  1. You're like a BBC HYS poster. Absolute cringe whether you're serious or a wind up. Sad either way.
  2. It reminds me of when I was a kid on the weekend and my Mum used to ask me multiple times if my homework was done and sorted and I'd say yes. Then at 10pm on a Sunday night I'd be rushing it because I hadn't actually done it. The result was more red crosses than I should have got because I brushed stuff I knew off instead of continuing to work at it when I was already aware of what I needed to do. Actions speak louder than words.
  3. I love how people think they're doing him a favour by maybe giving him a summer window. How generous of you. Absolutely pathetic. Modern football fan mentality that generally gets clubs nowhere. He's not beyond criticism but I'm sick to the back teeth of this throwaway, chop and change way that doesn't allow for any sort of roots or long term plan to bear fruit.
  4. Welcome aboard Neeson, a true Wolf-puncher.
  5. I like how many people who believe he did it just class it as a fact, despite it being an opinion. Only he will know.
  6. Plenty of good players get relegated. Especially if a decent amount of their other signings are crap.
  7. Fer is damn good, surprised he didn't get a move back to the Prem when Swansea went down.
  8. Congratulations! I'm really happy for you both. Being Welsh myself, you made a great choice in coming here for a nice week. Well done on the engagement too.

    K-Mac

I don't understand how he was put back in charge of the U23's after already being found guilty in another investigation by the Premier League.
  10. It's really difficult not to be a cheap swine and have a pop at Bruce. BUT. He gave it his all and was way too short on a huge budget without any sort of plan. Four or five weeks in with Smith and it's a million miles away from the usual. Loving it. More to come.

    John Terry

I think Laurent Koscielny asks for it too.

    John Terry

Now I get why the Chelsea fans love him when I used to think he was an absolute c-bomb. He's done some c-bombish things in the past but he seems more humble than ever now to me. I'm also amazed how he's pretty much had the same haircut for about 20 years and it's never been in fashion or looked smart. I genuinely wonder what he asks for at the barbers, same with Manuel Pellegrini, that's some hair right there.
  13. If anybody listens to the Owain Tudor Jones podcast called The Long man's Football World Podcast then there's a 2 episode one with Taylor which has a good insight into him and an explanation for the tired eyes. He also had the snip in the summer and has 4 kids. He's got his head screwed on. Well worth a listen. More relaxed and open than the usual 5 minute interview they are forced to do.
  14. Thankfully, it's only hippo who sees any sort of issue in a common sense sub. The stance is a bit baffling. Trying to make a hippo's arse out of an ant's backside 'talking point'. He was knackered, we weren't reliant on another goal, it was in the 83rd minute. There's no issue or problem. Good players can get subbed if they are not up to scratch. Bizzare comments.
  15. I understand where you are coming from, but it's not just paying money to help another club nurse their player. Once he's up to real match fitness then we have a player who is a class above this level and could be a big difference in helping us go up. That investment in him could look miniscule, in comparison to the financial benefits of promotion. It is a gamble expecting him to be the beast he was but so far, he's played 127 mins and scored 2, that's better than a goal a game ratio. He got us a point against PNE which could end up being valuable come the end of the season and he cemented the 3 points against Rotherham with his goal. I think he'll start tomorrow for some much needed game time and then maybe off the bench again Friday before we see him start to feature more prominently. We're doing Everton somewhat of a favour but we're also doing ourselves a favour if he comes through.
  16. What's the correct term for people wanting to express old-school and real-deal, literally? It won't be long until u, wat, cuz, m8 are in the dictionary ?
  17. If he was literally everywhere, then the heat map wouldn't have dark parts. I hate the improper use of the term, literally. Still really impressive from McGinn though. Good lad.
  18. There's nothing same old, same old about it. That's just a lazy stereotype/phrase thrown around with little context. He's British, yes, but does he set teams up like Bruce, Moyes, Allardyce, Simon Grayson, Dean Keates, Steve Evans, Michael Appleby etc etc? Nationality has nothing to do with anything. British managers can play attacking football. I would have been more than happy with a foreign manager who got us playing attacking football but with the likes of Henry and Faria, in reality, you have no clue what you'd be getting as they haven't taken the reigns themselves. Smith is known for possession based, attacking football, that is a known. If we have to believe he has little control then he's been forced to play attacking football, he does what we should be doing with the attacking players we have. The fact he's a Villa fan is a bonus. He'll have heard all the whinging about the dire, defensive football played from family members I suspect, as well as him just having an interest as an opposition coach, never mind a keen fan. If the guy was foreign and was called Diego Sanchez doing the job he's done with Brentford then some people would be noshing him off. The concern about him being a smaller part of a bigger thing is somewhat fair but he's still doing the job he's employed to do and we don't know just how much input he actually does have over things. I'm sure he still has an eye for a player but most importantly he can see his squad of players and work out how to play to the strengths our players have rather than restrict them. If, as people want to demean him say, the others do the recruitment, set the ethos etc then they still employed him to coach them all, work out who/what works best game to game to compete. He's walking into a squad with so much attacking threat it's mad. If he can get the likes of McGinn, Grealish and Hourihane on the ball, creating an piling forward rather than everyone piling back behind the ball as soon as we don't have it then that's an instant boost. I've never seen 10 men behind the ball and still see so much space afforded to the opposition. Every appointment has its risks, pluses and minuses. The big name ones seemed more based on excitement rather than anything of any real solid ground. I would have been happy to go for a gamble on the likes of Henry, Faria but it's just that, a gamble. Smith is a gamble too but there's utter logic and sensibility behind it but it's not a boring appointment either because of his link to the club but more importantly, his enthusiasm for delivering attacking football. Aston Villa in the Championship should be controlling the football and taking it to the opposition, not counter attacking. I'm more than happy with this appointment. Terry as a coach is also huge for any player who thinks he's Billy big Balls. They'll get taken down a peg. That said, I don't think Smith would allow any of them to think they're bigger than the club since he knows the club inside out.
  19. "Get stuck in like I got stuck in with Jordan, Ooo errr, top of the league".

    The NSWE Board

Because we haven't appointed a manager instantly and they aren't media/attention whores. Disgraceful.
  21. Sanchez Flores isn't intimidated by big names and is quite hands on too.
