  1. I really don't know. If Randolph wants to keep us in the Premier League, he simply has to sack Lambert. I would assume his goal is for us to stay up, so he can get maximum return on selling up. However, if we get to the point of no return, where we're definitely going down, he might choose to keep him because he has a track record in promotions and hope we come straight back up. I don't think Lerner's completely given up interest in us and he knows it's in his best interest to keep us up in the Premier League, so if things get any worse, I think he will step in and pull the trigger.
  2. My main problem is with the bickering. DB has been a moody child in the press, but was there any need to stoop to that level? And saying he wasn't good enough is a bit rich looking at our current goal tally. Sorry Daz, you just didn't make the cut like our current goal machine outfit. If I were PL, I'd have just left it. Let him finish up his contract so he can go enjoy his football somewhere.
  3. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2917219/Darren-Bent-simply-wasn-t-good-says-Aston-Villa-manager-Paul-Lambert.html "Darren Bent simply wasn't good enough, says Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert" Saw this article this morning. I think it's a bit unfair to Bent. If we loaned off all the players that weren't good enough, we would only have Guzan left.
  4. I read today that Andy Gray was pimping us out to rich Middle Eastern gentlemen. Should I be as worried as I am?
  5. I know we've played around with different tactics recently but we should really give this one a go next season.
  6. Lambert had whiskey on his cornflakes this morning then.
  7. I haven't played since like October (poor memory) and I'm not in the relegation zone! Time to come back with a stormer: Aston Villa 3-1 Liverpool Burnley 1-1 Crystal Palace Leicester 0-2 Stoke QPR 1-2 Man United Swansea 1-2 Chelsea Tottenham 3-0 Sunderland Newcastle 0-2 Southampton West Ham 2-1 Hull Man City 3-1 Arsenal Everton 1-1 West Brom
  8. I absolutely hate this. The single worst thing to come out of the Lerner/Lambert era is Villains divided. We're some of the most passionate supporters in the Premier League, and the idea that we stand separated bugs the McLeish out of me. Whether you take your seat before kick off and proclaim you're a Holte Ender at the top of your lungs, or you stand in the concourse for 8 minutes, telling the world that we want our Villa back, we share the same love of our team. We each have a passion for our team and should remember that you're no less or more passionate than the guy in his seat. I don't know the answer to moving on from this regime, but if you feel protesting will work, do it. If you feel getting behind the team is more beneficial, crack on, but I'll respect anyone's decision because at the end of the day we want the same thing.
  9. Yeovil Town Vs Stevenage in the 2002 FA trophy final at Villa Park. My first time at Villa park. I live in Yeovil, so I made the trip to watch my local team, play in my dream stadium. Yeovil won 2-0 and I got to spend 90 minutes "at home".
  10. But.. I read on TBAR...
  11. There's a lot to be said about the amount of money Lambert's been given, and we're under no illusions that it's not enough to be competing for Europa. That being said, the way we're playing at the moment, could you see us beating an Ipswich side that cost £10K to construct and currently sit in 3rd in the Championship?
  12. Just listened to the latest episode. Loved it. It's great to hear other fan's opinions. Subscribed.
  13. I miss the chirpy optimism of the "Title Chase" thread.
  14. You may be right, but if you are, what would you do if you were RL? Which manager would you suggest for the role of moulding a top 8 team from a bottom 5 team with 15 million pounds a year for transfers and 0 pounds a year for salaries? That's the million dollar question. I think the squad is better than we're currently performing. I also think we can't do worse than what we're currently doing. A change tends to add a bit of impetus to the team. Lambert used to speak of negative individuals in the dressing room bringing moral down. I'd hazard that currently he's filling that role. Giving an enthusiastic manager a chance may just give the team the kicking they need.
  15. I have to agree with a lot of what MK says. When Lambert joined he was fresh and full of energy and enthusiasm. I was genuinely excited, but after McLeish who wouldn't be? I don't know what changed. Whether the lack of funds broke him down or the lack of faith from the pundits in the youth, but he has changed a lot. His shopping list, his energy, his tactics, all have changed. Maybe it's the pressure? Let's not forget that before us, he only had about an hour's Premier League management experience. Is he happy? I think it's a mixed bag. He has a great salary, a long contract and he's managing in the Premiership. However he has lost most of the fans, and maybe even the dressing room. I think he loves the job and has tried his best, but the task is too big for him. Something tells me if a Burnley or Leicester came in for him, he would be keen to go do the same job, but with a new chance (a la Pardew). But I firmly believe he has to go. Given funds and maybe a Championship team, he will succeed but I think this is just a bit much for him now.
  16. Never knew this existed! Downloading now. I live in Somerset now so it's a rare opportunity to hear a Villa fan rant.

Very excited by this. Just feed the beast, G(h)illy.
  20. I think the decision will more likely come from the office of Tom Fox than Randy. Come on Foxy!
  21. I doubt Lerner even watches our matches. It's time for Foxy to step up and pull the trigger. Get someone in quick enough/caretaker in time to make some cheap January movements and start playing some ballsy football. Of course, Lambert will still be manager this time next year.
  22. For me it's for the greater good. We all hope for a change in playing style and results but I don't believe it will happen under Lambert. We drop three points and possibly change the manager and our long term chances, or we beat Crystal Palace 1-0 and struggle in around 16th. Believe me, I hate seeing Villa lose. I'm fed up with it, that's why I want a change.
