  1. Interesting tweet that i see a guy put out earlier that the WBO mandatory is due at the end of September and that rematch clauses do not trump mandatories. WBO mandatory. Dillian Whyte.
  2. Should try the guy Golovkin is now with, Jonathan Banks. Banks learned from Steward at the Kronk and trained Klitschko after steward passed. Very technical trainer, a boxers dream. Joshua has so much to work on. He is never going to be the lightest on his feet but there are subtleties that would make him better in that department.
  3. Hearn has done a terrible job with Joshua since Povetkin. It's the arrogance of Hearn i hate. From last November he had Wembley booked for Joshua for an April date. Never had an opponent but thinks Joshua v Anyone sells out Wembley. I've heard they gave tickets away for Povetkin because they couldn't shift them. Sky must be pissed that AJ is locked into this DAZN deal. If he wasn't Fury and Wilder negotiations be much easier.
  4. Word on the undercard. Buatsi is the real deal. Punches very precisely, wastes nothing. Josh Kelly. ? He's a KO waiting to happen. General rule of thumb in boxing is if you carry your hands that low , showboat and rely on reflexes you had better be a puncher. He isn't. Taylor was very lucky. Thought the Belgian shaded it. Callum Smith - very Callum Smith performance really, not much to say. 168lbs is weak so he could clean up .
  5. If your Wilder your getting on the phone to Haymon right now telling him " We've no date for Ortiz, no venue , pay him step aside money and give me Ruiz next "
  6. Possibly but just my opinion that there wasn't a hope in hell ruiz got this fight unless he made lots of concessions contractually. I've heard comparisons drawn this morning that joshua has to do a Lewis with Rahman kinda thing now. Miles off. When Lewis lost that fight he was the man at HW. That wasn't in doubt. So he basically just righted a wrong in the rematch and was rightly regarded as the best again. For the last 2 to 3 years Joshua, Wilder and Fury have been jockeying for position as number one and it was subjective who people would regard as best. Joshua is in a terrible position now. Even beating Ruiz won't do anything for his status. He can have 3 or 4 of those belts drapped around him and he's basically number 3 or 4 even in the division now and that will never change unless he beats wilder or fury. They are ahead of him now. No question.
  7. You'd imagine Joshua was safe guarded with a water tight contract. Ruiz jr was plucked from relative obscurity and wasn't mandatory with any of the governing bodies. Hearn said nov/dec in the UK.
  8. I imagine he'll rematch him pretty swiftly and in the UK too.
  9. Just woke up. Wow. Didn't see that coming. Props to Ruiz.
  10. Still showering apparently. Villa insistent .
  11. Don't do it mate. It's a bad card and an appalling main event. The minute Miller dropped out this should of been scrapped. Hearn has handled Joshua shockingly since Povetkin and now he's tied into a deal with DAZN that means who won't get near Fury or Wilder for a while. "The coming to America " theme for this fight has been cringeworthy. The only other fight id be tempted to buy with Joshua in right now is Usyk. Ok he's a small HW and not even debut at the weight yet but he can box. Makes it mildly interesting. Joshua's only other options after this are Whyte-Rivas winner or Parker again. That's weak.
  12. Honestly didn't think id live to see the day this thread got moved to other football
  13. I like it. Ruthless and efficient. No time for sentiment where we are going.
  14. One thing you can't say about purslow and the scouting department is that they leak to the media. We get our business done swiftly without others hearing about it and getting in first.
  15. Good ability on the ball. Weak as piss water though.
  16. Lack of genuine world class heavyweights coupled with the fact Usyk won all 4 titles at cruiserweight probably elevates him higher than would normally happen.
  17. Miles better than Adomah and Green. Has an end product to his game. Did very well in a blues team that doesn't see much of the ball. Very savvy piece of business.
  18. Off the top of my i don't know but what i do know is we have a capable and well staffed scouting department now and i would hope that our scouting extends to leagues outside England. Some real gems in the championship yes but have to be mindful of the quality we will be playing come August as opposed to the last 3 seasons. Gayle a prime example. Tears the championship up. Not quite good enough for the premier league. I just hope we recruit the required quality needed.
  19. Green's control of the ball, touch and delivery are light years away from what's needed to be a premier league player. Suliman. Is he another who you want to really really hope makes it but no tangible evidence to suggest he will ? He needs to take careful consideration of where his next loan move will be because the moves he has made so far have been disasters. I dunno who is advising the kid but if he's having discussions about going out on loan again he needs to start asking the right questions before signing anything. Namely, will i play ?
  20. Your signings and list of potential signings are a bit championship heavy for me. Ipswich tried to be clever and signed young league one talent. Ipswich are in league one now. Not opposed to signing championship players but the mix has to be right.
  21. Like watching a game of sensible soccer on the mega drive.
  22. I remember we won away at Bournemouth the opening day and thought Gueye was immense. Consistency was his thing, when he was good he absolutely bossed midfield. When he was bad, he looked knackered and couldn't pass it 5 yards. Heard the same from a few Everton fans but overall they are delighted with him. Veretout just wasn't that good, he was given chances. The fact he's gone on to do well with fiorentina is immaterial. He was poor for us.
  23. Seems like a guy who can detach himself from emotion in a split second which is what you need from someone in his position. Almost Levy like , but without the being a prick bit.
  24. Very passive on the ball. Needs to be a little bit more braver on it.
