  1. Their approach to training football coaches also differs quite a bit from many other European countries. I highly recommend the book 'Mensch' for more insight. It's no coincidence German coaches are among the best in the world currently.
  2. This is legit a better suggestion than the actual one.

I think the last thing the PL need is more US-inspired spectacles such as 'all star games' or things like it. As an avid hockey fan, it's one thing I never watch during the NHL season.
  4. Yeah, exact same here, working mostly from home so monitor 3 has been F1 Manager. Well, home sick now so switching between Cyberpunk and F1 currently. But yeah, they created a very good plattform for building on with this first installment. Really addictive.
  5. Well, I finally got this. More than half off but turns out it was for some sort of physical media, so weirdly enough I am waiting for its delivery later today. I am looking forward to trying it out now that 1.6 is out. Only remains to be seen if my 1060 can handle it. I got myself a new 3060ti, but it unfortunately has to go back as it seems to be broken. Might order another card if the game is any good.
  6. I did the same the first few races. Ran them in real time. Really immersive stuff.
  7. A bit too well with Alfa Romeo to be honest! I swapped PU early and managed to get Bottas a win or two until the others caught up. Currently we are subscribed to P5 and P8, which is better that IRL tbf. It's a really fun game, isn't it?
  8. Really? He comes across as quite relaxed and not all as as superstarily bland in the interviews I've read and seen? He areally has a bit of bite sometimes as well as a bit of tounge in cheek. One of the more interesting characters IMo, while good ol' Jack is a bit of a bimbo really. But yeah, maybe that actually is more marketable come to think of it.

Nail on head. At this point we'd probably be better off **** off the top teams to a so called Super League. Problem is, that would most likely kill the Premier League and other top domestic competitions completely as TV money, fan interest and everything else gets re-routed to that new shiny thing instead. After all, that will be where all the cool teams are that kids love. It's a really sad state of affairs, and there really isn't much competition to be had any longer. If one top club fails to reach the CL, they'll still be able to spend amounts the rest of us could only dream about, and all the top players care about is the CL. No-one is really interested in joining a 'project' since players are run by PR-agencies, and they are as much a brand as they are a person, and the brand will suffer if they join a club outside the top tier. I keep saying that the only thing that could level the playing field is the coming financial disaster and the possibility of it forcing big money investors out of special interest things such as football. Otherwise, the problem will just keep getting more and more pronounced, and football will become even less dynamic. I think the most dynamic aspect coming in the next few years is Newcastle replacing Arsenal or Spurs at the absolute top.
  10. Have they given any sort of clarification as to why they decided to cancel everything? Is there some sort of precedence? Lady Di, I suppose, but that was a tragic, unexpected accident.
  11. Just to be clear, I wasn't having a pop. It just looked real weird.
  12. Exactly. It'll be hilarious! We could have our on All or Nothing: VillaTalk.
  13. They should outsource the job to VillaTalk.
  14. Watching Werder Bremen Augsburg and you guys that hate on Gerrards narrowness would have a stroke watching this game. It's as if the sidelines are poison!
  15. Granted, I am not English, but I certainly pay my respects to the queen and fully understand that a period of mourning is appropriate. But cancelling the weekends games and possible next weekends too? I just don't get it. You guys get time off work as well? Shops closed? Did she have some special relationship with football? Play with armbands and hold a minutes silence.

Hipster United? WTF is going on there?
  18. This is one of the cringiest things I've ever seen on a football pitch. Jesus wept.
  19. This. With the insane amounts of money for TV deals etc, the production companies must have some safe 'heroes' the consumers can identify with, so they reinforce the big lads lead by promoting them, focusing on them and creating narratives around them. The rest of the teams are just the faceless villains we see glimpses of in match sequences in All or Nothing. Inconsequential and uninteresting. It's all very depressing.

What makes this appointment even more interesting is the fact that Potter really didn't get Brighton to click in the final third. One of the deficiencies that Tuchel had at Chelsea and obviously an important point leading to his sacking. Maybe Potter will click with better players, but still. Curious.
  21. I have been very sceptical of English managers, in part because they often seem to all have a distinct ceiling, most of them never managing to reach success with bigger clubs. I think Potter is a potential outlier here though. Most issues with English coaches I think stems primarily from how England trains coaches (as opposed to Germany for example) and the fact that fee seem to go abroad for experience in other leagues. It will be very interesting to see if Potter can break the stereotypical view I have of English coaches.

Yeah, I mean it could be a case of him only doing negotiations rather that actually recruiting players and leaving that part to the recruitment department and the manager. Bit it does sound like he will be responsible for all of it which is just weird and might hamper Potter. We'll see I suppose.
