  1. Dean Marney is out long term and there was rumours in the past about them wanting Westwood. Would be a good move for all parties but mostly Villa. Barnes would be a good workhorse to have behind Kodjia. Westwood would benefit from a fresh start and Dyche has a good record of improving players (Stephen Ward has turned solid, Lowton doesn't get embarrassed defensively, Joey Barton is civilised there etc.)
  2. Assuming the injury he got didn't destroy him. Barrow although he has had some good days for Swansea doesn't appeal to me as it is a bad sign that in the middle of a relegation battle they are letting him go while still starting Routledge. Another striker isn't urgent for me as we will probably be playing 5 in midfield and Ayew can be moved back up front as backup to Kodjia. Gabby will do in an emergency, the midfielders can do the scoring in that scenario.
  3. I was shocked when I learned he was on propecia, absolute insanity for a professional athlete. He could have been a better player if he looked after himself better, he was on the same level as Ronaldo in their early years although completely different players.
  4. Up until this season Christian Eriksen has only been on £30k a week, examples like that is the reason Spurs are where they are and Villa are here.
  5. Having nothing to play for between now and the rest of the season should allow him to develop and assuming Hourihane and Bree are signed the team will be playing a lot better too.
  6. He has turned into Alan Hanson, whether that is good or not I'm not sure. Danny Murphy is the opposite, started off promising but quickly descended into Lawrenson.
  7. Souness doesn't go on RTE anymore, Dietmer Hamann replaced him and he is quite good too. The analysis on RTE can be a bit ridiculous and repetitive at times with Dunphy trying to outdo himself but there was a period a few years ago where it was usually more entertaining than the match itself. A good example of Souness If that was the BBC Lineker wouldn't let a discussion take place. Also on RTE they used to take the piss out of the BBC quite a bit too. Apres match being part of the coverage.
  8. Clough was a class pundit back in the, intoxicated or otherwise. Then there was this classic.
  9. Still hit the crossbar with a great header and looked threatening at times though, When Allardyce sorts out getting a couple of new defenders in and Zaha comes back they will stay up easily enough with Benteke due to go on a good run at some stage.
  10. I'm nervously excited about this. There is the doubt about why he ended up dropping down the divisions and couldn't make it at Sunderland and Ipswich but when you see the type of frame he had it explains why he was a late developer.
  11. I loved Portsmouth for a short period of time. Villa could do with him still just to make watching football enjoyable again.
  12. A simple question but does anyone here think he will score a goal this season? I don't.
  13. Preston are going to seriously outclass us and then it will be obvious how far off we are.
  14. At least he is having a decent season in a reasonably good team so it should mean that we should be able to command a fair fee for him at the end of the season.
  15. A huge amount of full backs these days are converted wingers, it makes sense considering he will be behind Green in the pecking order as a winger but still can be useful. The club can't continue squandering youth.
  16. He reckoned wisdom teeth were the reason Seedorf was getting injured before joining Milan, always sounded like a bit of a spoof covering up a more obvious method of keeping players ultra fit well into their 30's. I'd agree on Cissokho, he will be more useful in any team apart from Villa.
  17. It seems he returned from loan earlier in the month where he got some decent 1st team experience. Would it be worth training him up as a left back to provide cover for Amavi with Cissokho leaving or is he good enough?
  18. And vice versa, I'm still absolutely sick about missing out on Darryl Horgan, exactly the type of player villa need in a position where there is no natural alternative apart from an 18 year old Andre Green.
  19. I still don't rate him, a slightly more energetic version of Westwood, he'd get the ball pass it sidewards to Hutton and the move breaks down. At least Hourihane and Lansbury can pass the ball forward. Also worth noting how good Gana is in comparison (slightly different position granted.)
  20. Mark Lawrenson was assuming Diego Costa would have nothing to do for 18 hours a day in whichever one of China's massive modern cities he ends up in. I'm sure with his £600k a week he might be able to find something to occupy himself with.
  21. Also think how miserable the place would be and how many fans would be pissed off if the midfield stays as it is for the rest of the season.
  22. Not nearly as bad as Lescott but similar in terms of his legs being gone. His beard and decent attitude are his only saving graces but it has been a disastrous signing.
  23. KEA wasn't appalling, a bit lightweight yeah but he pressed well, moved the ball quickly and generally took the right option. Westwood even looked relatively decent beside him and Delph.
