  1. 4th gets Champions League guaranteed, let's just do that.
  2. Dr Bailey diagnosing Watkins injury as a bad wound, hopefully not too bad an injury for Ollie.
  3. I don't know why you do it to yourself! You're a real glass half empty villa fan. The euro games went as well as could have been expected and PL is well in the driving seat for the extra CL place.
  4. We were always going to lose games and spoiler alert, we will most likely lose at least a couple more. Beat the teams that we should beat and 4th is ours, 5th most likely will be enough for champions league and I believe we'll do at least that. Still a long way to go, but we're on track for qualifying for the CL and winning the ECL.
  5. Leicester were regularly finishing in Europe with him as their best player, he's not even in our top 5 best players. We've come a long way in the last few seasons and built a real squad of underrated quality players. Good player.
  6. Spurs have to play Newcastle, City, Arsenal, Liverpool and potentially Chelsea all in a row in April/May. I still think we could be ahead of them going into that run. We have some big players to come back into the side.
  7. Why do you bother? You have an awful defeatist attitude and if the fans in the stadium acted like you we won't get anywhere. We will lose games thats part of football, but we will win too. We're 5th - 5 points clear of Utd and they are not a better side than us. UTV
  8. Some fans have a loser mentality, we're 1 point off 4th and still in Europe in February. Lots still to play for and some big players to come back into the team.
  9. No reason we can't win this, our bench is very strong and capable of turning the game positively for us is we can be competitive until the 60th min or so.

The man has worked wonders since he's here, as mentioned a few posts above, progress is not always linear. 5th and a conference league win would be amazing, anything more would be incredible, in this climate, the toughest and most competitive league ever, and FFP constraints he is over performing. He can of course be questioned as anyone should, but based on his performance to this point he should not be doubted. He's changing the whole culture at the club, demanding more from everyone and there will be dips but as shown so far he can deliver results. Injuries and suspensions are part of the game we just need to navigate those times by putting points on the board and we have so far.
  11. Very error prone in Spain before we signed him, so no real surprise he can be a liability at times. Never convinced me he's anything other than 4th choice when all our starters are fit based on ability. Overall he's only really had this season to get going and acclimatise to the league but age is against him and he doesn't seem like a composed clever footballer that can get by without his physicality.

We've had a lot of shuffling to the side over the last run of games due to injury and suspension, Digne, Tielemans, Pau Torres, Kamara all missing and key cogs in our best performing teams this season. Pau Torres is proving critical to how we play and his stepping into midfield is a loss at the moment. Diaby really needs to find some form too, they're big signings and big players for us. I don't believe we need to change from what's worked so well for us until now, we just need to get our best players back on the pitch together and give Diaby and Ramsay the opportunity to find their feet again from the bench.
  13. His best form came from a lot of his link up play with Ramsay last season, he's a very good footballer going forward, but probably needed a little more easing back into the team.

It's been mentioned for a while now but he's a real weak link and lacks the intelligence in his decision making to step up, he has good qualities and his athleticism is one of them but Moreno and Digne are miles ahead of him in footballing ability and contributing to our attacking play.
  15. We're in a strong position, our form recent form has not been great since the city game, but we've picked up points whilst being in a bit of a slump performance wise. A dip in form was always on the cards, and every side has them. Get Pau Torres and Bailey back in the side and win our next 2 league games and we're right back on track. 5th and conference league win would be a fantastic achievement and I believe we will do at least that.
  16. Moreno has been our best player, Tielemans for Diaby at some point is needed. We're a much better side that these, just need to up the intensity and win the duels in the second half.
  17. Has a bit of that Balotelli fire in him, he's very raw and immature on the pitch, so would not surprise me if he's the same off it. I'm not convinced he has the technical ability with the ball at his feet to make it at the top level, but he's hard to work out, his goal against palace was brilliant and he has some strong qualities. Wouldn't be overly disappointed to see him go.
  18. As has been mentioned, disappointing couple of games, but in perspective we are in a really strong position and the utd performance overall was poor, but their goals were result of individual errors and some luck, the high line is an easy stick to beat us with when we lose. I expect us to beat Burnley well and finish the year in at least third place, our style of play is the best we have potentially ever seen in the premier league and above all it feels sustainable. The MON years relied on individuals and counter attacking, we regularly control games and we have had a little luck in some games, but overall we've earned that through our style of play and bravery to play on the front foot. The utd loss was a particularly bitter way to lose, but I'm confident we'll be at least 10 points ahead of them by the time they come to VP in February.
  19. Naive, and cost us a little for the goal. Very raw but something there with him.

Stands out like a sore thumb, great attitude, great servant so far, but we've moved quickly and he hasn't been able to keep up, no shame in that, but expectations have gone up hugely and he's not at those levels. Has plenty of good qualities, but better served from the bench as a squad player.
  21. Agreed, playing very well right now and looks to have stepped up to show his best form in his villa career so far. Needs to continue this form, but more than deserves his place in the team right now.
  22. Superb footballer, especially in a possession based system where he's expected to get on the ball. Hugely impressed with him this season and a very different type of player to Moreno, who is also a very good footballer. Great options.
  23. To be fair, even last season where his form was middling at best, he was involved in a lot of goals. I remember watching a review of all our goals last season, and Bailly had many assists to the assister. He's always had the contribution ability, he was just lacking some consistency and just getting the basics right.
  24. He's not really suited to this team and I'm sure we would have sold him if we had suitable offers, I also have no idea why we bought him, it seemed a strange signing at the time. He played very well at home to Newcastle last season and also in the UTD home win too, just two off the top of my head where he contributed and passed the ball well too. He can contribute as part of an already well drilled team, but missing Mings, Moreno, Ramsay and Buendia is meaning it's taking us some time to get back up to speed as a unit.
