  1. Looked like really bad cramp to me. He was lucky his studs didn't get caught in the pitch going with his left foot for the tackle at that angle though. It was brave and perfectly timed but definitely awkward and putting himself at risk. Glad to see him running around after the game. Hopefully not the last time we see him.
  2. It's been nice playing good football and winning plenty of games in the Championship. It's such an under-valued league. Most clubs would put up a good fight in most top European leagues imo. That said, the joy of swiping wins against the 'big boys' is also a lovely feeling. If our European scouting is on point then with the money now available then there's no reason why we can't see some really talented players arrive on top of what we've already got. Despite the few years away, I would like to think we have more pulling power than the likes of Bournemouth, Brighton and Burnley. Those clubs have a bit of a ceiling whereas Villa have far more potential. Even in defeats, the standard of football on show should be quality, if not as entertaining as the mentalness that the Championship could deliver at times. With Smith's style of play and clear ability to improve players from when he/they first get their hands on them then even if the season is a bit of a 13/14th place meh then there's always the pleasure in seeing players develop and the hope of closing the gap on the top teams season on season. Plus just having mad transfer links back will be fun. Oh yeah, having Villa players to choose from in fantasy football again
  3. Those few headers were absolutely monumental and galvanised the troops. He absolutely towered over players who weren't that much different in height to him. The hunger and desire is there and half the battle in competing against players technically better which is why the likes of Burnley generally survive solidly. He's young and with a bit of ability on the ball too. Glad he's proven his fitness and we can pick him up for about £3/4m now. These days, that's a steal for a player who can cover CB and LB and with scope to improve further with Smith and co.
  4. I worry that we'll be lumbered with a good few that we don't want because of nice, big paying contracts. Maybe we can pay off a few who are done next year. Alternatively, €120m on that Benfica whizz-kid. It's real to me, god damn it.
  5. I've gone 3-1 Villa and McGinn to score first in separate bets. I'd happily lose £3.56 if Villa want to win by another score and somebody else scoring 1st.
  6. Cole's lack of legs and pace need pushing on a big Wembley pitch. Happy to see him starting despite his experience.
  7. I'm buying a Sky Sports Day Pass for this. That's how much I want this. Can't be relying on some shitty stream today!
  8. One guy kicking ass. Mellow, melodic, brutal.
  9. I used to have a habit of falling asleep on the crapper after a heavy night. Didn't stop me from scanning people's tampons and fish cakes through the checkout, a week later in Tesco.

  11. He's good at nipping in last second and it looks impressive when half the time it shouldn't have been needed at all. Hause looks just as/if not more comfortable on the ball and has the added height to defend the high balls. I understand why he's still playing despite that as frustrating as it may be. He won't be the starting LB next season 99% guaranteed whatever league we are in. Neil is very safe and bland for a player who is capable of getting himself into really great positions which is a strength many full backs wish they had. Whether it be confidence or just limited ability, he doesn't make enough of the space he has for himself. It's usually just squaring a ball back to someone with little space themselves or a dinked/floated in cross. At lower levels a big lump may get on the end of them but with better quality defenders, that shit doesn't fly. Crosses with pace is always the enemy, it leaves little time to deal with it. It isn't rocket science.
  12. He plays like someone who knows he's gone either way at the end of the season. The peg was like watching an amateur against his mates. There's always less of a margin of error for aiming higher but it seemed so nonchalant. Zero convict. I think he is on his way down but at the same time, I think there's still enough there that he hasn't been showing which is the frustrating part. Maybe we all read in to things too much but he's a shadow of the previous few seasons imo and I'd rather stick Kodjia there for the final over him and Green as he can still produce magic.
  13. I hate them type of pegs, it gives a keeper who doesn't fully launch either side a chance with their legs/feet. Pick a place and cement it there. Morrison showed how it's done. That said, he showed stones stepping up for it. He hit the target and we're one game away.
  14. If he had signed for a big fee and from abroad I think the praise would oddly be higher rather than the damning with faint praise comments. Norwich fans raved about him when we signed him. He's never been awful. Every keeper makes a mistake or two. In general he's been solid as but never been given a run. Despite the money we spent on Kalanic and the rep he has with Croatia it's nice to see Jed being given the chance to show his ability. At, 26, he's still a good 5/6 years from his peak. Ben Foster was 3rd choice at Stoke behind Ed de Guey and Steve Simonsen before his loan to Wrexham in League 1. Alex Ferguson spotted him because Darren Ferguson was playing for Wrexham then and saw him smash it at the LDV final. He's still now a European quality keeper when he could have ended up stuck on a bench. Keepers are judged on a couple of games because that's all that they usually get and it's dumb. I love that Smith and co have seen the potential in him and trusted him with the shirt and not just gone back to the expensive signing. De Gea has fluffed plenty in less stressful games and he's still immense, despite the media shark frenzy. A bit of a shaky show at times away at WBA doesn't mean Steer isn't capable of being a top level keeper. A few more inches in height would be awesome but as a whole, he's shown more than capable.
  15. As Farlz suggested, I think his general standard is so high that anything other than damn good stands out. His energy to set up Davis in the last few minutes of extra time was insane. The guy is probably just absolutely worn out with the amount of work he gets through. Thankfully a good rest is available to him for the final. I know he plays similar minutes to the rest of the team but I've not seen anything like him in terms of energy exerted since Milner. It's easy to take it for granted after a while.
  16. If you could send some suggestions to Wrexham, that would also be great.
  17. Yes, but what does he look like?
  18. I understand that. I was just curious as to why/how it got to that stage. Do Brentford think they can do better than him or that he thinks he can do better than Brentford?
  19. What's the deal with Yoann Barbet? Is he released because he's not good enough? Released because he doesn't want to sign a new deal?
  20. True, it could go either way. As long as Albert's legs hold out it's all good.
  21. Maybe Green on for Albert to stretch their defence as they chase the equaliser? His pace could damage them on the break.
  22. What a quality goal. As mentioned, El Ghazi does resemble Ronaldo in style of play. Hopefully we can sign him up permanently. Looks unstoppable at times.
