  1. So do I. Admittedly I haven't checked the stats accuracy myself but I'll take them at face value. It really doesn't mean as much as it seems to suggest and there is a lot that it doesn't take in to consideration.
  2. Statistically speaking, apparently it is. Last season we scored more and had a higher win ratio without Grealish in the team, according to stats posted earlier in the thread (I forget by who, sorry). I would hope that anyone looking at those two important facets of assessing a teams success is aware that there is a myriad of factors that make up any given performance.
  3. Don't know what people are talking about. He's picked up from where he left off last season. My only criticism would be that he's taken too many touches around the box instead of shooting. Still going passed defenders, threatening goal and passing with precision weight. Like the comments surrounding Kodjia's form I think they are unfounded and we will see Grealish on the score-sheet alongside Kodjia soon enough.
  4. We still have Elmo, Chester and Hutton from last season, we are a 37 year old short of last seasons back four. Now that's not to say that Terry won't be missed, credit to him, our shape and organisation will certainly not be better having lost him without replacement. But really, we still have one of the better defensive outfits and should not be as vulnerable as we have been this season.
  5. McGinn would of gone for 10 million had he come from League One. He had a choice between us and Celtic, and is a Scottish international. El Ghazi averaged 10 goals a season over 2 seasons with Ajax and played a full season under Lille as well, who purchased him for 8 million from Ajax. Absolutely put us above in quality.
  6. Leeds' best player is a 33 year old Hernandez. 10% of the way through and Bielsa is showing that they will be contenders. Middlesbrough lost their best player in Traore and defender Gibson. They have been less impressive so far, but look like challenging for promotion. We should be winning this league this season. By some margin. The draws are frustrating because of the dejavu that comes with them from last season. The signing of McGinn, El Ghazi and Bolasie puts us way above our opponents for quality, once we settle in, we should be better than we were last season.
  7. Get this sorted and we will be on our way to challenging automatic promotion.
  8. Someone adept at the ball sport in which they partake.
  9. You aren't even taking the time to read my posts, or research the content we are discussing. There is a phrase conventional science and it is widely used, among scientists even. If you are going to try and belittle the content of my posts, you could at least take the time to read them first. No one has said anyone was beyond science. The two mates you speak of are Doidge and Moseley. Dr. Quack's name is Dispenza. They are two different people. You made an excellent post on what an open mind is not so long ago, can't say this conversation has been in line with that. Ironically I was listening to an unrelated talk today that randomly referred to Dispenza as leading the discussion on certain scientific exploration and research that others are undertaking.
  10. Only had double digit assists in one Premier League season. So not as prolific as I thought.
  11. Same could be said for Grealish. Although Bolasie's end product often goes astray, he can certainly create the chances. What about assists? I'd be surprised if they were the same number as goals, he's always finding space for crosses, and that's more what I was alluding to.
  12. Only just seen we were linked on the BBC today. Would be impressed with signing. Potentially gives us the 10+ goals we're missing from last season with Albert losing form and Snodgrass leaving. I think concerns over his recovery since being injured are worthy of consideration. That said, I can't understand people not recognising how good some of his performances for Palace were. He didn't ride on the coattail of Zaha at all. He harassed defenders both down the flanks and through the center. If he stays fit, regardless of losing some pace, we'd be adding a dimension in attack and another player capable on the ball. Elmo Chester Tuanzebe Hutton Hourihane McGinn Adomah Grealish Bolasie Kodjia That team should light up most of the championship, a quality CB away from being better than last seasons team. Papers are saying he favours a move to Middlesbrough.
  13. Like running, time to get a routine. At about 90kg and 6ft I don't know but guessing I'd be an ecto-mesomorph. Never been a gym-rat or even a lifter, although I used a barbell daily for some months and put on some size a few years ago. And more recently had a routine where I would do bodyweight 100 calf raises, 100 squats, 100 reverse crunches, 100 (variant of different ab workouts), 100 dips, 100 pushups in two sets of 50 reps daily. Thinking of trying Aerial Alert for my vertical. Probably just some basic movements like squats, military press, deadlifts chest press with a barbell to begin with, as well as the same bodyweight exercises as before. If anyone has some exercises for the barbell they strongly recommend (bar dropping it on myself) then I'd be keen to know. I struggle with the form for bent over rows otherwise they'd be in there too.
  14. Anyone read or hear about the bait truck of Nike shoes parked in Englewood, a predominantly black, low-income neighbourhood of Chicago? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6050263/Railroad-apologizes-using-Nike-sneakers-bait-truck-black-Chicago-neighborhood-police-sting.html Kicking goals the boys in blue are. The documentary "How To Make Money Selling Drugs" has the story of a former officer who exposes the culture of planting and framing innocent people for drugs. Officers selling confiscated drugs and pocketing money from dealers that are arrested. The officer turns vigilante one day after smoking some of the cannabis he has confiscated and starting to question the ethics of what he was involved in. It's a pretty funny twist to what is a sad state of affairs.
  15. Gave my Subaru Liberty to my Dad earlier in the year as I basically live in the CBD and he gave me free rent while I did my first Diploma and part of my carpentry apprenticeship.
  16. Please forgive me if I'm just adding to your frustration with VT posting this. I'll try and be concise. I think there are well-reasoned opinions for and against Bruce being manager. I tried to make (perhaps poorly) an attempt to identify tactics that would add to our game in two threads recently, the Bruce Thread and the Ratings and Reactions Thread. You responded to my post in the Bruce thread in defense of Bruce and undermining the content of my post with some sarcasm (which you are totally entitled to do). I stand by what I posted in both threads. But the reason for this post is merely to encourage you to post your own critique and analysis in support of Bruce. You made the point that we have a good team spirit and never die attitude because of two come from behind victories earlier, a good observation to base judgement on, and that you don't understand the sense of entitlement to attractive football that a lot are demanding, like its something that's always been associated with the club. I'd be interested for you to flesh out some of that and add some quality to the discussion that can turn to meaningless jibes.
  17. I wish I knew more about all this but getting up to speed and informed is not really a priority on this one. Reading VT for updates is helpful, so thanks to all posting.

    Running

I love to listen to motivational speakers while I'm preparing for and during a workout. You'll need to find the ones that work for you. For me, the ones with an emphasis on competing with yourself, spirituality and philosophy work best. Drill sergeants alone don't do it for me. I've only come across two who work with elite athletes that are on my playlist, they are Eric Thomas and Ray Lewis. I need to start running more than I do outside of basketball. I enjoyed a good pre-season last season, was getting minutes in games and performing better than ever under this coach and team, then I copped an injury, six months long. A brief return to my team and I didn't cut the mustard (I think the Brits say) but have a place in next seasons plans provided I work on my defense. Which involves footwork, agility training and I'd like to run for 45 minutes flat so I am on point for fast-breaks over 40 minutes. As it is, I can run 4km before I cark it and need to rest. Not great for a semi-pro but that's where I'm at. Pre-season is weeks away. Any pointers on increasing my distance covered, or recommended agility training programs? I see there are a few on here (kudos) who are running the duration which I aspire to, any pointers would be appreciated!
  19. Yes. I did. Thanks for pulling me up on that. There is such a thing as conventional science, it and the scientific method go hand in hand. There is nothing flippant in my use of the term, but I do try and convey that it is not absolute. Its very quest is to ask questions, develop and explore hypotheses through rigorous testing and analysis, and I think it fair to say, come to a better understanding than we had previously. I don't see how Dispenza or Doidge (especially the latter) fail to meet the criteria here. There is potential for issue with beliefs and bias even with a scientific method in place. What I mean by peers is basically critique from anyone with a valid point, but in the main people who have done some form of research and exploration. I want to clarify there are now two separate people being discussed, Doidge and Dispenza. One is published and has over 170 articles and two books, one peer review is posted above. The other is Dispenza who I'm not entirely sure is that revolutionary. I think he takes what's been suggested for a long time and uses conventional science to try and support his claims. As for other scientists not confirming his claims, I'm not too well versed in anyone opposing his ideas, are you? But it wouldn't be the first time there's been opposition in science, it's all over the place. On Dispenza, maybe you are right. I don't know. I am not a practicing or qualified scientist. However I work at a mental health facility among psychiatrists and psychologists. I do a lot of reading and listening, and am also exposed to some research in my line of study. Then I have my own experience and insights. Dispenza's claims aren't all that far-fetched to me.
  20. I was anticipating a reply from you, limpid. I can tell you without doubt that the context in which Moseler made his comments was that of praise. Here is a link if you want to clarify: https://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/books/norman-doidges-new-book-shows-the-brains-way-of-healing-20150421-1mpmxo.html Apologies for not making that more evident, though I can't help but feel your and bicksters disposition toward the science may still remain (perhaps rightfully so) irrespective of that. I am afraid i do not agree or maybe understand why a scientific method and conventional belief are mutually exclusive. Of course there is conventional belief, even in science. This is what I meant in my seemingly daft comment about science in the religion thread. I'm not even trying to be contentious. The only point that you make that I'm nodding my head to is that he is not above critique or recognition from his peers.
  21. Yes but still a good parody of someone falling over and checking if anyone saw.
  22. Do something for hours/days it is called a mood. Weeks/months it is called a temperament. Years/decades it is called your personality. We are largely ruled by our feelings or emotions, which dictate everything from our perceptions, beliefs, prejudice, social norms and so on. So no, you're right, honestly speaking, most people are invariably different from one situation to the next as different people and scenarios elicit different responses. That said there are people (usually autonomous and headstrong) who develop principles that are promised. The Golden Circle concept is based on appealing to the limbic brain which is responsible for feelings of trust, loyalty and decision making, and not the neocortex which is responsible for rationale and language. Basically a pretentious way of saying that we tend to have regard for people who act in line with their values. It's interesting to note how few can in our current climate. Which brings me to something that pisses me off, when a politician is commended for delivering what they said they would, or being true to their word, and as a result are justified in some peoples minds as righteous, regardless of how detrimental their actions are to society.
