mmmmmmmmmmmm I am yet to be convinced by Delph. Flashes of ability no doubt, but he cannot shoot for sod all and does like to dive into a challenge every so often. I don't think he will ever be the guy to open up teams with a killer pass on a regular basis, or chip in with 10 goals a season year in year out - but I do think he could be the midfield 'sitter' and just keep things ticking over with the odd foray forward. My problem with that is (in my mind) puts him directly in competition with Westy.

He never was and never will be a complete striker. He's not even world class. Granted he's a good finisher and will score if you get the ball to his feet in the box. However the ball to his feet at the half way line is a completely different matter. Yes, he kept us up once, and I like every villain am grateful for that but don't overhype bent!! If we manage to rid ourselves of Ireland, given, bent and Hutton then I can see no reason why we wouldn't dip into the market again. I think it's obvious lambert had (and probably still has) definitive targets - my guess is that this will include a goal scoring midfielder, which we are lacking. Such a healthy squad, great prospects, good football ...... I can't be the only one thinking about higher than mid table ..................

A certain Alan Hansen said something similar about a certain team that plays in red that went on to win the Premier League with the same kids. I am by no means saying that we even have an optimistic shout of winning the premier league this year, I'm pointing out that having youth dominate a team does not in any way mean we cannot get back to winning trophies.
