Ask for an upgrade. Always worth a shot. My sister gets upgrades all the time, but she's in the travel industry which helps. Most likely cause to get upgraded is apparently when they oversell economy seats - I twice got upgraded to business class with Air NZ for this reason. I was late both times, but cos of the oversold seats resulted in upgrades and financial compensation
  5. Good appointment I think. Degree of risk that it'll all go wrong, but at least that will mean some entertainment. It's win-win.

Amazing. Denies any wrong doing, so he gets very publicly backed by his captain, manager, and president (!!) and of course it's all a beat up from the British press... then a couple of days later, "yeah, I did do it, sorry", which of course also means "yes, I lied through my teeth at the FIFA tribunal". Such an arsehole.
  7. Cook has way too much talent as a batsman to be dropped, and we should stick with him as long as we can to help him find form. But he's got next to no talent for captaincy and that should have been taken from him straight after the Ashes. Let him worry about his batting and let someone else take over as captain.
  8. Nope, but I think they could perhaps draw the line at criticising his victims...
  9. Quite possibly. But that's got nothing to do with the map. Slightly misleading though, you have to say. The implication made is that the world is divided into the "haves" (blue) and the relative "have-nots," (red) so one would assume, based on that map, that Britain has a higher GDP than France (especially when you consider that the other countries that are in blue are all among the 5 largest economies in the world). It's not haves and have nots in the way you're reading it... it's showing inequality in distribution of wealth, but in terms of landmass. The total of the blue countries GDP are worth the same as the total of the red countries, despite being maybe only 10% of the land.
  10. Enjoying a bit if Human League by Show of Hands and the Spooky Mens Chorale
  11. Don't understand that; could you give a link to the source? Thanks! The GDP of the countries in blue is equal to the GDP of the countries in red.
  12. These players are all good player for their respective teams but they are complimented by better players e.g. Suarez, Coutiniho. Indeed, made to look good by those around them.
  13. World GDP split equally into two portions.
  14. A fair chance I would think. The Australian team will fight hard in any game to make up for their lack of quality, and the manager knows what he's doing. Although they'll be missing Cahill. Really depends which Spain turn up... a team of world class players desperate to claw back some pride, or a team that knows they're out and just wants to get it over and get on the plane.
  15. he has 5 of Australia 11 World Cup goals More goals at WC level than Messi and Ronaldo put together
  16. Both goals brilliantly taken, but I think Van Persie's edges it to be fair.
  17. Reminds me of France a while back... won 98 WC and '00 Euros, then knocked out of '02 WC without scoring a goal.
  18. Done deal. Not a bad choice I reckon.
