  1. As Brentford how they feel about Smith leaving this evening .
  2. I'd be disappointed if we didn't take these apart.
  3. Who wants to watch a goalkeeper defence midfield and strikers play as separate entities which is essentially what was happening for the last few years. We are playing out from the back. Hardly revolutionary stuff. It's common sense and the right way to play.
  4. Rome wasn't built in a day mate. Can't have it every way. We either want a proper run modern football club or just talk about wanting one but still demand instant success.
  5. An utterly pointless loan move. Again. Suliman has got potential. Being capped at various grades for England. Right now he is essentially training with a Dutch side who will probably end up in a relegation scrap. That's it. The sum total ( corect me if I'm wrong ) of his playing time so far for Emmen is against an amateur side in a cup game. I'd be shocked if our agreement with them is watertight and that we couldn't have him back in the morning if we wanted. Not saying to start him here. He's a way away from that but he would massively benefit from being at BMH daily with dean smith and co.
  6. Btw, great to see mature and educated opinions ( in the main ) on here regarding where we are and what we are trying to do. Not the " we lost so he's useless " stuff. I don't think Smith needs 6-8 weeks either as purslow said to sit down with pitarch and identify what/where we need to strengthen. If imagine he has a fair idea already.
  7. But I'll give you an example from last season. We beat wolves at home. Emotionally charged game. We were bang up for it. Individuals came to the fore. Then 3 nights later against last night's opponents at villa park ( who were battling relegation deep into the season ) we got turned over and beaten 3-1, possibly should of being more. No shape. Terrible on the ball. Look like we met for the first time in the dressing room. I'm very encouraged for next Friday night that in only 3 games we are bringing training ground play to match day instead of winging it.
  8. 100% agree. You could see how reluctant Nyland and Axel were last night to go long. Clearly training ground stuff. Even Elmo kept it short when thumping it long is the automatic for him. Chester looks very uncomfortable on the left side of a CB pairing. Dunno can they work on that. Hopefully.
  9. I think he is eriksen-lite in many ways. Great feet and balance. The shot that went just wide last night from just outside the box - he needs to take positions like that up more often. Not the most confident striker of a ball.
  10. I think it's sad that your gauge of progress is so black and white and your level of expectation for a team of villa players who are continually called one of the best sides in the championship ( even though you , me and the dog in the street know hand on heart that's an absolute myth ) is ridiculous. We've did more right things tonight than we have in a long while .
  11. Good delivery in. Lot of showy stuff that looks nice but isn't necessary at times. Will benefit from next week's training for sure.
  12. I've said it before. There are times, most of which have been in the last 2 years, where I've felt rotten..absolutely rotten when we got beat . Couldn't speak to me for hours. I'm not like that tonight. Quite calm. Disappointed we lost but for a squad in it's infancy under a new coach, impressed.
  13. Agreed. What's impressive is that Smith is unrelenting in how he wants the game played which when you hear talk of "clubs too big for him " puts paid to that.
  14. So then you couldn't see that we attempted to play the ball out from the back at every given opportunity tonight. That was no fluke. Clearly worked on. C'mon.
  15. A week with this group and i think we'll really put it on Bolton.
  16. Thank you. Like i said....I've felt much much worse after villa defeats. We bossed the ball. Needs work. Obviously. But it's encouraging that we can see things being done at BMH translating to match day. Playing out from the back tonight. So obvious we worked on that. We only went long when there was nobody to show for it.
  17. Depends how you define improvement. Would u of wanted to of scraped by Fulham in may and got the shit beating out of us in the prem or bring in a proper head coach, get us playing good football and set us up to compete going forward. I'm sick of this short sighted crap at villa.
  18. He's in the job over a week. Christ on a bike.
  19. I know. Sense of entitlement. 1982. Zzz zzz. Only now we are doing things the right way. It doesn't happen it in a week. Norwich fans wanted rid of farke a while ago.
  20. C'mon mate . You can't say hutton is crap at RB and then the solution you offer is to play Bree who to be honest has look timid and overawed in a villa shirt thus far. Been young doesn't mean he's the answer.
  21. But we haven't dominated the ball like that away from home in years id say. It's encouraging. Of course it's in it's infancy. Massive work needed going forward.
  22. Not just you mate. Has made his mark already. We are trying to play football. Personnel going forward will change.
  23. It's clear he doesn't trust lansbury, yet. Bjarnasson was playing very well too. Unfortunate.
  24. He is absolutely the right man for us. I've seen more of a coached group of players in 3 games....3 **** games guys just to get perspective here, than i did from that other clown in 2 years. Very encouraging to see us try to play out from the back. Individual error cost us. We played ok. I've felt much more rotten after a villa defeat than i do right now. A full weeks training now to prepare for Bolton.
  25. One of our best players last season. Yes he's playing shite on a left side of CB pairing but Chester has been immense in the main in a villa jersey.
