  1. Bridge's loan went abysmally. When he only got one league game (plus 92nd minute sub appearance) for French 3rd Division side then never even made the squad again before returning to Villa in January, you kinda figured it was coming.
  2. Aside from the typical woes of adapting to a new country/league/slipshod side, the main issue was he's naturally a false 9, while everyone expected him to be a Benteke as we played him like a Heskey. Either he wasn't scouted properly by Suso and co, or Deano and ROK saw him and said, there's a big lad, just pump it up to him (or maybe both). With that classic Villa irony, he'd probably have been a much better fit for how we're trying to play now than Ollie, and Ollie much better for the promoted side.
  3. He looked like a player managing an injury in the Ukraine game. Just walking the majority of the game, then clutched his right hamstring a couple times after higher intensity actions.
  4. Scotland looks awful in general. He's barely moving, though, which is a bit concerning.
  5. They might be trying to keep him away from the US. There's been a lot of talk of him switching.
  6. This explains the sizing problems everyone had with Kappa.
  7. Hopefully it'll help him build some match fitness. CONCACAF is a dangerous place, though.
  8. "Villa fans advise on MASSIVE Napoli transfer."
  9. We unironically need someone good at cheating. Ollie is absolutely useless at winning penalties even when he's legitimately being fouled. Need someone who can manufacture the calls, like United, Spurs, City, Liverpool all have.
  10. Not the classic blood and guts type of defender that some people will want, but leagues better than our other CBs on the ball. Hell, better than most of our midfielders on the ball.
  11. It'd surely be better to keep Fred and get KKH out for a full season in the Championship. Few French teams have any money and I'd rather have him pushing Cash for a season than sell him for pennies (and it might keep Young from coming on at right back in case of injury/fatigue).
  12. Letting Ings go to another midtable side who mostly just need someone to finish their chances is probably inadvisable.
  13. On ~£300,000/wk at 31 and took a major pay cut to get down to that.
  14. If West Ham are willing to drop 45M+ on him, sell him. He'll probably score some goals there because he's a good fit for Moyesball, but if we have aspirations of being more of a progressive, technical footballing side, he's never really going to work.
  15. Never met William McGregor, either.
  16. Sanson was one of the best pressing and ball carrying central midfielders in Europe while playing with Kamara. If, as it's looking, Dougie is out the door, Marv should be, who knows with Carney (and he's a kid), and talk of big money offers for McGinn, it might be wise to have a midfield pairing that know each other well.
  17. I can't agree there. You can't afford to remove players that can keep the ball (if only for a few seconds at a time) and give the CBs something to worry about. City thrive on squeezing up and overloading, bringing on Marv just allowed them to fully set up camp in our half. Pulling Emi then wrecked our press and removed our ability to even try to get the ball out. Young would've been a good sub in the last minute had we been leading, but absolutely pointless otherwise. Would rather run a kid out if the manager thinks it's over.
  18. Can't take off your ball retainers in this kind of game.
  19. oh hey let's just invite extra pressure, that'll help
  20. I cannot recall ever seeing a foul throw called in top level football, and I probably see at least one perpetrated per match. Someone scored right after one this season, Leeds maybe?
  21. Unless we get a truly worthwhile offer for him, I'd get Guilbert back in and let them battle it out. He's smashed it in France two loans in a row, while KKH really needs to have a year in the C'ship. L2 -> L1 -> Prem is too big a jump for a teenage defender, imo, and nobody wants to see Young or Chambers there if Cash is injured/suspended, nor are they really much competition for him.
  22. The right striker absolutely makes Coutinho + Buendia work. Also suits Ings' game more, while Ollie is better suited to a side playing more on the counter with wingers, imo. Question is, who and how much?
