  1. The pair of you make decent points. We never replaced grealish’s position. But getting rid of a player that had scored or assisted 13 goals, and another player that had scored 10 ‘just because’ was a Gerrardism. Im glad Traore is back. Should never have been loaned out in the first place until we knew Bailey was fully settled in. Gerrard should be shot for many things, this was another.
  2. My memory of him at Arsenal was thinking ‘**** me, David Luiz is **** brilliant!’
  3. Nothing. I’d just look him in the eye. oh wait, wrong manager.
  4. Those who live in the world of risk mitigation are never happy. There is always a risk. Yes, it’s a risky game. That we’re playing, not denying that at all. Probably should’ve had a player lined up to replace Ings. But MAYBE they believe that in the event of something happening to Watkins, we have enough in the squad to cover for a few months. Maybe they feel that is less risky than buying one of the players available at double their normal cost. If we can get a loan in that is better than what we have available already, I’m sure we will. But no Coutinhos, and No Baston’s please.
  5. Exactly. Short term thinking led to Coutinho and Digne and Ings. Luckily Ings was good enough to off load without taking too much of a hit. Not so sure we’ll have the same luck with the other two.
  6. Not yet. it’ll only be wrong if it proves to be detrimental. For now, it is neither right nor wrong.
  7. Not at all. I would suggest that if there was an option that wasn’t pants and available, we would take it? Maybe the options available are not considered worthy. Maybe we have a very good deal agreed for the summer? If you go to a bar looking for company, and all that’s there is 2 old ugly birds, do you take one home? Or do u come back next weekend?
  8. I’ll not argue against that. But to loan someone you need them to be available. Baston?
  9. Not like Ollie scores a shit load tho is it?
  10. And who’s gonna pay player X’s wages for the next 5 years when we don’t want him any more because he wasn’t actually what we wanted in the first place? There’s two sides to every coin my friend.
  11. Relax people, relax. We are fine. Trust the process. Let’s not wish for more shitty contracts being dished out to shitty players. Let’s just wait and see what happens. NSWE went out and got us an Elite manager. Elite players will follow. If not now, then in the summer. Anyway, all the cashiers are probably just busy taking Chelsea’s orders.
  12. Nobody should buy any chelsea player.
  13. Don’t be ridiculous. Everyone knows paydays are Tuesdays. That’s why we buy on Wednesdays. oh… wait…
  14. Should’ve kept Gerrard on as an ambassador. Send him round to get players to sign.
  15. Bed wetting opinion. I have no reasoned argument. *grabs popcorn and waits for @HKP90 to lose his shit *
  16. I can’t disagree with you, but I’m just looking at it in the longer term. We need to get the players we want rather than panic buying. I really hope we pull off a couple of deals before the deadline, but I want them to be prime targets. We’ve been stuck with average players before, so no more of that please. If we bring in players, they need to be better than what we let go, or just not bother.
  17. like I said before, even if we sign nobody, I’m relaxed - write the season off and get the players we want in the summer. obviously would be happier if we bought some, but not the end of the world for me. In it for the long game for once.
  18. 1) If we didn’t have money, we wouldn’t have gone out to get Emery. We were in the shit and Emery was having a good time. Why ditch that gig to come here without reassurances? 2) This is likely very true. And hence why we’re probably going to be signing on deadline day as good players generally like to weigh up all possible offers before making a choice. Unfortunately this is we are at at the moment. Feeding off scraps from the big table. But rather this than signing a player that no one else wants, no?
  19. Trust the process chappy. Even if we get no one in, I won’t be upset. Sometimes you need to have a good clear out and start from the beginning. If we have to wait until the summer to get option A, then rather that than splurge a load of cash on option b/c/d who we then need to move on again. We’re not going down, and Europe is a tough ask. I’m completely chilled. Let Emery do his work.
  20. If we sign nobody, I shall apologise on behalf of Aston Villa to you. Twice.
  21. I think all failed medicals happen in that order. What order would you expect them to occur in? What player would go for a medical with another team without having a concrete offer on the table?
  22. Rather have 3 points against the likes of Norwich. West Ham were in a European final last year. Can you ever see us missing out in a player to Norwich? Or Bournemouth? Europe and London could swing a player towards West Ham though.
  23. Only logical answer is West Ham going down. They have spent £180m this season. That’s some spending power.
