  1. Our last game....Ipswich, right ? Yes I did watch it actually, but I base my opinion about him on more than just the one game - unlike some it would appear....
  2. Guilty or not remains to be proved. For me, he winds me up enough with his flitting around like a show pony on the pitch and not being more direct. Shoot if you think it's on. Pass to some one else if they're in a better position.....just DO SOMETHING
  3. I went to southampton on thur night with a czech work pal who is a massive sparta prague fan. £20 ticket for the away fans - quite reasonable. Lost 3-0, sparta were like the villa have been and it was pretty much a non contest all night. Standing with the away fans including some of their ultras, it became very apparent to me that there were a few right wing idiots amongst us (one giving nazi salutes to the southampton lot whilst standing next to a copper who did fck all about it !). I speak no czech whatsoever but my pal let me know what was being sung and shouted. At one point their centre half Costa (lanky zimbabwean) got booed when his name was read out at the start of the game. "Is he crap ?" I asked my friend. "No, it's because he is black " he shrugged apologetically and sure enough, he got dogs abuse whenever he messed up, more than the others got. A fight broke out at 2-0 down, as one little d1ckhead offered out an old man for a fight cos he had dared to disobey the teenager's order to raise his arms at the start of a chant. This kid screamed he was going to take his pic & shame him at the next home game & he then proceeded to bite the back of the seat in front of us to show how offended the old man made him ! A few more joined in, handbags stuff really and it snowballed to about 30 having a wrestle with the cops and stewards..........more nazi salutes........southampton score a third. Game ends, we get held back for 30 mins....i drive home, 1 hour diversion off the M3 & then drive through savage lightning/rainstorms to get home at 3am. It was like being back at a game in the late 70's.......and not just for the mullet haircuts......i know it's eastern europe but some of their opinions and politics (never mind racist attitudes) were quite depressing.
  4. The red lion definitely does the fish pakoras on the special mixed grill but there is a fair amount of lamb on it too. I reckon you request what you want on ur grill order so should be able to swap the lamb. I did the sportsman 20 yrs ago when desI grills were basic. I remember you saying about the Talbot and that will be my next visit !

    Burgers

Hungry Jack's (Australia's version of BK) used to do a mushroom double Swiss cheese burger.....filthily delicious
  6. Depends when u go. I found that 6pm till 8pm even mid-week can be busy (ie, traditional tea times) but 3pm on a Saturday it was a breeze. It is worth the wait though.....and the takeaway option seems popular too. The thing is, I think it's a sign of a good place to eat if it's usually popular. There are other desi pubs near the red lion now so they've had to step up their game and stay competitive with quality of food etc.
  7. It was between 3 of us and we didn't finish it all but we're given cartons to take it away in. Very tasty indeed ! Was there last Saturday lunchtime , place was full of man ure plastics who luckily for us, cleared off en masse at the final whistle....back to Smethwick
  8. I salute Mr Xela's soho tavern mixed grill and raise him a lamb jalfreizi, garlic chicken, masala chips, naans and special mixed grill courtesy of the red lion West Brom
  9. Whilst I agree that 7 games is no time at all to decide whether RDM should stay or go, there are other teams that ARE getting on with it and if we're not careful we'll slip further away each week and before we know it, the gap is 18 points to the top 2 or at least a dozen to 6th. Yes, there are plenty of games to come but I think most of us have realised that this league is gonna be a slog.....a looooong slog

    Life Insurance

Check out that Martin Lewis money-saving expert website. It's pretty informative and is independent so it won't try to blag ya in to choosing one over the other.
  11. With reference to the Wimbledon tennis rant above; I would add that I absolutely despise the unfunny clearings in the woods who shout out "witty" crap even after the umpire has called for quiet. Worse still, they get a ripple of chuckles whigh only encourages them to do it again Oh how amusing you are. Not.
  12. The other phrase that does my head in is "buy in to...." Words removed, indeed.
  13. Ah yes, Meath. That hotbed county of hurling. Now THAT deserves a
  14. Nice to see someone else win it. The cats have had it their own way for too long now. Next year it'll be the Rebels' turn. Corcaigh abu !
  15. Vaz has always come across as a smug, oily creep and whenever I saw him on tv as head of the select committee, giving some other fecker being grilled about something a really hard time, I always thought "one day it'll be you". Well Keith.....ain't karma a bitch !?
  16. ok........i'll admit it....i'm slow, but i dont get the pile of logs/chopped wood one. What am i missing ?
  17. Morrison thread locked again ? Last time I checked, loads of bets were being put on him coming to us. Has there been more news - to the contrary ?
  18. I'm already checking to see if hernandez is in the hull team tonight. ......or if he's "injured"....
  19. So ur boss is also a medical expert, is he ? Thought not. I'm recovering from testicular cancer since mid June and called in sick after a dose of chemo. The attitude of a boss I called in to took my breath away. My absence was an annoyance to him and he was clearly irritated. Yeah, like I'd just called in with a sniffle. As other posters have said - f*ck em.
  20. Hi mate,

Hope you dont mind me contacting you, but I am going to the southampton v sparta prague game next month with a czech friend and i noticed that you posted on here about the ocean village for parking. In your opinion, is it a secured area/well it & safe enough to walk back to after the night match ? Is the ground well signposted from there ?

I'll be driving from Birmingham so I'm hoping for a decent & quick getaway afterwards :o)

    Thanks in anticipation,  UTV !

  21. This. 100% this. In particular, those who stand in the door way to bars, barely outside meaning you still have to walk through their plumes of smoke. However, the one that REALLY does my head in are the ignorant words removed who smoke right outside hospital entrances ! Not including the buggers in dressing gowns, hooked up to drips or in wheelchairs as they shouldn't wander off too far. I once took a pic of a nhs notice outside an entrance to good hope thanking folk for not smoking. It was surrounded by fag ends. Oh the irony.
  22. I don't know if it's human nature but if someone tells me the atm isn't working, I still have to check for myself. Probably just me, I guess.
