  1. When they bite back I suppose. There must be a tipping point when millions and millions of people have effectively nothing in terms of current assets or future prospects. There is nothing more dangerous in the world than people with nothing to lose, hopefully Cameron will find out one day.
  2. I'm sure it was his wallet, he was going through papers and forms from it before counting the money. The money was not really what caught my attention, it's the fact he did it on a crowded bus. Would you do that on the number 11 in Brum? I wouldn't.
  3. Gave up my car and on public transport now. So far after a week or so I like the following:- Reading books every day on my mobile. (Dexter at the moment). God I missed books and they are all free now, even better. I live 34 metres from the train station (Train then bus every day) Selling my car for a nice price even after having it for 6 years (proper surprised) Always something nice on the bus every day to brighten up the day (Women / Stops at a college :-) ) Always get a seat no matter what. Feel kinds stress free now, even though I leave my house at 7:05 am the thought of not buying petrol and been robbed by the government makes me happy.(I was going to kill soon on the roads so best to leave it eh ?) I found out I get a nice tax break if I can prove I travel by public transport for a year. It takes only 15 minutes longer than in the car on average but the car travel time increases every year. Current speed is 1hr (For 17KM's FFS). In theory I can ride a bike quicker. I can rent my garage out and get a nice tax free income as small as it is.
  4. In the last 2 days on the Bendy Bus in Holland (To be honest it's really good as it has it's own road) I have seen to funny things. Monday Night, a few Turks could not get in the bus fast enough so a fight broke out by the door. Saw a white bloke take a right hook of one of them and he just laughed at him. Tuesday night, got on the bus and there was a tramp at the back of the bus. A proper one, drinking lager with 6 more in the old Aldi bag. Looked like he had slept out for a week to be honest and smelt like small heath. About 20 mins in the journey he starts getting some papers and stuff out his jacket and then his wallet. Calm as anything, counts € 1000 + (50's and 100''s) onto the seat next to him, puts it away and gets off the bus. Speechless.
  5. Criminal Minds is a right nice show, clever effects also. Anyone else watch it ? (Quite old now)
  6. Never really seen Ireland do much to convince me he is a Prem player. If anything he looks Championship class at best IMO.
  7. I had a dream last night where everyone (non UK) in Europe throws their hands up in the air in a bit of a Jon Inman / Dave Cameron type way and said "**** this for a game of soldiers", Angela looked up and said "Did some one say WWIII"....and so on.... My Question (eventually after the madness) is: What would happen if they (only invited guests obliviously) all joined the pound ? (Lets say the Germans / Dutch / France). What would be the upsides / Downsides. Could the 4 in the example effectively rule Europe financially and pick off the other countries at will, especially as they would still be using the Euro. I know it's a stupid idea but not as stupid as a Single currency for Europe it seems or not nearly as stupid as having a LIB/CON government.
  8. Agreed, we did well. Looked like we had a bit of energy and drive. Most important of all, see what happens when we pass to each other. Great win and a positive step forward.
  9. Depends what he is worried about, I would say it's wages before results all day long. If he cared about the actual footie on show we would not be talking about losing 2,3 or even 5 game sin a row anyway. If Randy had put a 5 million (Can't lose, not many double like that in betting world. This was.) double bet on Spurs and Manutd to beat us maybe we could move forward.
  10. I am with you in not understanding it but proper football people are saying exactly what you describe. So the question is why can't it translate to live games ? Surely this is football manager 101 ?
  11. I've had an idea for an app. Every bus has webcams pointing out of each side, streaming images that you can then watch on your smartphone. Incidentally it was one of my rare bus commutes this morning, as we have our works Xmas meal today and I intend to get a tiny bit wasted. I wasn't looking at my phone though, I was reading a book (paper thing, might catch on one day). Funny you say about the books, I used to take a book with me everywhere but found loads on the internet and stuck them all on my mobile. I used to love books, as in the look, covers and general feeling of holding them and all that. No any more. I feel this is a shame as I can see a world where paper books are a rare thing. It makes no sense to print them any more in my opinion. That's a lot of bookcases and libraries around the world.
  12. The thing I cannot fathom is that Collymore is 100 % sure they are doing the right things on the training ground, Sid is there ffs so why can't we pass 5 metres when he could pass a ball as well as Becham. From what Collymore said it's all very close to clicking and the long ball thing is just a get out of jail. Collymore is as much a Villa fan as anyone on here so what's going on ? I would go down Bodymoor myself if I still lived in Sutton but it's a bit far these days. That's the only way for me to understand what's going on at the moment.
  13. To be fair, he admitted he made mistakes today. Especially at Spurzz in regard of tactics and team selection. To put his mistakes into context it's about the same as if someone asks you to do us a favour and set the table ready for dinner, you say OK and then proceed to paint yourself purple and fill the washing machine with 2 old car battery's and a dead Gerbil (in a very small cowboy outfit, with hat, no gun) and shout in a excited voice "FINISHED, is dinner ready"?
  14. I get the bus and train to work every day, I noticed today on the bus....every single person was looking at their mobile. No free papers or paid papers being read, no magazines just mobiles. No one even looking out the windows. Do we really need the windows any more ? No one uses them.
  15. Question :- Are films dead or in the process of dying? At the moment I am watching, Dexter, Homeland, Criminal minds, Terra nova, Walking Dead, Person of interest, American horror story, Grimm + Basically the whole crime and investigation network. Compared to films the above on average kill films IMO. Even if I had a right nice film ready to watch I would never watch it before a Dexter or Homeland, no way at all. This is recent behaviour and I put it down to the unfortunate fact that most films these days are ill conceived play to the masses crap. Rise of the apes is a good example, what a load of family based tat, I thought the film was going to start AFTER the bridge bit but Oh no, at least Walking Dead had a clue to start with, this had no clue or money to spend by the looks of it.
  16. I am loving that programme, proper funny. Can't think of a down side to it really, it's as sick a programme as you can find. If anyone has not seen it then get on it, if only for the maid (2 eyed version obviously, every house should have one one of them). I don't have any real attachment to any of the characters strangely enough, I want them all to die to be honest but in a nice funny way. Love the intro also, now that's how to start a programme. 9 out of 10 so far.
  17. I was here for the switch from Guilders to Euro. Unbelievable to have actually lived through something like that but the bit that everyone seems to forget is that at the time nobody wanted to go to it, especially in Holland. What we thought would happen did and confidence in it has never been there. The day after the change I went from having too much money each month, I could not spend it all to having absolutely nothing. It seems the shops worked out that by just changing the symbol and leaving the price the same was a gamble worth doing if they all did it. Evil idea created by evil rich people for no real gain, only pain.
  18. Who the hell has a windows mobile phone? I thought they were the equivalent of betamax... On the upside, users can park nearer the shops for free in special car park spaces.
  19. I would never say I was British if asked, bit like saying I have a Ferrari but there is are quite a few Skoda parts implemented.
  20. Lol. All his best signings have been sold. We are much worse off without O'Neill. The evidence since he left proves this beyond any dispute. I suppose the way MON was immediately snapped up by the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea jobs confirms that. If he was shit he would have sat in his arse for a while waiting for the right big job to come along at a nothing relegation threatened club up by Scotland. The evidence since he left proves this beyond any dispute I think you need a reality check.
  21. The memories and re-writing of the MON era is proper funny. People would like to believe MON was the messiah and he got sacked / left because the little plucky guy was standing up to the owner. Don't buy it and never will, anyone could have got 6th with the money he wasted and yes I realise we are currently living in his fantastic legacy he left us with the Villa park engraver having RSI tests and treatment and all his signings just keep on giving.... It's as simple as he got found out, he is no better than an alladyce or Souness in reality. If people think it was about Parker and Bent, you are in a dream world. It was more likely Titus Bramble and Steve Marlet on 45 k a week each for 4 years.
  22. People can say what they like about Houllier and waving and talking about X,Y, and Z. All I care about is what happens on the green stuff, considering his short time at the Villa I could see good signs in the basic stuff we were playing and there was a real improvement in passing and movement, especially with some of the kids. MON and Mcleish are not fit to change Houllier's drip IMO.
  23. You will never realise how lucky you are to be English until you leave strangely enough. Once you live and work in another country (in my case 25 % + of my life) you will understand. I am proud to be English and even after all this time away, people can tell I am English before they even speak to me (First try with a stranger is always English with me but Dutch with my Mrs). Not sure why this is as it's a bit odd.
  24. Isn't that normal for continentals? International companies (Vodafone eg) use the correct way. Even the Dutch Vodafone. They give xmas presents on the 5th December ffs so normal is not really a Dutch thing.
