  1. Historically whenever we’ve started to get praise in the media, we’ve gone shit. I’d rather stay off the radar
  2. I might be wrong, but from that picture it looks like they Perisic was onside even if Young was in the right place - so he did brilliantly to spot the run and do what he did.
  3. Why is Arab money ‘blood’ money, but all other money ‘normal’ money?
  4. With Emery you can bet your life it was a thought out decision rather than a tally of eye contacts in the previous week.

    Unai Emery

Too busy looking for eye contact.
  6. We’re a squad. We need excellent players throughout. He’s here, and clearly has quality. I don’t know why some are so eager to push him out. Give the guy a chance. Lets see what he can do where the match instruction isn’t to wait for moment of magic to happen. We’re finally pro-active about creating opportunities for moments of magic. He will thrive soon.
  7. Would have loved to have seen his reaction to them winning it.

Our players are not up to speed with the system yet. The problem is, until you practice something you can’t get good at it. Until you trial something you can’t find it’s flaws. We need to be patient. Emery has proved time and time again he’s capable of success. I just hope we give him all the support and time that is needed to transition. If that means losing goals because of playing a high line, losing goals because the goalie can’t pass in a straight line, losing goals because our midfielders lose the ball cheaply… then so be it. In time we will see who is capable of adapting to the style, and who needs replacing. I enjoyed the liverpool game. I can see progress already. We create chances, and we’re enjoyable to watch. Please let’s not get carried away with unrealistic expectations, and drive away the best manager we possibly could have attracted by becoming frustrated too quickly. Let’s get a system and style in place, and improve the components gradually over time. Soon we’ll reap the benefits of being in a position where we are not reliant on individuals. If someone comes and buys a star for £100m, we won’t fall apart. We’ll just replace him with a similar player for 1/10th of the cost and our team will not be affected. We need a system, THEN we need to best possible players for that system
  9. Yh, well, funny that. When I was interested on your thoughts about whether the Americans should be allowed to host the next World Cup because of their **** up child marriage laws… you guys were ‘bowing out.‘ leaving me to die on some **** up hill. Not interested in starting it all up again or pointing fingers at individuals. So I’ll just edit my post, and leave it at that. my turn to bow out of this conversation.
  10. Absolutely right. And equally, if you’re going to post prejudiced views in the Qatar WC thread, expect them to be challenged. Although one point I would dispute is that you can’t take for granted that some posters have ever criticised the UK or US over their policies, and even if they do - they would always stop short of putting sanctions on them. [edit]
  11. Head and shoulders above everyone else.
  12. I’m his biggest fan. but he was awful today.
  13. If we win 7-0 we go above Chelsea! come on!
  14. probably just trying to replicate his tactics team talks
  15. Yes. You’re right. But it still isn’t illegal for you to exist. What you describe is bad enough, and is so much more powerful than clichéd hyperbole There is no need to exaggerate it. You STILL don’t understand the hill I’m on. I’m not trying to defend the Qataris stance on homosexuality. This whole debate started after I asked why the states were not being criticised in the same way. For the UPTEENTH time: IF YOU ARE GOING TO CRITICISE THE AWARDING OF THE WORLD CUP TO QATAR BASED ON A **** UP LAW, BUT ARE QUITE HAPPY TO ACCEPT THE NEXT WORLD CUP IN AMERICA WHERE THEIR LAW ALLOWS LEGAL PAEDOPHILIA, THEN THE ONLY EXPLANATION IS THAT YOU ARE PREJUDICED. That’s my hill. Thats the point where I started. But I get accused of ‘whataboutism’ and you conveniently don’t answer my question by ‘bowing out’ because I have a very ‘odd hill to die on’. So let me ask YOU, @bobzy, directly. Do you have a problem with the United States co-hosting the next World Cup?
  16. Woah! When did I not accept that this wasn’t an expensive World Cup? Of course it was. That’s irrefutable fact. Ticket prices were 50% higher than they were in even in Russia. What I’m saying is that you say it became inaccessible to the ‘vast majority of the world population’ on THIS occasion - it was already inaccessible to the ‘vast majority’ of the worlds population back in Russia. maybe it became inaccessible to an even greater percentage- but prob 80% of the world population already couldn’t dream of reaching a World Cup game even if it was in their own home town! Lets not pretend the ‘vast majority’ got priced out only now - which is what you implied.
  17. The ‘vast majority’ of the worlds population haven’t been able to afford getting to the World Cup since it first began. You do know that the ‘vast majority’ of the worlds population live on under $5.50 per day? I think they’ve got bigger things to worry about than if they can afford to watch a game of football, and whether it should be in the winter or summer, or if Harry Kane can wear his rainbow armband. Market forces is not Qatars fault.
  18. Quite a few of my friends attended. They’re not rich. I suppose ‘rich’ is a relative term though. From the corruption point of view I agree. It horrible to think that EVERYTHING is for sale. But out of interest, who do you think should have got it? Bidders: Australia Japan South Korea USA Qatar
  19. Lol! IM the brainwashed one lol yh, you’re the one saying a country that just hosted a successful World Cup was ‘entirely unsuited’ You need to pick your hills better. please do bow out.
  20. You’ll say what exactly again and again and again? A country that just did a fantastic job of hosting a World Cup was ‘entirely’ unsuitable to hosting a World Cup? One of the safest, cleanest, and well organised world cups to have taken place, but you still hold the view that they were entirely unsuited? A summer event? By tradition, not by rule. In fact, the world cups are usually held at a time when the football season is over - ie conditions are no longer suitable for football to be played? Go figure. You saying again and again and again is what this entire debate is about - your prejudice towards the Qataris. They did a **** brilliant job in hosting the World Cup. Our politicians and media telling us how evil they are is more about their own worry about what we might see when we get there. A safe, clean society where citizens pay no tax - while our interest rates and mortgages and price of bread steadily push us into poverty. ’but, but, but… we’re inclusive! They’re EVIL!’ And boy do some people swallow the whole narrative without even thinking.
  21. Apologies I got mixed up with a different article. https://www.equalitynow.org/learn_more_child_marriage_us/ Quote: What is the “statutory rape exception”? Statutory rape is when one of the parties to sexual activity is below the age of consent. It does not have to be forcible, because a minor is not legally able to consent. 18 U.S.C. Section 2243(a), on the Sexual Abuse of a Minor, applies when a person “knowingly engages in a sexual act with another person” who is between the ages of 12 and 16 and is at least four years younger than the perpetrator. 18 U.S.C. Section 2243(c)(2) allows a defense to this crime when “the persons engaging in the sexual act were at that time married to each other.” This means that, at the federal level, child marriage is viewed as a valid defense to statutory rape. This law not only suggests that the federal government condones the practice of child marriage, it allows an adult to engage in sexual activity with children as young as 12, and gives sexual predators an incentive to force a child to marry them. The law can effectively turn child marriage into a “get out of jail free” card for predators. This law must be repealed. Repealing 18 U.S.C. § 2243(c)(2) is a simple, commonsense step towards aligning U.S. laws with international standards and discouraging child marriage and rape in the U.S.
  22. That’s the way the law makes you feel. Which is a horrible way for anyone to be made to feel, and is wrong. But it is NOT illegal for you to ‘exist’. You would be breaking the law if you had sexual relations with another man. So you could ‘exist’ and not have sex. I am NOT saying that that is ok before you jump down my throat. I’m just saying it’s NOT illegal to exist. Im not arguing AGAINST gay rights, I don’t understand why you guys just don’t get it. Im just sick of the constant criticism of Qatar and the blind eye to your mates across the Atlantic. Now why don’t YOU imagine you’re a 10 year old girl. And a 70 year old man applies to the court to marry you, and the court says ‘yes that’s fine, and perfectly legal.’ Getting **** by a 74 year old man time and time again when you’re 14 years old. Imagine a life like THAT, if YOU can. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/200-000-children-married-us-15-years-child-marriage-child-brides-new-jersey-chris-christie-a7830266.html
