Wainy316
In the mid 90's Britain had quite a cool image. I am very fond of years such as 95, 96, 97 and wish I was older during this time. These days with the proliferation of British celebrities going global I think we have a cool image in a lot of places worldwide. Especially in America (not in Australia they're already use to us). The only people who know how uncool Britain actually is is British people and anybody that is unfortunate enough to see Eastenders.
VT Supporter mjmooney Posted November 22, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted November 22, 2013 An attempt to re-invent the coolth of Britain in the 'swinging sixties', with Oasis standing in for The Beatles. I don't think so.

ender4
it really was Cool Britannia in the mid-90's, the UK was on a major buzz (credit binge in hindsight), and things were happening everywhere. That era was the best period of my life.

CrackpotForeigner
I do think that overall, British culture is the standard by which English-speaking culture should measure itself. That said, chav "culture" isn't so cool, and neither is internet spying. Overall, two marks off from a pretty decent score. Wait! The Daily Mail! Three marks off. tonyh29
2012 was the year of Cool Britannia Olympics , Diamond Jubilee ,Murry winning the US open , Johnson re-elected as London Mayor personally speaking it was probably the best year I've lived through ( all the stuff for the kids .. seeing the queen , the jubilee fly over with spitfires , red arrows ,Lancaster ,Mosquito's etc , the beacons being lit (we were sown at St Michaels Mount that night ) , Olympic flame coming through our home town , , Olympic cycling coming through our home town etc , going to events at the olympics , going to the paraolympics ) ... 2013 has been positively dull in comparison
villaajax
I don't know, Thatcher's death has got to be up there with the Jubilee as a national celebration as well as a big waste of money.
