    The problem here is how many times will it happen? Once - you can probably excuse it (although it was drink driving which to me is even worse..) he then moves club which immediately is a fresh new start and Pep obviously wants him to reign it in after all that nonsense with Foden and he STILL continues with his off field rubbish.

    I don’t think he will flop but it’s fair to say he isn’t the same player he was here. He just looks like another player in the Pep system. Nothing wrong with that I suppose but then again I’ve never really been a fan of Pep’s football.

    This seems optimistic. More likely keep on loaning out until contract ends. Same with Trez.

    I like Cash but £35m-£40m around there I would sell. My guess though is they are wanting a cheap deal which in this case isn’t worth the conversation. £20m isn’t and shouldn’t be enough.

    Gerrard not rating him doesn’t mean we loan him out to help the cause of Newcastle. United have held on to Lingard. Arsenal have held on to Auba…It’s not a transfer fee it’s a loan.

    Nothing on Newcastle website to suggest they have an obligation to buy either. Just that he is on loan until the end of the season. Poor deal this.

    Didn’t he leave Southampton because he had competition there? Probably the same case here now. Still feel uneasy about it being a loan.. option to buy must be compulsory otherwise makes no sense.

    £20m in this market is insulting. Minimum £30m - the English tax too.

    Looking at transfermarkt we are pretty much at break even in terms of players fees out/in since the start of the season. Grealish fee gave us a big chunk of that. Even if the figures aren’t completely reliable they are close enough. Obviously spending more on wages though with Coutinho here. Maybe we might be close to hitting FFP limits.. I don’t know.

    The club know it’s a position that needs strengthening. Maybe it’s just budget constraints as we aren’t willing to meet asking prices for these players.
