  1. Given where we are. I think we're lucky he wants us. Welcome to the Villa Steve.
  2. Had mates saying the same about a manager we appointed in 1974. That man was Ron Saunders, regarded then as a pretty dour character and not a very inspiring choice. You just never know
  3. Sadly, I think he's still above it.Division 1 is probably nearer that.
  4. I don't care who the new manager is, just as long as he gets this club moving in the right direction. A lot of the flak Mcleish got, was because he was Blues current manager. Bruce has managed a number of clubs, the Noses being one from the pretty distant past. Does anyone think less of the great Ron Saunders because he crossed the great divide, I would hope not. If therefore we judge Bruce purely on his record as a manager, then he is by far the best candidate to get us back up. If it is him,I wish him luck.
  5. If you consider being swept along by events and having absolutely no detailed answers about anything, particularly Brexit...then fair enough.
  6. May claiming to be the Party of the working class. Did anyone see that pig fly behind her.
  7. Woy got the sack from Liverpool and England, there's a reason for that too.
  8. Simply not a very good player. If we really want to get out of this division, we won't do it with this player on the pitch. Don't hate him, just don't rate him. There are others I would like to see the back of, Bacuna, Hutton etc. We all know who they are. But this guy plays in a pivotal position, central midfield. His lack of vision, powder puff tackling. reluctance to close down players sufficiently when they are advancing on our goal, he's not alone in that by the way,and general lack of impact on the game will cost us. Januaryneeds to see some business by Villa to strengthen midfield, if only to move this guy further down the pecking order.
  9. Not everything Jack does comes off, he can be infuriating sometimes. But, he is still developing as a player and looks for his team mates when the chance arrives. Ayew has skill, but, is selfish. Passing to a team mate seems a last resort for him. For now, I'd go with Jack.
  10. His biggest failing is his sheer selfishness. Only passes the ball when he absolutely has to, and sometimes not even then. Must be infuriating to play with this guy.Seems to have tunnel vision. Adomah will most likely take his place. Maybe being benched will give him the kick up the arse he needs.
  11. Westwood FFS. We're playing with 10 men
  12. Yeah he's as boring off the pitch as he is on it
  13. Utterly shit tonight. This guy brings absolutely nothing to the team. The invisible man.
  14. Hopefully he will be dropped today. Both Jedinak and Tshibola are better than him or Gardner.
  15. Useless player. As static as a traffic cone for Forests second goal. Brings nothing to the team. Mediocrity personified, please Roberto, drop this waste of space now.
  16. Invisible player. Even at this level he barely makes any impact.
  17. Still looks a bit of a donkey to me. Not enough pace, and his first touch is terrible. Hope we manage to secure a better partner for McCormack than this fellah.
  18. Personally, I thought he was pants.Stands off players too much when he should be pressuring them. Covers plenty of ground, but does so little. Good at pointing his finger, pity he doesn't pull his own out more often. Anonymous, mediocre, invisible, take your pick. He's the one in midfield I'd dump first.
  19. I actually think Richards might be an asset in the Championship, he's certainly too good for that level. As for attitude, well he was one of the few to show any real passion on the pitch. Remember when he scored at VP, you could see how much it meant by his celebration. The rest, Bacuna, Gabby, Lescott, Westwood etc. can go though
  20. Don't want to get into another debate about Ellis, his times gone. John Lerwill is entitled to his opinion. It doesn't make it fact. I was also there in 1968. Ellis was a bit part player, who being the chancer he is, saw his chance and jumped ship from the Blues board, to join a group of fans who had never been on Blues board, to save our club from the decaying state it was in. The main mover in all this was Pat Matthews. Ellis is a man who undoubtedly has a place in the history of our club. But his overwhelming motivation was his own personal advancement. Perhaps we should leave such a divisive character to history, and accept that there will always be different views on his tenure. Here's to a better future with Dr Xia.
  21. No we weren't. He took the Champions of Europe into the second division in 4 years. Quite an achievement. While Chairman, refused to have a picture on display, of the greatest team our club ever had. Villa fan my arse. He was and is a Doug Ellis fan. Why are we even talking about the self obsessed clearing in the woods.
  22. Heard somewhere he's on £100,000 per week. So not likely.
