  1. Get him out before he decimates the squad completely.
  2. If they make it to the first team, we can call them the Funky Bunch.
  3. I agree, just having someone who could really compete physically with defenders and hold the ball up would work wonders for our little guys buzzing around. As it is, we have all the possession laterally, but when the ball goes forward, it's an angled long ball to a sub-6'-er against two or three defenders or out wide for a cross to the same.
  4. Will be if Strategy Stevie doesn't register him in the final squad.
  5. Sack him. Subbing JJ for Dougie instead of McGinn and starting Coutinho lost that game.
  6. Without a midfielder that moves, the ball has nowhere to go and the fullbacks become not just the main outlet, but the only outlet. Block them off and we're back to long balls and crosses against 3 CBs. Gotta get somebody on disrupt their shape.
  7. I'm almost beginning to believe he's an FSG agent.
  8. Bring back, bring back, bring back my Bertie to meeee...
  9. Don't you remember his mini-preseason in the winter break, where he crowed about how helpful it was going to be in getting his style of play across, then we came back and played worse? Well, now he's had a full, not-mini preseason and we are fully, not-mini worse!
  10. Prior to Everton, he's really only played in teams that were competing at the top of their leagues and mostly playing high possession football. If you're PSG or Barca or France, it's better to have a fullback with the skillset to help break down stubborn defenses than the traditional defence first skillset. Unfortunately, we don't have the rest of the side in place (high pressing forwards, ball winners/recoverers in the opposition half, capable passers under pressure, etc) to make use of players like that, so it results in him having to defend much more, and, importantly, defend on the backfoot much more frequently than the game he's been developed for. Heck, we don't even have a striker with any aerial threat to make use of the one thing he was really known for at Everton, his crossing. He consistently crosses to the back post and Ollie is just standing between two defenders somewhere counting the grass.
  11. Nonsense. The fullbacks are far too defensive there.
  12. Fairly accurate. Similar to Adama Traore, he'll turn up every few matches, look fantastic and get all the attention, but run repeatedly into dead ends or just plain do nothing the rest of the time. He had a decent season for an out-and-out winger his first time in the PL (5 goals and about as many assists iirc), but he's also started picking up hamstring injuries somewhat regularly over the past couple years, which is a very bad sign for a player whose primary asset is pace.
  13. Needs to be taken out of the firing line. Head does not look in the game from minute one, whether it's crowds or Deano leaving or accumulation of injury/returning from them too quickly, he appears to be extremely hesitant to leave his feet and challenge (and uncomfortable when he does) for some reason and teams are targeting that. We saw once or twice what he's traditionally be best at, getting between the player and the goal then shepherding them away from danger, but they're all just playing the ball over him or in the space left by a too-cavalier (by tactical design) Cash and he can't seem to get a step anymore, might as well not be there. Put Chambers in and let Ezri work on himself for a while.
  14. Clearly being forced out. Will backfire terribly when we end up either overpaying for some honest grafter from the C'ship on deadline day to fill the gap or with no one at all.
  15. Oh boy, get ready for more long balls.
  16. I wouldn't even have anyone from the first team on the bench vs Bolton, a lighting rig would probably fall on them at this rate. Or just straight up lightning from the heavens. Denayer and Zagadou are both probably as good as we could hope for in terms of CBs with skill on the ball, and are young enough to have some sell-on value in a few years, potentially a lot in the case of Zagadou if he stays reasonably fit and progresses. He would add great aerial presence, too, and take some pressure off Mings there, but always manages to pick up some injuries of his own. We do have cover, so might be worth it to see if we can get him going. Denayer, otoh, has a lot more experience and familiarity with the English game, but would probably want significantly more cash. Then again, more cash compared to Ligue 1 might not be an issue to a Prem club at all.
  17. Happened coming down from contesting a header with Rondon at 91:42. Lands on both feet, doesn't look particularly heavy from the TV angle but he drops immediately.
  18. Lil' Emi MOTM. Overall, squad looked much more motivated and energetic, working to get to balls first and tackling well, which was good to see. Much improved performance from JJ in particular. Still fairly aimless tactically with limited movement, though, and lost what organization we had when put under real pressure in the second half, which was exacerbated by subs being left too late. Reinforce the midfield and fullbacks with 20 to go or even when Emi scores and we see that out more comfortably. Having only Doug for the midfield on the bench (and not even using him) is a worry. Also, Ollie needs to gamble more on back post runs when Digne is on the ball, you can tell he's used to crossing deeper to the likes of Calvert-Lewin, while we seem to have nobody in the area every time.
