  1. I was thinking, ok 1 down but ages to go, we can still win this 3-1. I think I was on my own in that radical thinking.
  2. + if you can bet on it. Snooker + pool are defo sports. Purely because of the time to get good at them and stay there.
  3. It must be Hell only having 10 bank holidays this year? :? If they fall on a Saturday and Sunday then we lose them + they are all used by April, so from then to end of year F All. What's the point of having a Wednesday or Thursday as a bank holiday ? How is it 10 anyway, I thought it was 8.
  4. I am at work today because the Dutch refuse to grasp the concept that a Sunday does not count as a bank holiday. They are clueless when it comes to things like this.
  5. Question... Do leading economists even exist, if you are a leader in that field surely you make a billion and leave it. "Leading" comes across as "knows what's around the corner". If that is so and they are so great why don't they re mortgage all they own and play the market ?
  6. ^^^Nice one. I will make sure I find the best order to read. thx
  7. Oh yes. **** GRRREEEAAAAAAT book. When you've finished it, start immediately on The Baroque Cycle (a trilogy, first book is "Quicksilver"). Sort of a prequel to Cryptonomicon, but that doesn't do it justice - it's even better. A sort of 17th Century alternative history, but... **** it, just read it. Got all his books over xmas so I have a lot of reading to do.
  8. I agree with that but the most frustrating thing was that with the resources he had at his disposal he should have done a lot better. It was our best chance for a generation and he blew it. At the time 4th would have been minimum to expect considering the problems some of the big teams were having. It was basically an open goal for a few seasons. We had a team with Heskey in it ffs.
  9. You ever seen the film Decent ? Not such a good idea then ? Just let the people decide, that's only fair. Unless the is a War Crimes commission that can decide where the crimes are against your own people.
  10. I used to love NYE but the reasons to stay in out way the going out these days. (They are obsessed with fireworks over here on NYE, and I mean obsessed. I know a few people who have driven to Belgium and Poland to get non approved fireworks. It's the blokes not the kids in the main also. Absolute child minded idiots the lot of them. Nothing makes a Dutch guy prouder than creating a 1 ft hole in the road with a firework. C**TS the lot of them. + My dog cries and barks for 10 hours (They start at about 3.00pm), I can't even go to the window to watch as my dog then loses his mind if I go to close to the edge of my house. In the middle on the sofa OK, move to the edge NO GOOD...ABORT ABORT Paying top dollar for everything and not knowing if and when you can get a taxi, tickets for Pubs ffs. The list is endless now. I suppose after the millennium NYE, everything is a bit meh anyway.
  11. Amazing isn't it ! People think he's just the best manager going, but they really don't get it. Good job he left us a legacy that just keeps on giving minute by minute. As you say, he will be at Barca soon.
  12. Correct to do so, it's in the small print anyway.
  13. This and Peter Kay Peter Kay is quite good IMO, if you ever see his stand up about Weddings. Proper funny that is. Michael McIntyre, I am a lot funnier than he is. If he told the jokes in a normal voice as oppose to the small heath squeal he uses they are not actually jokes. Just a dull bloke going on about family stuff.
  14. This says it all really, the Villa have an absolute obsession with average. Managers, players and behind the scenes. Almost quite good collectively on paper I suppose but just not quite good enough. The MON thing does my head in also, he is regarded as a messiah but he was nothing more than a bloke who could get a Skoda to drive a little bit like Ford Focus for a very shourt time. Big wow. How about we get quality players who can erm...you know just play ? Why make it difficult ? If the manager just has to pick tactics, formation and set pieces it's not that hard. Add the get shit to look like gold element then we are never going to get anywhere. If we are getting players to play past their natural ability all the time then things break or have individual errors or get sent off etc.....
  15. I promised the wife that at some point (seeing as I got it for her) we should watch "Bridesmaids". The "We" is down to the deal she watches the films I pic and vica verca. This was her time.... Not as bad as I thought, 2 hours was a stretch and the joke really is on women to be fair. It's more of a documentary on how shallow birds are when it comes to Weddings, friends and life in general IMO. All the screaming when they see a mate they have not seen since Wednesday and so on. 5/10 - The food poisoning bit was super funny though.
  16. She should be allowed to get the funeral that she deserves as decided by a majority. Not sure how that would pan out for her.
  17. That's me that is and yes I used to love that film, Professor Falcon and all that jazz. How about a nice game of Intercontinental thermo nuclear war, but chess is nice also.
  18. I used to mess about with it before the WWW address. Used to dial into bulletin boards using a old IBM pc and a 14.4 modem. I did not care what was on it, it was the fact that I managed to do on my own that I was happy about. No mouse either :-) I was very young at the time and had no idea what I was doing, it was working fine though, the phone bills told me that. God knows what year that was but long ago I suspect.
  19. I suppose so but we have all sorts of threads (relationship advice, break ups, depression, etc). They could all call Samaritans but the cosy VT club is sometimes better for things. Dunno, typing a lot of bolox today. (But in a nice way). VT has helped me with loads of problems over the years + need someone (everyone in the thread in reality) to check your CV and tell you it's utter bolox mate but then help you in fixing VT is the place.
  20. Should we not have a "I want a job in Industry X and I live near Y "thread. Mate of a mate knows a go who needs a guy to do Z. Just a thought, we have loads of VT people who all know a lot of people and 6 degrees of separation and all that. + it would be nice to see when people land a nice job, even better if VT helped.
  21. Hold on Hold on, that's just registered (and not the register in question above). A park and ride in Canterbury, are you sure ? Is the traffic like Shanghai on a bad day then ? I have a visions of it been like Bladerunner Los Angeles now. You sure it's not the Ring and Ride for the old people and those "Special" papers are just coupons out of the local paper. (50% off Varicose veins re-routing and the like ?)
  22. Actually no. I use Canterbury Park and Ride to get to court. I put all my papers and stuff on the seat next to me so as not to have it sliding around the bus. I would however move for an old person - but don't **** with my documents. I can understand that if they are important docs and stuff but your normal everyday "my bags important, it's got my sandwiches in" fukfaces can go die IMO. The people who use public transport in Holland are mental anyway, they all fight to get on the bus just in case there is no seat. 30 people waiting, bus has 50 odd seats (bendy bus) or when they crowd the train doors so you can't get off (I solved that by walking straight ahead no matter what is in the way.
