  1. His problem is that his only tempo is high and he tries to force the play all the time, he a total instinct player. He's a decent player, but our expectations are rising and unfortunately I don't see him getting to the level we expect which is a top 6 team. As soon as Traore and Bailey came on, the game changed in our favour and that's because they are a better quality player than anyone Watford had on the pitch. We need to improve every position ruthlessly.
  2. Very good today, even from the left. Will offer us a lot from either wing.
  3. Really poor performance so far, no sense of any identity to this team, but a long way to go. We need to try and get into the game and try and salvage a draw and build. Poor pre-season showing here.
  4. Same problems in midfield, a lot to do second half.
  5. El Ghazi off and move Buendia wide right, bring Ramsay on midfield is being played through.
  6. Spurs and West Ham, I think I read. But you're right it's that constant haggling that has held spurs back from pushing on to the next level. It looks like we're prepared to overpay a little if it means we get out primary targets. Ollie, Buendia and Ings all appeared a little expensive at first but I'm sure the latter two will prove great value just as Ollie has.
  7. Brilliant Signing who has been crucial to our progress over the last 3 seasons. Ready made captain.
  8. That arsenal side looks as poor as there's even been in the pl era. They don't look capable of a top 6 finish and there seems to be a lot of unrest behind the scenes. Arteta also seems very unlikeable.
  9. From an ambition perspective, it doesn't look like his club want to compete at the top and just want to get by. JWP strikes me as a player that wants more than that and will look to move this window if he can.
  10. I'd read that a couple of clubs had been haggling all summer in the 12-15m range and we came in with 25m and just got the deal done. Our most important signing argubaly as he's PL proven and is good enough to play for a top 6 side already. Outside bet for top pl scorer this season.
  11. There will be outgoings on loan, Dean confirmed. Id imagine the following are available on loan: Davis, Wesley, Hourihane and Guilbert (I think Axel will be used as cover here and Smith doesn't seem to rate him) Bidace, Ramsay and Carney I'd expect to be kept around the bench.
  12. Can't see him leaving this window unless we get an offer that's too good to turn down. He's arguably our first choice LW even though I don't expect him to start. Bailey, Buendia, Traore all better on the right.
  13. Sounded like a standard Dean answer, we'll try for one more big name, he quickly followed with the outgoings on loan and was coy when asked about JWP. Even if we don't sign anyone, we look stronger than last season across the board and if the existing players continue to improve as we've seen before, there's no reason we can't challenge for Europe. Dean and his coaching team have shown they can improve players and that in itself is very exciting.
  14. Jack is an unbelievable player, but everything was setup to go through him. I believe we have a better "team" now and another addition in the middle will strengthen that further. JWP would be a perfect signing, it would allow us even more flexibility to play Buendia and Bailey wide, Tuanzabe gives us the flexibility to play 5 at the back and Ollie and Ings up front too.
  15. That's it, not an exciting player, but a very good midfielder who would improve the "team". We can't have a team of 11 flair players, look at that Liverpool middle 3, on paper it looks fairly ordinary but works very well to let the flair players win the games. They also score very few goals from midfield.
  16. Seems like this was in the works a while, Dean mentioned they'd be shaking up the coaching team in his interview on the os last week.
  17. Tammy is a good player, but Ings is just a much better footballer and finisher who can score all types of goals, most importantly he can also create goals for himself. Tammy has played in a much better team the last 2 seasons too, I can understand some trepidation about where does ings fit in, but I believe he has that little bit of extra intelligence to play across the front line in a fluid front 3. The best signing we've made this summer.
  18. If he really knew anything, he'd say a name. These guys really are a disgrace, barely better than football insider.
  19. Looked decent today, but he's nowhere near starting for us at the moment, he needs to mature a lot to even displace Jacob Ramsay. 18 or not, he's not ready just yet. A lot of hype around him but I think Aaron Ramsay might be the dark horse to make it.
  20. He was fairly rubbish but in his short time on the pitch he also strangely looked the most exciting to watch and could/should have scored at least 1. The fella will frustrate but he's arguably more naturally gifted a footballer than anyone in the squad. A great wildcard to have as an option from the bench. Coincidently I was torturing myself watching a grealish highlight video from last season and Bertie was involved so much in that video. Decent numbers last season, and I get it, he's a frustrating player who will drive us mad, but what a baller, give me him over a sideways pass merchant any day.
  21. He needs to be tied to a new contract in the next few weeks or else sell him. I rate him, has a lot of potential and sometimes it's easy to look at the shiny new players but this is a 23yo regular Brazil international who if he was linked to us from another team we'd be going mental over. Inconsistent last season, but the talent and potential is there, it's easy to say Grealish was what kept us up in 19/20 but Dougie was out best player post lockdown. We can't have him ending this season with 1yr left on his contract as even with another inconsistent season he's a 25m player all day long with the potential to be a 50m player.
  22. He's never been a "real" villa fan, he's typical of the fifa playing generation. A brilliant player and probably the most talented I've ever watched at Villa, I believe he'll go on and show he's one of the best in the world, he's got a winners mentality, the 1-0 against blues really cemented that for me. Really disappointed he didn't show more ambition by staying and leading his supposed club to the top, but can understand his reasons for moving. He's done now though and Villa are going to challenge at the top again, I have no doubt about that. Up the Villa
