I honestly can't understand why some have an expectation of all the new signings hitting the ground running, it was never going to happen. He needs time to adjust, find his role in the team. He certainly is talented so coached correctly I'm sure he will prove to be a good signing, until then I guess he will have to get used to being the new Villa scapegoat.

Close to how I'd like to see us go however Okore on the left doesn't fill me with confidence, put Clark in for Okore and the balance would be better. As for the new striker I'd like Austin even at 15m. If we don't get a regular goalscorer I really fear for this team. Gil starting is a must for me if he can stay injury free.

Until this team has had some games under their belts we aren't going to know if they are good enough, which scares the crap out of me but there's nothing that can be done other than to watch and hope. Personally I'd like to see Austin come in, a goalscorer who knows where the net is. He (or a player like him) would really help to take some of the pressure off the new lads. We also desperately need Gil and/or Grealish in the team ASAP.

It feels like when we signed JPA, hardly knew anything about him but couldn't wait to see him play. Exciting times ahead, except for ba humbug Daz, Cheer up it happened

I hate playing these lot, not because of there team but the vile glory hunting fans. Never met one I didn't feel like chining. The best game I ever saw at VP was under floodlights, the atmosphere generated that night in 76 against Liverpool was awesome if only we could replicate that, bring the roof down. Who knows? maybe instead of having to put up with every redscum smug face we might be the ones smiling. Come on Villa!!!!!

Wow, I thought it was a dying art as I'd forgotten what it was like seeing a winger run to the bye line and pull the ball back, a defenders nightmare. Seriously if this guy signs Rudy's gonna score for fun and finally someone who can keep up with Gabby!

The game went as I expected, with so many new players it's going to take time gel. Some good performances though, I thought Richards was excellent at CH. I'm not sure what Ayew's roll was, he looked lost but he looks like a talented player so they'll work it out. Ashes and a Villa win, if only the Eagles had of won it would've been a perfect day

How do you know this? At the request of fans or just printing them ready? Getting them ready, started doing it today. A friend works there. Why? Who the f*** would want a Villa shirt with the name of a loan player on it? Unless it's a permanent deal.....noooooooo!!!

Maybe on top of Spuds paying his 100k wages they are paying us 5m plus 1m compensation per week to have him. Still I think Spurs are getting the better in the deal

I'd be genuinely surprised if anyone uses a pre season friendly to judge a player. Most of the new signings are going to go through a settling process when their form might well take a hit, our fans had better understand this because it's not going to be easy. We need to get behind all of them to make it as easy as possible otherwise it's going to be a long season, again.

I have never taken a lot of notice of pre season results as it's all about fitness and for the manager trying things out. Player's make mistakes, systems fail but hopefully everyone learns something. It gets real next weekend though and I can't wait

Wembley? TBH I haven't got a clue but I'm optimistic that it will be in the top half. For the first time in what seems forever I'm excited about watching Villa!

I've only seen him play 3 or 4 times, but he reminded me of the James Milner that we had in 09/10 playing at cm. Good on the ball, nice range of passing, makes great runs into the box to support the attack. I think you'll want to keep him. So I guess we'll just have to enjoy watching him for a season or 2 before ManC/plop come knocking. Getting used to that feeling now so bring it on. Until last week I'd never heard of him but now he's the 1st name on the team sheet!!!! No pressure then.

Anything above 30k per week without any loan fee would be too much for him. Not saying he's a bad player, he's not but the risk isn't worth paying anything like the reported figures. Only way I'd pay more is in bonuses.
