  1. He was poor for the goal though . Got out far too slowly.
  2. I don't know what to make of Bree if im honest. You look at Leeds young fellas when they get a start, they look like they want to grab the chance to impress and are well up for it. He's just so passive. Nothing stands out with him. Elmo did him no favours first goal, but he has to get out to Clarke quicker than that.
  3. I agree. I think a midfield 3 of Whelan, McGinn and Hourihane would be just wrong for this. They'll get through us. Our passing would become telegraphed and laboured, bit like last Saturday. If lansbury is right, start him. Has his flaws but tries to go forward.
  4. He caused them a lot of difficulty when he came on at elland road last season. Lansbury has a good concept of space, uses the ball well and takes up good positions. Just needs a bloody run without injuries.
  5. Frampton to beat the snot out of Warrington and us to do likewise to them. Think we are better prepared for a game of this magnitude to be honest. Taking absolutely nothing away from the run they've being on. Very impressive, but they've had a few soft touches like Bolton and Reading. We've played the best teams in the league the last month, have they ?
  6. Id have to see Henry get a string of games together before we take a punt on him. He's had an awful 2 years with injuries. On the flip side, i think Brentford would sell and right now none of their players would command a huge fee. It's a buyers market as regards Brentford right now. We should be also looking at Mepham and Konsa in my opinion.

    Paul McGrath

I started following villa mid way through the 92/93 season. Was football mad even then but it was McGrath that sold it for me when it came to villa. My folks didn't have Sky so most of what i did get to see was match of the day and our UEFA cup matches live on itv. Still sticks in the memory, our one nil loss to inter away when we done them on penalties( they were defending champions) Paul was immense. Berkgamp looked so disheartened...until his late penalty of course. McGrath, our greatest ever player imo.

I thought Laursen was brilliant but both fit and 100% it's McGrath all day for me. He would of made it in Italy too back in the day imo when it was a notoriously tough league.
  9. Reading at home. Ipswich away. Wednesday and preston at home. Oh Brucie you ****.
  10. Norwich will have a wobble. Certain of that as will Leeds. Hell of a long way to go in this people.
  11. Mate your stuck in the previous regime's way of thinking . Respect them, yes. Worry about them ? No chance.
  12. Just need to be professional now. It's a point. Get ready for stoke now. Strong possibility Rowett gets the door if they lose tomorrow i reckon. Hope he doesn't. Hate playing teams who have new manager bounce or get a lift because a new guy is coming in.
  13. We were the better team tonight tho. Without a doubt. Should of had them buried long before Rodriguez cheated.
  14. I look forward to our games now. That sounds trivial but for the last few years i felt i was watching villa out of loyalty. For that alone, thank you dean smith.
  15. I just think the pass isn't on when you weigh up the fact that we had nearly everyone in their box and he was miles off with it, looked showy but no end product to it...obviously. Don't blame him for that goal but he played a big part, pass just wasn't on. Taylor could of tracked Gayle better too.
  16. People will probably go nuts with me here but i think we are actually Tottenham light in what we are trying to do. We press very high. Direct balls at pace between the lines. It's a joy to watch. Now, we are light years away from them obviously but it's what we should aspire to be. 10 years we were finishing ahead of them.
  17. Absolutely. Nothing to be sniffed at what we did yesterday. Stark contrast to when we went to the riverside in May in the playoffs, went 1 up and parked the bus. Gibson must regret pulling the trigger too soon with Monk. What was he thinking. Looking forward to Friday night now.
  18. That Middlesbrough midfield was as slow as a wet week though. West Brom are far more potent going forward. Much different game.
  19. Do you worry that a lack of a 20+ goal a season player might hinder you's as the season progresses ? Roofe looks to be blowing hot and cold and he's not a prolific scorer anyway. Few Leeds fans i know in work ( I'm in Ireland) going mental that Leeds signed bamford. Not because of the injury but he's such an un-bielsa like player. Can't wait for the 23rd. All the best. Hopefully Frampton beats the snot out of Warrington the night before too.
  20. Can't be arsed getting into what we need to go up or playoffs. It's the first week in December. West Brom next . Focus has to be total.
  21. What i like is that it isn't just possession for possession sake. We are trying to move it between the lines faster and more direct and if the pass isn't on, we go back. I like that. We do still go through spells in the game where it is too slow, more so down to personnel and we will bring some in and some will go. To see Tuanzebe bring the ball out of defence like an absolute boss compared to the timid player under Bruce. Remarkable.
  22. Mceachran has a range of passing and go forward ability from a DM position that hourihane isn't close to. Honest. Granted he's a bit light but Conor doesn't exactly bust people up and forest walked through him the otgerf night.
  23. To say we are in new manager bounce is silly really. Pressing high, dominating the ball more, creating more chances has nothing to do with new manager bounce. It's training ground work.
  24. Mceachran would be a very astute signing. A much better footballer than Hourihane, better footballing brain. Brentford would sell in my opinion.
  25. Well it makes sense really if the work we do training is based on ourselves rather than the opposition then that's how we should be approaching it. Very positive that. I've no doubt he will be at the hawthorns tommorow night too.
