  1. Started "Snow Crash" yesterday. First book from this author as recommended on here so we will see. Good so far.
  2. Totally agree. They seem to me to try to come across like they care but I truly believe the more pain and blood the happier the press are. I always wondered about 11/09/01, would a journalist have stopped it even if they knew 24 hours beforehand ? The phone hacking shows the type of people they are but how far is too far for them do you think ?
  3. Love that Bentley, what a car.
  4. I love watching series but I like sharing the good ones even better..... Let me know what you think !
  5. Anyone seen "The River" ? Watched part 1 and 2 last night. Basically they are trying to find a missing explorer type bloke in the amazon. Watch it in the dark also and loud :-) 9.5 out of 10 for both episodes. If you have a real good Home Theatre system then this is for you also as it's in the jungle so real amazing sounds from all over the place.
  6. Flew back to Holland last night, got on the bus from Schipol to Haarlem (Bendy bus). My pet hates on buses is people who are loud, put bags on seats etc. so.... On the back of the bus last night were 2 couples (mid 20's). Obviously been to Spain on Holiday. They were acting like children and messing about but were using about 8 seats worth of space. By the time we got to Haarlem there was only me and them behind me(full bus at start). Pulled in the station, ninety degree turn, SMASH. 2 of the plastic bags that were on the seat went sliding off and at least 5 bottles of perufme / after shave type stuff went all over the place. It's seems that they all had 2 mobiles and the birds could not look and hold onto all the bags at the same time. I stood up and calmly got of the bus just as the putrid mix of smells and liquid all ran forward up the bus in a mouse sized tsunami of cheap tat, it rolled it's way towards me, it was 2 mm away from my shoe as I stepped of the bus. One the the birds said "Is it broke ?" as glass was sliding around the back of the bus
  7. Nothing like having the VT to myself, that's quite nice I suppose. Does it cheer me up though hmmmm. Not quite as much as the link above but never mind.
  8. Bit of a weird one, still at work currently, been here since 07:45 am (09/02/11) and I am still at my desk (servers upgrade and stuff). Now that don't make me smile but watching almost everything that contains Frankie Boyle on You Tube for the last 3 hours certainly did. Never laughed so much ever, genius.
  9. Ha ha, Just went to look and yes, you have let yourself down, your family and basically anyone who knows you They jumped all over that and someone really did not like it.
  10. I really did post something quite serious in there and my the reply I got contained 10 + emotion faces so I know enough. Can't we have a +25 year old section ?
  11. Yep, you'll get abused! I just posted in the AM thread so I won't be around for long now As long as they tell me when to be scared that's half the battle.
  12. Maybe he is on that road now for all we know. Football is a funny game, teams / tactics / players can just click for no apparent reason and the bad times are soon forgotten. Supporting the Villa has always been like this and I suspect always will be so I have reconciled that with myself. We could all make ourselves a lot happier supporting other teams that win but we don't. We have no real influence on what happens down there unless 25 k have the exact same POV, history proves this I think. Don't forget the game is English, it's out game and after all that we know about football the FA can't even pick the right manager after 40 + years, yes we have been desperately unlucky to get MOn, GH and AMC in a row but what can we do ? Well you don't give yourself a starting chance as a club when you appoint a manager based on 'Premiership experience' when that experience consists of doing shite and relegation. We're a mirror image of Birmingham stat wise so far. To be in bottom half of league at this stage with this squad (despite its faults) is unacceptable. McLeish was and is a terrible appointment and almost certainly a detrimental one - both short term and longterm. What a manager has done beforehand is no measure of what he will do. Capello for example was as far as I know one of the most qualified people on the planet to be England manager, I genuinely could have done a better job myself at the World Cup.

  14. Well I just asked a pretty balanced question about the protests so we will see.
  15. Just read the last 2 pages, I am on the verge of self harm. I might post in the mcleish thread that he is doing OK and he needs more time just for a laugh.
  16. OK, I have a simple question. A protest works I suppose if you get exactly what you want changed, well changed. So let's pretend half way thorough the protest someone comes out the Villa and says "You know what, you are all right and we are wrong" What would happen ? What would the demands be ? (I am neither a rabid dog for or against the protests but like any protests or hostage situation there are always demands as a rule)
  17. I am in my 2nd season on FM12, what a truly amazing piece of software. It's brilliant.
  18. My Mrs actually tells me if I miss a fit one walking on the beech or similar. It's one thing getting your mates to do it but you need to get to this stage for Extreme manliness.r
  19. What was that car ? I drove one a few times, the wheel was kinda unforgettable......was it the big Rover 3500 VDP or something ? Rover rings a bell, I have invented a square wheel sounds like Longbridge to me.
  20. I don't think I will recover from seeing a Maestro / Montego dna splice. I know both of these cars very well and I actually was given a Maestro (VDP) for nothing once. This was the one that talked to you, I had it for 4 weeks: I lost the metal sunroof on the Aston Expressway at 65 mph (or warp speed) I lost something off the car almost every day. The thing would not shut the F*** up. The electric windows went down OK, but I had to push them up with my hand. After 4 weeks the drive shaft fell into 2 pieces 40 metres from work, the people who gave it me so I pushed it back and gave keys in. Montego 2.0l ( I drove about 10,000 miles in this for work) - This was a massive car of epic proportions It used about 4 litres of petrol to get to 5 th gear I could turn the wheel 70-80 degrees before the steering kicked in. The older it got the higher the suspension went. It was a nice colour, hearing aid beige I think it's called. It was surprisingly fast but id not like slowing down much, so much so it shook in an angry way if attempted too quick. Those were the days.
  21. I think that's basically the problem. If the Prem years are all you have seen then I would be the same I suspect. impatience & doom mongering are always going to appear because they have never really seen the team go from nothing to something (eg 1977 - 1981). History shows it was done once but we know it will never happen again adn even if it does via a billionaire is it worth 10 % of the achievements in older times, I think not.
  22. It would be great and could all be achieved in a tiny room 5 mtrs. x 5 mtrs. (You do know they are all midgets*, the people you speak about in your post ?) I found it easier to understand the anger and lack of tactical knowledge. If I had spent 20 mins writing how everything is rubbish and then to have to ask someone to help me down of the chair I would be pissed off as well. Cut them a bit of slack, as much as you can so they can reach it) * Could be made up
  23. Forrest Gump, hmmmm. So what we are looking for is a American guy who buys a business he knows **** all about, something like shrimp fishing or football or something similar & has no real interest in how it performs or what he bought it for except Bubba convinced him he was onto a winner?
