  7. Just wanted to post about an experience I had of meeting Brad and how nice of a guy he was at the time. It happened in June of 1996 after the US played Ireland in the U.S. Cup. For the game itself, that was great with us winning 2-1, Anyway, this was my first USMNT game as my dad had won tickets from his job and took me and my brother. I was very excited at this time,(10 years old), to attend my first national team game. When the game was over, their was an autograph session with the players and even though the lines were quite long, no way were my brother and I going to leave without getting some stuff signed. After Lalas and Cobi Jones signed, we came to Brad. Now to put this into even more context of how important and momentous this was for me, Friedel was my favorite player as I myself was a GK on my youth team and so therefore tried to emulate everything about how he played the game. I think Friedel could sense my nervousness lol as I stood speechless in front of the table after he asked me my name and did I enjoy the game. After a few more seconds of silence,he told me to stand off to the side for a few minutes and he would come talk to me. I nodded mutely and me and my brother did so. Eventually he did come over to talk to us, and after a few more minutes of star struckness from me, I began to open up to him and he even ended up giving me some pointers to help with my own game, let my dad take a picture of me and him, and lastly had a team assistant go and grab his backup jersey for me to take home with me. To say that I was overjoyed would be an understatement; one of the best days of my adolescence no doubt. Just thought I would tell this as just all seems to be even sweeter that down the road he became the Villa GK and now I am a Villa fan also. Anyone else have a story to tell about meeting their hero?
  8. Budweiser may be 'The King of Beers' but is absolutely awful. Here in NC, all everybody seems to drink. Either that, Coors, or Miller
  9. Very simple for me: Mid-table would be fantastic. Anything better is just gravy. Bright future ahead regardless which one it is.

  16. Dave was bragging to his boss one day, "You know, I know everyone there is to know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them." Tired of his boasting, his boss called his bluff, "OK, Dave, how about Tom Cruise?" "No dramas boss, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it." So Dave and his boss fly out to Hollywood and knock on Tom Cruise's door, and Tom Cruise shouts, "Dave! What's happening? Great to see you! Come on in for a beer!" Although impressed, Dave's boss is still skeptical. After they leave Cruise's house, he tells Dave that he thinks him knowing Cruise was just lucky. "No, no, just name anyone else," Dave says. "Former President Obama," his boss quickly retorts. "Yup," Dave says, "Old buddies, let's fly out to Washington," and off they go. They arrive at Obama's House and as they go to knock on the door Obama is just leaving, "Dave, what a surprise, I was just on my way to a meeting, but you and your friend come on in and let's have a beer first and catch up." Well, the boss is very shaken by now but still not totally convinced. After they leave he expresses his doubts to Dave, who again implores him to name anyone else. "The Pope," his boss replies. "Sure!" says Dave. "I've known the Pope for years." So off they fly to Rome. Dave and his boss are assembled with the masses at the Vatican's St. Peter's Square when Dave says, "This will never work. I can't catch the Pope's eye among all these people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I'll come out on the balcony with the Pope." He disappears into the crowd headed towards the Vatican. Sure enough, half an hour later Dave emerges with the Pope on the balcony, but by the time Dave returns, he finds that his boss has had a heart attack and is surrounded by paramedics. Making his way to his boss' side, Dave asks him, "What happened?" His boss looks up and says, "It was the final straw... you and the Pope came out on to the balcony and the man next to me said, 'Who the **** is that on the balcony with Dave?'
