  1. My guess is that Luna expected Guzan come for it, then Guzan saw what Luna expected meaning he was a bit slow out. So just my opinion without being there but was probably Luna's error. Doesn't need much communication if Guzan shouts KEEPERS (or similar) its his, if he doesn't deal with it yourself.
  2. Re being heavily marked. This isn't such a bad thing, providing the team keep developing then it will give more space for the others, especially late runs from midfield. Plus he's class, there's no way he will be kept out the game, all game (it will happen sometimes)
  3. Will be interesting to see what Lambert does choose and what effect it has. From my observation it's not really a typical 3 centre half, back line. With Herd not in a conventional CB role. Replacing Herd with Vlaar may not be as straight forward, would they get one of the three to take on Herd's role or become a bit more of a conventional back 3, or even Clark/Baker to make way? Having said this, i've not been to the last few games & only seen on laptop/tv so don't have a good perspective of positioning and play, so I may infact be talking rubbish. Its refreshing having a few options for a change
  4. I remember having a shit day and still being at work. Was meant to finish at 6, saw Ngog score and had enough so said I was going, got to my car and it was 2-0. Bit of a shit day all round. In the words of Bob Dylan The times they are a changin'.
  5. While he is steady enough and a good player to have in the squad, I don't think he's the left sided player to take us forward. Also I don't think either Bennett or Stevens have played enough to say who is the better and whether they are the man for the job, especially as we are more solid now and its not really because neither of them are playing.
  6. I was in the Arkles stand with the Swindon fans. The Swindon fans behind the goal were a bit louder but I'd say this was just down to the roof. There weren't that many fans by me doing the 19min clap.
  7. Thats pretty funny, reminds me of a conversation with a couple from London who've moved to Hall Green. They couldn't get over how obsessed the blue fans were they've had the pleasure of meeting. He was telling a time he had someone round to sort tv aerial or electrics, within seconds he had gone into a rant about Villa he told him to shut up and do what he's got him here to do
  8. So did Westwood and Carruthers and most the team 8 Pints said They won though!
  9. Ha ha, my ticket arrived this morning it does actually say 4th Round although it is in the home end though. Managed to get the full day off now, i really need to watch how much I drink
  10. Not been a regular this season or last, so well down on priority but usually I manage to get hold of a spare but not had a sniff so far this time. Got one in the home end though so at least i'll be there.
  11. Agreed, Alternatively If he said its up to the gaffer who picks the team i'll just try my best. People would be saying he's not interested and looking to go else where. Different comments same outcome of negative thoughts. I haven't got a problem that Lambert dropped him and haven't got a problem with Bent saying what he did.
  12. Fancy Vlaar to score this time and done a few little bets, with him to score first and scorecasts 3-0 and 4-0. Which might be a bit ambitous but its great to be optimistic again. This time last year we played QPR and by this point I had already started dreading the worst every game. As Cracker1234 said, I also have a feeling Bent might get 1 or 2.
  13. I'd also question whether Carew was really better than both Angel and Savo.
  14. While stats are without doubt used to evauluate a teams players, the opposition and potential players. Although there is so many variables with football compared to Baseball, which although is a team sport is very individually skilled.
  15. Pardew reckoned that they won't come up against many teams that work as hard as Villa, so the training must be working ........ On topic I remember regularly wandering round BMH when you you could poke around wherever you pleased. Happy chaotic days with b*gger all security. Haha yeah I remember those times too. I spent the whole day there with my Dad when I was a kid once, going all over the place with nothing more than a friendly nod from the staff It used to be a really good day out. One of the times I went as a kid I watched a bit of training in the distance had a wonder over to the clubhouse, Doug Ellis arrived in his car and got his autograph, then round the corner Spink was chatting to Withe (I didn't know who he was  ) Then I got of autographs and pictures with all the players as they headed into the club house.
  16. He attacks a lot more aggressively when on played on his natural side. Always committed to defending first, though. Although I think Lichaj is a good player, he does quite often look like he could give a penalty away. Although this again could be partly down to playing on the left.
  17. Who knows the what's going on. How I've seen it is Dempsey hasn't even wanted to talk to us pinning his hopes on Liverpool (you would have thought his agent must know something about Liverpools intentions) So **** him, even if he Liverpool is his first choice he could still speak to us but if this is the case then he's showed no interest whatsoever, so not he'se not exactly going to be a hungry player for us is he, so can't blame the club for withdrawing offer. Some people just love a moan and seeing the worst don't they!
  18. While you could be right, its more likely just the normal process its just Villa or Genk (more likely, if true) have announced it. You're going to be slightly pissed off if your first bid is accepted as you'll know you should have tried a lower bid.
  19. I would look at Huddlestone; I think he has the experience that we can afford. Personally i'd steer well clear of Huddlestone. Sure he's got a great shot and can pick a hollywood pass now and again but neither of which are going to be a regular thing. Other than those attributes he's a bit of a liabilty/passenger in midfield which we really could do without, and this is without mentioning he hasn't got the greatest fitness record. One things for sure reading all the posts here so many people have differing opinions on potential players. One thing is for sure (well pretty likely) is that were not going to sign a player that everyone is happy with. Fingers crossed the current players and any potential players who ever they may be, click soon and play how Lambert wants them to.
  20. I can't see that too be honest, It will either work out and he'll do well or we will make quite a big loss on him with the figures quoted if he's not a success and we get rid. As a player I don't mind him he works hard, scores goals and offers something a bit different to what we've got and definitely wouldn't be against it. Whether I'd pay £10m+ I'm not sure, but it doesn't matter what I think anyway. If it doesn't work out after one season and Lambert then moves him on, at 26 his price can't take too much of a hit, plus, depending on the contract length, the fee will still be substantial. At a wild guess I'd say his price after an average season for us would half if we wanted to get rid of him so £5-7m thats not great depreciation. Should we get him hopefullly he'll be a success and all this guess work will be irrelevent as he will score double figures and have plenty of assists.

  22. I'm hoping the same can be said of Delph, I think the reason why he gets caught in possesion so much is that there has been simply nothing on, whatever type of pass, ending up with Delph keeping hold of it longer than he should. In actual fact he usually does well to keep the ball as long as he does before the inevitable. So hopefully the increase in movement will help both players out.
  23. I definitely have't written him off and hopefully he stays injury free. Although he does need to take his chance when/if he gets it. He hasn't performed too well but I've seen enough to realise there is potentially a good player there. One of the probems is he's one of those players whose natural position doesn't really exist in most teams. Probably the best example i could give is Steven Pienaar, he's not a winger or central midfielder or plays in the the hole, so he will need to adapt, whether a defensive midfielder is the way about it I'm not so sure. Just hoping it will be an extra player for us this season, but in reality who knows?
  24. I think it depends which way the wind blows. Though there are rumours that Gustavo Poyet held up commuters at Brighton Station by arguing with the clek over the price of a cheap day return ticket to Birmingham. Might be more on Twitter.... A return???? Damn it, he already knows he is going to turn us down Although that is only going to impress Lerner knowing how cost conscious he is.
