it when you see it gang. VillanousOne
I find it strange that Lerner would take a risk not signing existing players on new contracts - surely they are assets you would want to keep and make the club more valuable? And if there is a new contract embargo then why buy new players on presumably larger wages, does that not also present risk?

If McLaughlin and Stern are still here then that has to be a positive side personally. If Bob wasn't happy (if it is Villa he is looking at) the lawyers would be flying back too. You spend 8million on the kid, he now starts showing his potential and you risk losing him for nothing.

Agreed Silkh, it is all specualtion at the moment and it is difficult to say who's in for who. But bit strange the firm he is rumoured to use for his dealings has also lands in town. Fact the lawyers remain is good. IF he is looking at Villa Folski, it does indeed. The fact the lawyers are still here proves to be a positive whoever they are looking at. I am thinking it has to be looking through the books or getting paperwork sorted to get a deal in place. Cannot see why M and S (not the shop) are still in town if Bob was not interested in something. Edited May 20, 2014 by mini_beest
