  1. If you go down needing treatment, you should have a mandatory 2 minutes off the field of play just to make sure you really are ok to continue. If you voluntarily leave the field of play for treatment, then you Don not have the mandatory 2 minutes. Problem solved.
  2. Being a retired footballer does not make you an expert with regards to how light travels.
  3. In THAT picture it is possibly debatable that the ball is over the line (although I would say not) Once corrected for parallax error, the ball will only get closer to the line. The whole ball is not over the line. The problem is not helped by pundits and retired referees that do not understand the principles of physics making out they’re experts and giving out false information on television.
  4. Is that you in the photo @JAMAICAN-VILLAN?
  5. When did I say it was mean to call me out on it? Some people can’t read. Call me out on it. I completely expected to be called out on it. Just don’t doctor what I’m saying. For those that have difficulty in grasping basic concepts: 1) Encouraging the Qatari’s to be more accepting of all people no matter what their colour creed or preference is absolutely a must and I support that. 2) I would encourage the SAME enthusiasm with which you are condemning the hosts of this World Cup for their shortcomings, in condemning for the hosts of the NEXT World Cup for THEIR shortcomings. No supporting dictators. No accepting of discrimination. Nothing. I have zero affiliation with Qatar. I just find hypocrisy intolerable. Just a good old ‘what’s good for the goose, is good for the gander.’ If you think I need protecting from my opinion, or that that opinion needs ‘calling out’ then that’s your shortcoming, not mine.
  6. ‘ don’t like gay people being persecuted’ Bobzy’s way of quoting: ’I don’t like gay people’ and claims he quoted someone exactly as it was typed out. yeah, nice one. ‘Pal.’
  7. I think you’ll find you missed out the part ‘compared to…’
  8. Oh right, so now we’re misquoting are we? chopping of bits of sentences are we? Putting on laughing emojis to ridicule someone after doctoring their quotes are we?
  9. Thank you. You just proved my point about western brainwashing. 700+ detainees were released without charge after over a decade of illegal imprisonment. This means they were NOT terrorists. They were held based on no evidence, tortured, and released with no charges after YEARS of imprisonment. Did YOU just compare gay people allegedly not being able to attend a football game to someone being imprisoned and tortured for no reason? Whataboutism - there it is. Was waiting for this. The world that is immediately reached for by people wanting to criticise others and not wishing to be criticised themselves. The tool of the prejudiced to hide their prejudice behind. ‘Stop eating the cookies steve.’ ‘But Dave, Ralph and John are eating cookies, and you’re handing them out!’ ’Whataboutism. We’re not talking about them, we’re talking about you!’ ’So you gonna stop them?’ ’you’re a whataboutist.’ ’well, are you?’ ’Total whataboutery.’ At what point did I say that bring a woman or being gay is the same as smoking weed or being a prostitute? Do YOU need explaining what is meant by having laws that other countries may find backwards? Not comparing.
  10. What a shit place to be. But just remind him that if he thinks QPR have it bad, that we had both these clowns at our club at the same time.
  11. Utter nonsense. You show me the law that says if you’re gay you can’t attend FIFA World Cup matches. (ie the law has nothing to do with football) Can the detainees at Guantanamo Bay get to the World Cup games in 2026? You know, the ones that have been held illegally without charge or fair trial or access to lawyers, and a total disregard for their human rights for 20 years? No? Then how about you start questioning awarding the next World Cup to North America - a country with known human rights abuses and war crimes for decades. Or does that not fit your narrative that was fed to you by the western press? Qatar is a country that doesn’t burden its citizens with crippling taxes (income tax of 0% vs 45% here), has some of the lowest crime rates in the world, free (or atleast heavily subsidised) access to health care (vs USA) Yes they have some catching up to do when it comes to LGBT rights, but that’s minor compared to the shit that our American friends and our own corrupt leadership get up to. RE: [i'm sure i could read through the laws of every country in the world and find some i disagree with. this isn't the point here.] But that’s EXACTLY the point though, isn’t it? You’re saying that the World Cup shouldn’t be held there because you don’t agree with their law. Yet it’s ok for the World Cup to be held in the USA because their actions are not relevant to their suitability in hosting a World Cup? Where are the endless TV documentaries about the American child marriage laws? Or their human rights abuses? Or their corrupt politicians? Or their proxy wars? Or does that not meet the British press agenda? Will there be an interview with Southgate about what he thinks about their abortion laws or Gun laws? Will the england team pretend they want to wear armbands in support of the Guantanamo Prisoners, only to u-turn at the last minute and blame the threat imposed on them by the US government? I won’t hold my breath waiting for your critical comments about them in 2026.
  12. You don’t get fined for taking your kids out of private schools during term time.
  13. Lol, good point. I just find the whole ‘holier than thou’ argument tiresome. What if the Germans had made a huge issue about the Euros being held in England because of our backward attitudes to prostitution? Do you remember the constant talk about that when we held the Euros? Arm bands being worn in solidarity for the prostitutes living under draconian laws? No? Of course not. Or the Dutch saying the Euros should not be held somewhere where Cannabis is illegal? Isn’t it a human right to be able to consume what you wish if you are a consenting adult? Let me remind you that the next World Cup is in USA again, so let’s see our manager and FA are going to wear close ‘Guantanamo bay armbands’, and give ‘end child marriage’ interviews, and we can count the number of posts on here ‘condemning’ the decision to award the World Cup to country with flagrant human rights abuses. Leave the politics out of football, or there will be no World Cup. The number of lives we affected/destroyed by our illegal invasion of iraq will dwarf any accusation we can throw at the Qataris, so how about we get the **** off our high horse? And let me remind you, it was the BRITISH that introduced anti-gay laws in many of the countries where it is still illegal in the first damn place. /rant.
  14. Yet you didn’t mind much when it was held in the USA, where paedophilia is legal, but abortion isn’t? https://populationmatters.org/news/2021/04/child-marriage-in-the-us-where-is-the-outrage/
  15. Ok. I can’t agree with what you endorse.
  16. if you go through player threads, I think you’ll find that in general any signing we make is given a decent welcome. It’s only when they turn out to be duds do we get arsey. So I can’t agree with what you say.

    Robin Olsen

I don’t think anyone was favourably comparing that performance to Emi’s. I think someone merely pointed out that EMI made a similar mistake with passing out to a player but misplacing the pass that then directly led to a goal. 2 games in a row we’ve conceded a completely unnecessary goal through overplaying it. The only difference between the two is that we beat Brighton. I think the conclusion drawn was that Olsen was ostracised because he was Olsen. I actually disagree - he was ostracised because we lost. (He cost us the game). We lose to Brighton and Emi would’ve (rightly) got abuse. I dont like the tactic. Doing it with well-practiced keepers is risky, but may have it’s merits. Doing it with keepers who are not well practiced is just suicide.

    Unai Emery

Emery is like a chess grandmaster Gerrard wants to know if how come a horsey can jump over a castle…?
  19. A ‘world class’ player in the championship that got 6 goals and 7 assists in 3000 minutes of football that ‘single-handedly’ dragged us up into the premier league. A true world class attacking midfielder would have got 3 times that goal contribution tally in the championship. Have a word with yourselves.

I’m beyond caring about honour. Being nice gets you nowhere. If I was in charge I’d have the referee asking the players what happened before making the decision. After the game, if a player was found to be lying, ban him for 15 games. But, until they start to punish ‘cheating’ retrospectively, cheat as much as possible (ie the same as everyone else)

    Robin Olsen

I think he’s pointing out that Martinez made practically the same mistake today, but will escape any criticism. Martinez has plenty of credit in the bank to be forgiven a mistake here and there, Olsen as yet does not.

I honestly believe if we put our strongest team out we beat them. I get the whole need to assess the squad, but the confidence we would have gained from beating Man Utd twice in a week would have been invaluable. But for the worst keeper in the world, we had them beat even with several changes. I wish he’d really gone for the jugular.

Even that Bunn fella. I’d rather bring him back.
