  1. There's definitely elements of hypocrisy floating around. And whilst the villa part of me would love us to get Coutinho off our books without making a loss, the side of me that hates the sportswashing take over by Saudi Arabia would rather they didn't legitimise their league any further. Who knows, maybe they'll use the increased exposure as a catalyst to improve their human and women's rights. I won't be holding my breath though.
  2. I didn't complain about them signing a Wolves player for near enough market value. Not sure I saw many do that to be honest.
  3. Yawn.... The difference would be we're not owned by the same people that own the club that's buying Coutinho. Obviously, I'd rather they didn't have a coutinho to help their sportswashing, but that isn't what you're complaining about so that's moot.
  4. Interesting. Tried to convert that to rgb to test something in my phone and it looks nothing like that colour. Looks purple... R: 109 G: 19 B: 61 According to a converter? Appreciate the lighting of the location, the quality of the camera, the quality of the picture upload is going to affect it, but it's not even close to claret
  5. Interesting. I'm convinced he would have picked him if he had evidence that he was fit. I'm also convinced he'll be back in the next squad. I think he would have been irrespective of being at Chelsea or United, although i do find the joke that he'll now get picked again quite amusing.
  6. 4 is purple on my phone... but 2 and 6 I agree with.
  7. So you think Southgate wouldn't have picked him if he'd played the last game for Chelsea?
  8. True, it's just a vision. Not sure I even like it, but giving a feel for what the current full lion looks like facing the way people are used to. The star can stay or go ... I think it's the best lion we've had personally.
  9. That just seems so unlikely. They have a 30k strong waiting list. The stadium capacity increase has zero negative impact to our FFP spending, and long term improves the ability for us to spend more. That said, I suspect some change hold ups are to do with the fact transport improvements look like they wont be happening. And if we were to get Euro 28, then transport improvement costs could come from central government and maybe make them more likely so who knows.
  10. New lion, unleashed Facing the right way. Angled forward so he doesn't look like he's falling backwards trying to swat away the star. Less purple, more claret.
  11. The irony of avfc faithful calling out another account for posting rubbish...

To be fair I'm not sure if it's just based on the winners/finalists. In fact, I'm probably sure it isn't. And it probably isn't just based on one season. But if you look historically, England have been well represented in the latter stages of the champions league for a long time. Its a self fulfilling prophecy when we get 4 spots, and our league makes the most money out of all of Europe. Then when we start getting an extra spot it will just make it that much easier for us to be more successful. I agree, it's a bit of a joke that the "champions" league could be contested by a team that finished 5th. But the alternative is having the champions of the Welsh league, or any of the other countries below, who have never qualified, getting automatic spots... Albania, Andorra, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Estonia, Faroe Islands, FYR Macedonia, Georgia, Gibraltar, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, San Marino, Wales

With man city "winning" the CL, and West Ham winning the conference, the PL is very likely to get one of the extra spots for whoever finishes 5th. If it turns out to be one of the existing big 4 then chances are they'll get it anyway and then another league gets an extra spot. Italy and Spain fighting it out for the other league success spot with Fiorentina, Roma and Inter being losing finalists, and Sevilla winning the Europa League.
  14. The North stand did at least have price going for it before they went crazy last year and decided to charge premium rate for terrible experience.
  15. Yup. Its nice enough, but it screams City group
  16. Of course. I hate this game at times. A lot of the time actually these days. At least Emery is giving me the occasional moments I can love.
  17. Possibly agent looking for a new contract? To be fair, if he's one of the best goalkeepers in the world, he's worth over 100m to us, he should be being paid accordingly. We gave him the new contract before the world cup didn't we?

They're not even release clauses. They're a figure the player has to pay the club to buy out his contract and then leave on a free. The buying club give the player the cash effectively. Same end result though. They don't want to pay that immediately in this years FFP window. By agreeing a deal with the club, they can pay it over however many years they want to agree on.
  19. You raise an interesting point about Jack... any other club trained players out there that we could look to bring back that would actually be good enough for us? Can't think of any, but then my memory is shit so...
  20. True... perhaps I mean a better fit. Less of a disruptive reputation, younger, and more naturally suited to the right hand side
  21. Only as a last resort if we can't get anyone better before the window ends. I assume by that time he'll have already found another club, but he might keep his options open until the end of the window too.
  22. I agree. I don't think we have to break it to improve. It almost feels like we should to really make that statement, but if we keep getting players of the quality of Pau Torres for less than our current record I definitely won't be complaining.
  23. I assume he's sealed a deal...probably not the one we all want him to though.
