  1. Yh. Villa 2015-2016. I think we all erased that from our memory
  2. Agreed. BUT, if we DID buy him.. then I would trust that he he was the best available option out there taking everything into account.
  3. He made 11 appearance on loan to them from wolves in 2022. Including the champions league and got 4 assists.
  4. Actually he didn’t. He said a player from a relegated team isn’t good enough. And separately, that Unai Emery wouldn’t be interested due to his defensive stats. Adama Traore was ‘good enough’ to play for Barcelona. (He wasn’t, and isn’t, but he did.) And what about the other players there? Gonna ignore them?
  5. People can think what they like. Doesn’t mean it’s not a ridiculous opinion - if it’s based purely on the bit in bold. players that have been relegated: 1. Roy Keane 2. Paolo Di Canio 3. Jack Grealish 4. Idrissa Gueye 5. Juninho 6. Adama Traore 7. Gareth Southgate 8. James Madison 9. Youri Tielemans. 10. JWP Off the top of my head in 2 minutes. Probably hundreds more. Englands no.1 keeper escaped by the skin of his teeth. Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano escaped on last day. Not long ago we survived on the last day. who would have said no to Jack Grealish if we’d have gone down? Mings, McGinn. An utterly bizarre way to think. ‘…a player from a relegated team isn’t good enough..’ edit: Adding more: Andy Robertson Kieran Trippier Georginio Wijnaldum Xerdan Shaqiri David James Michael Owen Rio Ferdinand Kevin Phillips Fabrizio Ravanelli Harry Maguire Scott Parker James Milner Joe Cole Michael Carrick Ian Harte Mark Viduka Trevor Sinclair
  6. People are absolutely entitled to think what they like. Just like people are entitled to think that other people’s opinions are not well founded. My actual point is that we would ONLY go for him if Emery is interested. If he’s not interested then there’s nothing to ‘worry’ about.
  7. I understand your sentiment, but you kind of contradict yourself here. What if Emery wants Harvey Barnes? Then what? Is he good enough then? IF we buy Barnes, it’ll be with Emery’s blessing, at the price we pay, for the contract we offer, after considering alternative options available at different prices and contract demands. And on a side note: Chelsea spent £88m on a player from ‘far and wide’. We spent £30m on a winger from ‘far and wide’. Barnes has more goals and tackles than the two of them combined. He has the same number of premier league goals as £80m Núñez and £47m Díaz of liverpool combined. He has more goal contributions than title winning £100m Jack Grealish. Just hold that thought for a minute. And tell me you’re NOT being snobbish.
  8. My my my. Talk about being proven a fraud of a manager. And to think that some posters on here were refusing to accept he was a problem and wanted to give him MORE time.
  9. Love that they went down. Bielsa had them playing much better than what they were. Sacking him was a mistake. Goodbye, you won’t be missed.
  10. Successful? the only thing Southgate is full of, is shit. (I just wanted to say that. I know what you mean)
  11. He’s right though. I mean how has punishing people ever helped them? What we should be doing is starting a kitty for him to help pay his gambling debts. While we’re at it, maybe we should be setting free all the paedos we got locked up. Maybe give them a job at the local primary schools to help rehabilitate them. What an utter tool.
  12. I suspect we were already aware that he wouldn’t be signing, and as such wanted to put it out there about how highly we valued him.
  13. Lol, I have a hard time believing it myself to be honest
  14. I think at the time it was reported that he would not sign for us unless we paid £100k per week. As with all things that are reported in the press, you have to take it all with a pinch of salt, but for example: https://www.birminghamworld.uk/sport/football/aston-villa/aston-villa-carney-chukwuemekas-huge-wage-demands-revealed-3778558 “The latest reports claim the midfielder has now rejected Villa’s contract offer amid talk of a sea of interest from home and abroad. According to Football Insider, Chukwuemeka wants as much as £100,000-per-week to sign a deal this summer.” https://www.spotrac.com/Premier League/chelsea-fc/carney-chukwuemeka-73194/#:~:text=Carney Chukwuemeka signed a 6,cap hit of £5%2C200%2C000. Reported £32m contract, £100k per week. I’m guessing that is more than Ollie Watkins, Mings, McGinn, and World Cup winner Martinez… for an 18yr old who quite frankly looked out of his depth (like you correctly point out that would be expected) in the few minutes that he had. If you google his wages, you’ll see loads of reports claiming the same. If those reports are accurate (which I concede may not be..) I think it’s disgusting, and Chelsea (not Carney) should be ashamed of themselves for ruining football. And for the good of football, I hope he has a failure of a career so that every other club learns a big lesson. I hope you agree.
  15. Isn’t that the entire point being made though? He had shown nothing in the senior game to suggest he was worth the price tag or the contract that he was demanding? He was an 18yr rookie old demanding the wages of a seasoned international. Somehow He managed to get them, I applaud his agent, and I applaud whoever managed to get £20m for him, and I laugh at Chelsea. He is MILES off starting for a competitive champions league team. I sincerely hope his career crashes and burns - not out of spite, but for the good of the game. Ultimately it is us (fans) that pay for his, and any other youth prospect with decent prospects £100k a week.
  16. Yh I just imagined it. With only 10 players behind the ball they’d have lost 6-0
  17. Can I have this weeks lottery numbers please?
  18. It’s very odd. Now I agree that he didn’t have one of his better games, BUT I think the fairest analysis is from the non biased view of the opposition. Reading the spurs game thread there were a couple of references: https://thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/aston-villa-vs-tottenham-hotspur-sat-13th-may-3pm.47989/page-33#post-3883583 ‘The difference between the sides is Buendia. I'm sitting up high in the stand here’ https://thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/aston-villa-vs-tottenham-hotspur-sat-13th-may-3pm.47989/page-38#post-3883691 ‘Buendia is class’ Not bad for someone who was ‘poor again today’
  19. It was a penalty from the contact point of view what I’m more interested is how come they didn’t show the possible offside in the build up?
  20. Thug

    Tyrone Mings

But you know Southgate will pick Maguire instead.
  21. I didn’t watch the interview, but think he has a stammer.
