    Agree, needs to be proven quality in the 30-40m bracket, 2 of them and from major leagues where the risk of failure is lessened.

    If he does go for 100m, the upside is that there's more opportunity for the club to move forward quicker than if he stays, however he's a genuinely world class player and he's ours, we won't be able to sign a player of that quality in the immediate future, but we can build a better more balanced team.

    I'd be very surprised if we are spending 30-40m on a player to be backup/competition to Ollie. We're not at that level just yet. I think we will buy or loan a forward, maybe even try to loan Tammy again. But spending those type of sums on a player who won't instantly improve our starting 11 doesn't make sense to me. 40m on a starting mf who is better than what we've got instantly makes us a better team.

    If we are in for Tammy, then that to me sounds like they're planning on Jack staying. If Jack is to leave, we'll buy a new MF/AM im sure.

    Not sure on Tammy, a good player, but would prefer sign a player that instantly improves our first 11 like Bailey and Buendia will. If we sign Tammy and still have funds to put 40m on a starting midfielder then great.

    I watched a few mins of it earlier, he mentioned grealish and talked about how Jack, Bailey, Watkins buendia would be a fantastic forward line. I don't think he genuinely has any info on grealish. I also have no doubt they see this as a possible stepping stone, however he did say villa are a team on the up and even if grealish went they'd spend another 100m on talent anyway so he expect Bailey to playing with loads of quality either way.

    Controversial, but I don't see much difference in quality between him and Emile Smith Rowe. I was never sold on ESR, never been particularly sold on Cantwell either though.

    If he's good enough in training he should be getting minutes, same goes for all the young players. Looks the most likely right now, with Traore not ready and trez out he has a chance.

    Was like watching him in his prime taking the ball down that left channel, very impressive today. Looks a great pickup on a free, even if it's mostly providing cover.

    The level of signing I think we all expected this season in the 30-40m range with Buendia and Bailey, next season will be about moving another level again if we can progress.

    The fact that we've just announced officially that we've reached an agreement for a price with Leverkusen for Bailey says to me a deal for Jack still hasn't been reached or accepted.

    Twitter is a cesspool, but the backlash to Sam Lee was interesting to see, Percy blocking comments now too and others following suit. The media on a whole has moved from reporting news to creating news, even more so in recent times. Some people power may make them think twice about the obvious click bait content they're creating. The word "journalist" next to most of their names is a disgrace to the profession.

    I think a lot of that is down to the fact that Dean was in isolation, he's not now, so no doubt he'll be asked.

    Will be interesting to see what Dean has to say on it tomorrow when asked. Also interesting to see what NSWE do, decide Jack stays or gamble with another 140m to spend on 3 players. I think Jack probably would go, if it was opened up for him to move, however I believe club will make a big pitch to stay.

    Has anything really changed over the last few day? This place is in a total frenzy! No fee agreed, no word from either side all just speculation. I think he'll stay fwiw

    To be fair it's in a position we're well stocked in, but need competition/cover. For anything under 8m it would be a good move and he'd provide competition and has good potential. We need to the spend big improving the team further up the pitch

    None of those players would get into our starting 11 right now, may turn out to be great for palace but we're buying at a level or 2 above that. I'd expect we're going after top proven players and those signings take time, particularly with a lot of top players still on holiday til next week.
