    New Look Vt

Love the new look. Miss the avatars though, as it's usually thru them that I recognize posters.
  2. Not like the money has any direct effect on Petrov or his treatment. He's rich, I guess he has a good health insurance, hence he's getting top notch treatment. It's money raised for research, no matter how much the players donate it's not going to change his outcome or the way of treatment. Besides theres plenty of research on plenty of diseases, some of them worse then leukemia and a hell of a lot of other issues in this world that could use some funding.
  3. Got to love that picture. *Edit: someone posted a link allready.
  4. Damn I'm looking forward to seeing this lad play again!
  5. I was under the impression that he commands his area better then Given and he's a lot more aggressive when it comes to picking up crosses/corners/free kicks etc.
  6. Disappointed by his performance yesterday, did ok. But this is in my opinion one of his poorer matches the past 6 months. His touches and passes seemed off, it usually isn't. However, I thought the whole midfield looked a bit shaky yesterday. They all made quite similar mistakes, some more then others(And they were all brilliant at correcting them). I don't know if it's the nerves of playing at home. I think we've looked better away then at home the past year to be honest. Last time they played at home, they got booed of at half-time. Some might call it justified, but I believe it breeds pressure and nervousness. At times it might be a necessity though. I'm under the impression that they receive a hell of a lot more support away then what they do at home, however I'm just a balls-in-hand-feet-on-the-table-TV supporter. (Sorry for the digression) As for Ireland's wages, as BJ10 said no one would say no to a good salary, questions should be raised the the administration at B6 and not the player for accepting a good contract. If the reports of him being on 70k a week are true I completely understand why people expect more of him. With some time and patience I think he'll meet peoples expectations(not everyone obviously). If not, he should be offloaded. I truly believe he can play a huge part in our team though.
  7. Looked a lot better then I thought he would. Looks like he could be a great signing for us. Seems like we got to see both his strengths and weakness summed up today, compared to how he was described by a poster earlier in this thread.
  8. Seems like his head is working quicker then his legs at times, or the other way around. For every bad pass or first touch there seems to be a good one. Did anyone notice the 10sec of messi brilliance where he dribbled 4 swansea players, or was that all in my head?
  9. Don't know if it's the microphone setup at villa park, but it sounds like the crowd is watching golf.
  10. Like a beam of sunshine, shining through an arsehole.
  11. These stats? Irelands average last season: 2.3 tackles per game. (Cheik Tiote 2.8 N'zonzi 1.7) 2.6 interceptions. ( Cheik Tiote 2.5 N'zonzi 1.7 ) 0.6 clearances (Cheik Tiote 1.4 N'zonzi 2.3) 0.3 blocked shot.(Cheik Tiote 0.4 N'zonzi 0.2) Isn't it possible that all those stats would be higher than what they should be as we'd have been defending so much? Yup, just as his offensive play suffered. I expect it to be somewhat the other way around this season.
  12. These stats? Irelands average last season: 2.3 tackles per game. (Cheik Tiote 2.8 N'zonzi 1.7) 2.6 interceptions. ( Cheik Tiote 2.5 N'zonzi 1.7 ) 0.6 clearances (Cheik Tiote 1.4 N'zonzi 2.3) 0.3 blocked shot.(Cheik Tiote 0.4 N'zonzi 0.2)
  13. I'm starting to get the impression that you have a very simplistic view on football. I have quite a simple view on it myself, but come on. It consist of so much more then goals and assist. Chess isn't won by only the two moves you make before you put someone in chess mate. Steven Ireland did a better defensive job then N'zonzi last season, the player you've been creaming over during the transfer window, yet you write Steven Ireland off. I don't get it.
  14. We had 3 academy players in our XI, how many did NUFC have?
  15. Really like the look of him. But that occasional long ball he tries and always seem to miss annoys me.
  16. I might be lost in translation here, but wouldn't it be fickle if he kept being pessimistic and moan after a good performance? Or maybe it's fickle to get on his back for changing his view? Can't see anything wrong with changing your view after you see a positive change. John surely had some valid concerns. And we'd all share his view if there were another manager who shall not be named in charge doing the same signings. I have faith in Lambert, but as much as I hate to admit it that faith is more or less blind, however I prefer to remain naively positive then negative.
  17. Love how he commands his area. MOTM for me.
  18. We're doing good, pressing good. Bit clumsy in the final third though. Massive step up from the Everton game.
