  1. That's it, not an exciting player, but a very good midfielder who would improve the "team". We can't have a team of 11 flair players, look at that Liverpool middle 3, on paper it looks fairly ordinary but works very well to let the flair players win the games. They also score very few goals from midfield.
  2. Seems like this was in the works a while, Dean mentioned they'd be shaking up the coaching team in his interview on the os last week.
  3. Tammy is a good player, but Ings is just a much better footballer and finisher who can score all types of goals, most importantly he can also create goals for himself. Tammy has played in a much better team the last 2 seasons too, I can understand some trepidation about where does ings fit in, but I believe he has that little bit of extra intelligence to play across the front line in a fluid front 3. The best signing we've made this summer.
  4. If he really knew anything, he'd say a name. These guys really are a disgrace, barely better than football insider.
  5. Looked decent today, but he's nowhere near starting for us at the moment, he needs to mature a lot to even displace Jacob Ramsay. 18 or not, he's not ready just yet. A lot of hype around him but I think Aaron Ramsay might be the dark horse to make it.
  6. He was fairly rubbish but in his short time on the pitch he also strangely looked the most exciting to watch and could/should have scored at least 1. The fella will frustrate but he's arguably more naturally gifted a footballer than anyone in the squad. A great wildcard to have as an option from the bench. Coincidently I was torturing myself watching a grealish highlight video from last season and Bertie was involved so much in that video. Decent numbers last season, and I get it, he's a frustrating player who will drive us mad, but what a baller, give me him over a sideways pass merchant any day.
  7. He needs to be tied to a new contract in the next few weeks or else sell him. I rate him, has a lot of potential and sometimes it's easy to look at the shiny new players but this is a 23yo regular Brazil international who if he was linked to us from another team we'd be going mental over. Inconsistent last season, but the talent and potential is there, it's easy to say Grealish was what kept us up in 19/20 but Dougie was out best player post lockdown. We can't have him ending this season with 1yr left on his contract as even with another inconsistent season he's a 25m player all day long with the potential to be a 50m player.
  8. He's never been a "real" villa fan, he's typical of the fifa playing generation. A brilliant player and probably the most talented I've ever watched at Villa, I believe he'll go on and show he's one of the best in the world, he's got a winners mentality, the 1-0 against blues really cemented that for me. Really disappointed he didn't show more ambition by staying and leading his supposed club to the top, but can understand his reasons for moving. He's done now though and Villa are going to challenge at the top again, I have no doubt about that. Up the Villa
  9. Anguissa is an interesting player too with similar qualities. I think he could be very good in a better side.
  10. Never watched him play before, he looks to have terrific technique but a quick look at his YouTube highlight video shows an alarming lack of end product, continuously losing the ball after beating his man. Kamada has looked the most impressive of all the names put out there, interesting to see where he goes.
  11. Fantastic signing and he's still quick, He's burning El Ghazi for pace in a Sprint in the dean Smith video today on the os. Having lost two big characters in Jack and JT, Ash and Ings will go a long way to replacing that dressing room prescense.
  12. All of our summer signings have been impressive and have the quality to impact the team from the get go, but this is the most impressive of the lot. Ings is good enough to play for a top 4 team, he's as good a finisher as Harry Kane, never relied on pace either and just a very good and clever footballer. Brilliant Signing
  13. We need to start strong, it's been mentioned on a few threads now but the pressing ability in our team is the best it's ever been. Ollie, Ings, Buendia, McGinn, Sanson all in the top percentiles for pressing. 1 top class midfield player from a genuine top 6 push this season for me. 60+ points would be a successful season to build on again.
  14. A genuinely good man, has met every expectation so far and continues to improve as a manager. Proper Villa
  15. 2 more signings hopefully and we're set for this season. We need the forward players to gel and hit the ground running. A high potential centre half to develop like Konsa would be perfect, maybe Tuanzabe would fit the bill. A top midfielder would be great too and spend big here for quality. El Ghazi and Traore will provide competition from the bench this season, I'd imagine.
  16. I missed the broadcast was it on Craig Butlers show?
  17. I'd like to see a midfield 3 of Sanson/McGinn/Nakamba or Luiz a solid working 3 similar to Liverpool with a fluid 3 up front
  18. A real John Gregory signing. Top player who instantly improves us. 2 more of these please.
  19. Sky saying he's still training at Villa this morning, you really are a total bluffer or you're Sam Lee!
  20. Still training with Villa today? I read somewhere that Sky mentioned he was still with Villa in West London this morning.
  21. Look at the news around villa yesterday, our star player and talisman is about to leave for 100m and every other fan of other clubs are talking about Villa as a progressive ambitious club. The timing of the Bailey and Ings deals were perfect, the tone on this board has changed hugely too. Villa will move forward again this season. From a PR perspective, we look like a club going places.
  22. If he leaves on a free and we're challenging in Europe, he'll have done his job. He's a player who can impact right away, we've got fantastic youth players to hopefully take his place.
  23. Reminds me a little bit of when Utd bought Van Persie and he was crucial that season. I can see the same with Ings, even if we only get 2 good seasons out of him, his influence, ability and know-how should hopefully see us in a position that we can upgrade again on him.
  24. Time for a switcheroo and send Matty Cash to City, we might need a new right back though.
