Half their fan base had already made their mind up that they didn’t want him. Like they could get Poch or something. Now Wagner, who also got promotion previously is not good enough. Farke wasn’t good enough. Who do they expect?

How on earth they expected him to keep them up was baffling. When they went down, they had (and still have) a shit mid table squad. They thought that squad was good enough for automatic promotion. They think that because (wait for it) the bookies had them favourites for automatic promotion. Did they check Chelsea’s odds for winning the league at the beginning of the season? When Smith dropped down to 5th, they had their pitchforks out. They got their way. And now they’re 10th. They really don’t belong in the premier league, they don’t have the financial muscle for it. We look so well drilled. Watkins, finishing and awareness improved. Mings, passing improved. Digne has improved into a Moreno McGinn looks like McGinn of old But the MOST noticeable improvement has to be Martinez’s passing. It’s almost as though someone FINALLY thought to look at the weaknesses of our players and work on those. So simple, yet no one seemed to manage it before Unai.

Chap, Smith was BRILLIANT for us. The immediate impact he had on the team was nothing short of miraculous. As with everything, things need to be freshened up once in a while. His time with us came to an end, and it was time to move on. Changing him wasn’t the mistake. Changing him for a rookie manager with an Ego bigger than his managerial CV was the mistake. Unai Emery isn’t just a step up, it’s a leap up, and everyone knows that. Could’ve predicted it to be the case as soon as it was announced. But the amount of disrespect you’re giving to a manager who won 10 games in a row, and got us immediate promotion, and then kept us up against all odds, and then performed well, only to be sacked after a 5 game losing streak which included some of the best teams in the league… is just ridiculous. We reached heights in term of sheer excitement under smith, that we have yet to do under Emery - which we will do in due course I’m sure. But a little respect for the man who got us to the place where we could even dream of attracting someone like Emery wouldn’t go amiss.

I really want them to stay up, same with Leicester. Rather the midlands became a hotbed of football and get rid of some london teams
